Taped the final and watched it when I got home from work last night, fantastic game!, well done to Arsenal but Hull gave a great account of themselves and made it very tough for Arsenal...

....also well done to Atletico and Simeone, what an achievement to win La Liga when you also have the two biggest clubs in the world fighting for it!

It was some time since I last saw Arsenal lift a trophy. Today to whole world seems brighter. :)

Anyone fancy some more stats from this season?....

Daniel Sturridge became the first Liverpool player to score in eight consecutive PL games

Liverpool and Fulham were the only teams not to be involved in any 0-0 draws

Adam Johnson was the only Englishman to score a Hat-trick in the PL

Yaya Toure became only the second central midfielder to score 20+ goals in a single PL season (after Lampard in 09/10)

Man City scored 156 goals in all competitions this season, nine more than Chelsea managed last season (the former record in the PL-era)

Jose Mourinho lost his first home league game as Chelsea manager, in his 78th PL match at Stamford Bridge (1-2 v Sunderland)

Man United have lost seven home games this season, the most since 1974/74 season

Ryan Giggs failed to score in a Premier League season for the first time

Asmir Begovic became the fifth goalkeeper to score in PL history

The Stoke 'keeper was also one of three players to score after 13 seconds this season (also Navas and Rodriguez)

For the first time since Bolton in 1905/06, one team (Liverpool) provided the top two goalscorers in an English top flight season (Suarez 31 and Sturridge 21)

Liverpool hit the woodwork 27 times this season, more than any other team

Liverpool took 12 penalties, five more than any other team

Petr Cech passed 150 clean sheets in the PL. he has 158 to his name with only David James keeping more (169)

Sunderland and Liverpool have both conceded a league high six own goals

Martin Skrtel set a new PL record by scoring four own goals in a single season

Cardiff scored only 18 goals from open play, fewer then any other side

Man City scored 13 goals from corners, more than any other side

So do Hull get a ticket to Europe with Arsenal having already qualified for the CL?

Van Gaal confirmed as new United manager.

He has got a 3 year contract, and will get Giggs as assistant manager, Marcel Bout and Frans Hoek as assistant coaches.

Ah well, it'll be fun watching the Dutch, Portuguese, Chilean and French managers fighting for the English Premier League title next season. I trust the top scoring players will be Uruguayan and Ivorian again?

Meanwhile in Mexico...

León FC is Champion again, claiming the Clausura 2014 Champion and thus becoming the 2nd team to win back to back Championships in the Short tournament era (First team was Pumas, who won back to back Championships in 2004).

But there's more! León ties Pumas with 7 Championships, and also becomes the 1st team in Mexican Football history to win back to back Championships in both the Long Tournament Era and the Liguilla Era (short tournaments).

So, Congratulations to La Fiera... Again!!!

Pero sigo siendo el REY!

Bonus stat:

Ryan Giggs is the only man to both play for and manage United, and sleep with his brother's wife.

Van Gaal will have a lot on his plate over the summer, a World Cup with Holland whilst managing United dealing with transfers and what not.

Ah well, it'll be fun watching the Dutch, Portuguese, Chilean, Northern Irish and French managers fighting for the English Premier League title next season. I trust the top scoring players will be Uruguayan and English again?

Fixed.

About time that got announced, happy with the appointment and he does have a lot on his plate but he is an experienced guy so I think he can handle it

Sad to hear about Giggs retirement even though its been on the cards for the last five years! Not only does he hold the appearance record at United and in the PL but he also top the most assists list in PL history with 162, 61 ahead of Lampard in second...

Just thought I'd revisit some of our pre-season predictions as the season draws to a close.

Shows what us armchair pundits know!

Hope Yeovil do well in the 2nd tier for the first time in their history.

Relegated.

Also hope moyes does well at United

No.

without moyes everton wont do anywhere near as well in the next campaign.

No.

Any news on mancini's next move?

Well I personally think he will go to Monaco

No.

Bale signed a new contract with Tottenham, according to The Evening Standard.

So I guess he's not going anywhere this summer.

No.

Seriously hoping for Liverpool to challenge for the top 4 this season. Anything less is a big disappointment.

Did better than we thought.

Well aren't we all clever people. *looks at post again. Realises alot of them are me* crap...

One event or one person in the case of Vincent Tan, can completely mess any prediction up. That's why ones made before the start of any season will usually be bad regardless of who made them. Even logical predictions go wrong because strange things can happen, that's why I try to account for this in my predictions but it usually just makes them worse.

What a crybaby! Oh boo-hoo, they didn't shake his hand! He got a cake though, he probably complained about that too because it probably wasn't chocolatey enough. :P

He didn't, it was for the team for winning the league and the other players suggested "give it to him for his birthday".
He's still being a big baby though, I thought he was 31 not 3+1.

 Hamilton will crush HIbs I think, they have just been so bad.
One can only hope...! If Hamilton could put 10 past Hibs like they did against Morton a couple of weeks ago, Hearts could sell the DVDs of the game in the team shop and become the richest club in the country.

I'm confused. Probably because it's late and I'm tired.

Do you want Hibs to go down, or do you just think that they will? Either way, for Hearts and Hibs to both go down in the same season would be... terrible. For Edinburgh.

Would make for a very interesting second tier though.... :D

Providing Rangers don't go into administration again.

@Touring Mars - I have the pleasure of saying I live beside Greenock. :ouch:

I would enjoy seeing Hibs relegated, yes... not least because of the extremely uncharitable behaviour of Hibs fans during Hearts financial difficulties. Hearts finished bottom of the league only by virtue of a 15 pt penalty for going into administration - Hibs would have been relegated automatically but for Hearts' penalty, so they deserve to go down IMO.

Both Edinburgh teams dropping out of the top flight will not necessarily be a bad thing - for Hearts it is a new beginning and a chance to wipe the slate clean. Rangers will also be in the 2nd tier, so there will be some very competitive games next season. For Hearts and Hibs to both be relegated would at least mean that the Edinburgh derby will remain intact as well!

Hibs have been atrocious recently, and with Rangers and Hearts both in the 2nd tier next season, they will struggle to be promoted straight back up to the SPFL. If that happens, I can see them staying down in the Championship for several years. Hearts will also struggle for promotion, but Hearts are in a very different situation, having to rebuild the team from the ground up - but Hearts have a loyal fan base with a much greater interest in the club now that thousands of supporters (including me) have invested cash in the club in order to save it from liquidation. As such, I think we can expect to see Hearts attendances to be as high next season as they were last season...

I might be 'wishful' in thinking this, but I think the second tier could be very interesting providing Hibs do go down. After all, as cup games have shown, Rangers currently have a Championship side(at their best) currently and the stakes will be higher than ever!

...provided Hibs go down and Rangers and Hearts stay in business... :ill:

As for Yaya Toure, is he for real? (or Barca?)

I can't help but think Yaya's agent pressured him into saying all of this, like some kind of PR man.
I also think that the agent in question should be removed from his job as soon as possible.
Partly because his argument is stupid. I mean, Roberto Carlos got a Bugatti for his birthday. ...So? What does that have to do with Yaya Toure?
Mostly, it's because, as I said, I think he's forcing Yaya to speak his agent's mind, not his own. And that's sickening.
