Indeed, but I will say Mexico only have themselves to blame for allowing Holland to get with in range that often and nearly score. Relying solely on Ochoa was bound to fail no matter how good the guy is. But hey games over, no reason to be upset.

Yeah, once the Dutch were given the space, a goal was inevitable (I thought the second before the first goal that it would be dangerous...)

Robbens dive was not a penalty but some might disagree that it was not a dive.

Okay but if that was the only score by them, I might agree (though I don't fully get how a team doesn't deserve to win after winning). Like I said Mexico got lazy with 20-25 minutes to go and they shouldn't have. They were doing well, and they left it on the line for Ochoa mostly to protect.

I thought Mexico had this, but they started getting a bit relaxed. Oh well on to the next game and to see what shenanigans it has to give us.

Feel sorry for Mexico, that the sixth World Cup in a row in which they have been knocked out at the last 16 stage, so close to the quarters this time around...

After Mexico scored, van Gaal changed most positions and that was something Mexico didn't expect. Probably even without the penalty it would have tipped our way.

No, what changed the whole thing was that Herrera substituted his attacker, and opted to play defensive with a single attacker. I'd have no idea why on earth he would do that when they were doing so good with two attackers. Not taking anything away from Holland, but they could've been sent home 2-0.

With that penalty, it's cruel. But without the penalty Netherlands should have had in the first half? It balances out.

Netherlands persevered and attacked. Mexico, despite a wonderful effort, became complacent and paid the price.

Now let's play "Countries Liquid Has A Loose Affiliation With"

Greek win pls. Even if Netherlands would rather play Costa Rica.

Netherlands winning German style: in overtime!

I hope Greece wins the next match. I really wanna see Netherlands-Greece. Should make for some good football.

It wont, Greece has been a joke, and they went through because of luck alone (Ivory Coast deserving it way more).

Dare I say, Costa Rica will simply win, not much to look forward into that match.

Not the best game but I love the outcome. However, I didn't enjoy the game due to the annoying commentators they used this time. Watching the Dutch commentator during the after game show try to justify that penalty was hilarious.

While Mexico was superior for the majority of the match, they got taught a lesson the Dutch have learned several times from Germany: don't ever settle back until the end-signal has been given. Never would have thought I would compare the Dutch playing style to the (former) German one.

They had Mexican commentators on ESPN right? And Van Nistelrooij was lost for words at first, but yeah, he made up a nice story.

The penalty evens it out with the one Robben should have had in the first half, and the 2 we got against us in the group stage.

You win some, you lose some. And in the end, we won. Pfeew.

And btw. That Sneijder goal. Try stopping that with your hands or head... You'll go off with an injury.

@Dennisch tree'd what I was going to say about Robben's penalty.

Excellet game. And that turn around was majestic. Two great goals by Dos Santos and Sneijder. So far so good this knock-out round have been great.

Aw man Mexico and Chile have both pushed pre-tournamemt favourites to the absolute limit of match time. Been incredibly dramatic to watch.
