I didn't know what he shouted but whatever he did say is irrelevant and my point still stands. It shows a very distinct lack of sportsmanship.
That is very much relevant. If Krul shouted something supportive at him, would it still be a lack of sportsmanship?

The point is he shouldn't be walking up to the opposition and shouting in their faces full stop.

How about Costa Rica stalling from the beginning of the second half? How's that for sportsmanship?

I find that more sporting than faked injuries (lay motionless for 30 seconds til the ball is played out, then get up immediately  ), kicking the ball away after every free kick conceded and overacting at the slightest touch.

Isn't it against the rules to go up and talk to the player about to take the penalty? At least someone in another forum I frequent said it was.

EDIT: I can't believe some newspapers said what van Gaal did was against the spirit of the game... Seriously? "Teams will start bringing an expert in penalties as a sub", no 🤬 Sherlock. Some teams are lucky to have both (starter and expert) as only one player, others have to rely in these kind of things.

EDIT 2: And I just found out van Gaal was the first to do such a substitution in the World Cup, good for him.

The Sub - I don't see a problem, it's not like the team sat back for 120 minutes with 7 defenders, then on the 121st minute he subbed on 3 strikers for the defenders to take a penalty. He handicaps himself by restricting them to 2 subs in 120 minutes.

Krul Shouting - I think the shouting is a bit too much. What I do like to see is the goal keeper standing on the line, looking directly in the strikers eyes and pointing to a corner saying "put it there". In the scale of thing the insane amount of acting on the pitch for a brush on their knee or ankle is much much worse than trying to psyche out the one taking the spot.

Fantastic shootout last night with some great penalties taken by the Dutch, Semi Final line up looks awesome, Germany to win for me...

RVP, Robben, Sneijder, Kuyt and Huntelaar.

Probably one of the strongest penalty kick lineup in the competition.

Krul talking crap was funny. It's just mind games.

I agree but maybe the referee should have done his job properly (applies to pretty much every game this tournament) and maybe FIFA should look at all the rules that allow cheating/unsporting behaviour because until they are changed/added then this kind of rubbish will always be present in the game because they will always be people who are prepared to do whatever it takes to win.

Teribble joke:

(Seeing internet stuff)
US supporters: Who the 🤬 is Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo, etc ?!
Non-US supporters: WHO THE 🤬 IS TIM HOWARD?!?!?!!!

Gotta say though that I don't have a clue who Tim Howard is.

After Ney's injury, I've changed my prediction: Germany will face Argentina in the Final...

And it will be so bad they'll go all the way to penalty kicks...

Let's see if I get it right :)

Wat. No. We (Dutchies) must face Germany in the final. And then absolutely destroy them. We need it. We need all of next week to be everything orange and everyone drunk as hell.

I think its going to be Brazil - Holland in the final and Brazil will win (barely) despite playing badly...

Lets see how my preiction goes..

Also after seeing Krul come in for the penalty shootout I have second thoughts about wether or not penalties are all luck..

Brazil - Argentina on the final.

Imagine what is considered the greatest football rivalry in a World Cup final. That's taking insane to a whole new level.

@Lucas can you imagine how would our countries be right before kick-off if that happens?

Alternitely, Germany-Holland would also be a good final as well. Sadly, with the way these refs have been so far I doubt this will happen.

No doubt. But in order to have that title either both of them have an insane amount of goals or playing defensive all the time (esp. near the goal).

I would like a Brazil final, but I also think it'll be Germany - Holland. (or Argentina :P)

Because the games are on at 9 pm, none of my lightweight pals want to watch the game in the pub with me. :(

OK, so perhaps 4 hours in the pub before kick-off is a bit much, and we are all neutrals anyway, but still...

Incidentally, even my 'heavyweight'/borderline alcoholic friends are giving it a swerve as well, since it's a long shift on a school night. Ho hum. I guess I'll save about £40 by watching the game(s) at home.

Germany-Holland is my pick too, but I fear for what that final would become.
Probably just 2010 with another team.

No matter the result of the game people will storm the pitch and World War 3 takes place. A plane arrives just before the end and takes Messi to a safe place in the heavens, leaving the rest to kill eachother in a blood bath to be remembered as the best World Cup final ever. The Hunger Games replace the 2018 World Cup.

But yeah, it would be madness. It will likely be Germany - Netherlands.

Might miss a bit of both games as I'm working lates, but ill try and get out early if I can...
