I don't think any of the teams that currently occupy the Europa League places actually want to take part in it next year, its a tournament that causes more harm than good to a team

Hull v Arsenal tonight..

Delighted that we have signed Depay who has potential to be one of the best players in the world in a few years, I'm also happy that we have started our summer spending early, hopefully Gundogon will be the next one to join...

John Carver!! :lol::lol::lol:

He might well be the best coach in the league; he's certainly a well respected and enduring trainer.

But manager? No. Not even close.

Games this weekend

Saturday

Aston Villa v West Ham
Crystal Palace v Man United (5.30 Sky)
Everton v Sunderland (12.45 BT)
Hull v Burnley
Leicester v Southampton
Newcastle v West Brom
Stoke v Tottenham

Sunday

Chelsea v Liverpool (4.00 Sky)
Man City v QPR (1.30 Sky)

Monday Night

Arsenal v Swansea (8.00 Sky)

Some big games at the bottom tomorrow, pretty sure Burnley will be relegated if they lose..

I was at Palace. Clutch performances from de Gea to keep United in the game and Young to get us back in it.
Even Falcao wasn't bad! That shove on Delaney made all the difference in the setup to the goal... :P

Now for Liverpool to slip up and our post-Moyes goal has been achieved.

Happy with the win yesterday, might not have been pretty but it was needed after losing our last three before, will be supporting Chelsea later!

Also fun fact about Newcastle's bad run of form, you know that annoying Barclays ad with Alan Shearer?, well since that first aired on Feb 24th Newcastle haven't won a league game...

QPR relegated!!

Less a relegation, more a resignation from the PL with a performance like that. At least Burnley knew to go down in style (and potentially take Hull with them). QPR had exactly the same problems as their last time round, nowhere near enough team chemistry to survive. Still, at least someone'll get Charlie Austin...

Completely agree, they went down with a whimper and they should be embarrassed, they need proper structure and stability there....

Chelsea 1-0 up through John Terry..

So, it might happen that there will be 2 teams with the same amount of points, goals for and against at the end of the competition here.

Now is my question for you guys :
If that scenario happens, who will get the higher spot in the rankings?

I know the answer, I would like to see if you guys know. No googling, give it your best guess.

So Swansea have just beaten Arsenal 1-0!!, Arsenal were all over us in the second half and Fabianski came to our rescue on more than one occasion, but a Gomis header just crept over the line and goal was given by GLT!

We have now done the league double over Man United and Arsenal this season! :D:D:D:tup:👍👍

Drawing of lots.

That's a good spot of trivium for the quiz thread. ;)

But really? Alphabetical order? That's absolutely ludicrous. A coin toss/random draw would seem at least somewhat fair.

Actually not. They may be listed in alphabetical order, but they'll be ranked as the same position. Unless their positions carry different onward competition rewards - such as the difference between relegation and not, or European football and not...

C.7: Subject to Rule C.14, if any 2 or more Clubs have scored the same number of points, have the same goal difference and have scored the same number of goals in League Matches in that Season they shall be deemed to occupy the same position in the table.

C.14: If at the end of the Season either the League Champions or the Clubs to be relegated or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because 2 or more Clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the Clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding League Matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board
So there.

The higher ranked team gets more money.
As it says in C7 they get ranked the same - so they get the same money. C14 says they only have to do play-offs to determine position if the position affects qualification for other competitions.

Apparently the KNVB thinks otherwise.
Our biggest football show was appalled and a bit outraged about this rule.

Just seen the table online ^....its FC Groningen in eighth and Willem II in ninth....

Fair Play ranking?

Just noticed, with a bit of luck in the last few matches, Swansea could still mathematically finish 5th! They're definitely battling with Tottenham and Southamption for 6th place. Silent but Deadly.

We can still finish higher and qualify for next seasons Europa League, but I don't think the majority of the swans fans want that as the extra games and travelling affects the squad and the League form, I don't think its worth the hassle tbh...
