^ They are all in a single lobby, but non-local teams can share the driving by jumping out of the lobby after recording their progress so that another driver on their team can jump in.

Interesting, rain might be ok.. we'll just have to be really careful if we're caught out on slicks and it rains hard.
SORRY FOR THE CAPS....IT TOOK 90 MINUTES TO GO FROM 0% TO 100% ROAD SURFACE WATER, WHICH IS FINE...BUT AFTER REACHING 100% IT STAYED AT 100% FOR 3 MORE HOURS, IT NEVER QUIT RAINING AND IT NEVER RAINED HARDER OR SOFTER...I STARTED THE LOBBY AT 15:00, 70% WEATHER, 1 WEATHER CHANGABILITY, 0% ROAD SURFACE, AND 1 TIME DAY PROGRESSION...SO BASICALLY FOR 4 AND A HALF HOURS THE WEATHER NEVER CHANGED, AND IM NOT GONNA TRY ANY LONGER THAN THAT...AND PERSONALLY IM NOT GOING TO RACE ON 100% ROAD SURFACE FOR FOR THAT LENGTH OF TIME, I LIKE HOW LONG IT TOOK TO ACHEIVE FULL WET CONDITIONS, BUT IF THE WEATHER NEVER CHANGES, THEN IT KINDA DEFEATS THE PURPOSE...I PERSONALLY THINK WE SHOULD JUST RACE UNDER FIXED BLUE SKIES, AND CALL IT A DAY

what we found is that its fairly predictable if the time progression is on 1 and the changeability is on a low number

That's what changeability means, too higher numbers gives very fast changes in weather. For WSC Spa I was out there and had a downpour that started in Eau Rouge and went to 100% and by the time I got to the pits it was dry again.

For the race we reduced it to stop it from being a lottery.

Time progression has no influence over weather. Tested at 0, 1 and 60 -- all with the same hyper-saturation bug.

Even with changeability on 2, it can still go from 0-100% in a matter of minutes, but is less likely too. Only settings I have found where it doesn't change dramatically at any point is 1 changeability or fixed.

1 changeability sounds good to me as that is probably what is supposed to be real changeability. 4 hour constant rain isn't really that weird? Can rain for full days in real life so why not in the game.

TRUE, SOMEONE NEEDS TO VERIFY IF IT WILL STOP RAINING THOUGH

Does it matter either way?! A rain race is just another challenge to deal with...
I have taken part in two online 24 hr races:

The 2013 Nurb 24 hr race had 15 hrs of rain.
The 2014 Nurb 24 hr race had variable weather with rain coming and going throughout, difficult but all teams finished.

I don't mind the rain....it rains in real racing too and you have to adapt.

Assuming the 2013 was GT5 and 2014 was GT6... do you know what the rain settings were for both? If they were the same that's a pretty interesting (read: staggering) difference.

At least we know, that if/when it starts raining, it's time to panic... assume the worst, etc... if it's just started to rain but not yet accumulate as you're finishing the Porsche curves, you need to really think about whether you want to go in for the Inters or Wets, because you know you could be paddling your way back when you get down Mulsanne.
There's almost a draw to that... requires quick thinking, risk analysis, and then total re-planning for further pit strategy... As far as I'm concerned, GT gamers are spoiled by the lack of random mechanical failures totally beyond your control... a little unpredictability could be nice to keep everyone on their toes, remembering that racing isn't for the faint of heart, or the slow to adapt. :mischievous:

Like how if you have your suspension settings are too high and you catch air coming down the straight, your suspension might collapse?

if yall love the rain so much, why dont you just put it on 100% fixed , so it doesnt change??? racing hours on end with heavy damage in sloppy wet conditions doesnt appeal to me , and i wont take part in it...i have plenty of better things to do.....

Why don't we just marry the rain, then!?

Also, if we plan on setting it similar to the weather at Le Mans as it occurs in real life this weekend, looks like the weather is supposed to be nice in Le Mans this weekend... partly cloudy, 10% chance of rain on Saturday, 0% on Sunday.

You my friend are being really hyperbolic. Weather change i normal in a race at le mans. If you set up your car to cope with it, it is totally bearable and actually real fun. :)

Alternatively (just an idea), if the weather begins to increase at a monsoon-like rate (in that it would go from 0-100% in less the span of a lap), throw a full course caution for a lap to allow everyone to safely get back and change tires... May be more difficult to manage, but is an option.

Rain at Le Mans far simpler to deal with than rain at Nurburgring... Driving in the rain is a skill that all endurance drivers should learn to deal with...

I (and I think MLB agree's) don't have an issue with "some" rain during an endurance race however if the rain generator in GT6 is indeed glitched, do we really want to run in the rain @ 100% for the majority of the race? Not sure how good the racing quality would be in that situation.

If the argument seriously is about either 100% rain or 0% rain, then... this is a little ridiculous as I'm sure no one's disagreeing over how much and why it would suck to have it wet for 24 hours... just whether or not they'd be willing to do it.

That being said, if we're discussing the pro's and con's of sudden unexpected downpours and whether a sudden downpour is enough to warrant just running in 0% rain for 24 hours, which is what I thought we were discussing (bearing in mind, of course, that none of the specifics of the race are currently set in stone...), OR whether or not sudden totally grip reducing rain can appear out of nowhere with that sort of tenacity in real life, then... assuming most people agree that this is trying to be an authentic Le Mans experience here, I submit the following:

I ran a 1/34 hour race in GT5 with 100% rain, and heavy damage, and it was brutal. Some of my drivers who are coming to this event took part. Sometimes it doesnt rain for days, especially in summer. I agree with mlbguy4life, that we shouldnt risk having a totally saturated race.

The settings for GT5's 2013 24hrs if Nurb were Changeability 1 and Weather at start (IIRC) 25%.

It rained 17hrs :scared:

I don't care how much rain there is, bring me all the rain because the more rain the better for us, we've done it before.

I have an idea. Why don't we get a weather report for Le Mans. See what the Weather is on, the 2 days in France. We'll go by their Weather. On July 12th and the 13th, it's pouring, well it'll poor for use during the Race. I think that's they fairest way to go

Are we confident that we know how the game will react to the settings. It sounds like its glitched since a recent update.

Watch the 1st part of the race here (not the restart) and keep an eye on the surface water % indicator.

EDIT: Rain starts just after 30min, was red flagged 7 min later due to some not being prepared (I myself was disappointed with the red as I was closest to the pit and gained about 1 min in the chaos)

On a side note to that, I'm commentating on those videos with @adam46

Doesn't the rain react to the number of Laps in a race. Or in our situation here, time.. Maybe the Race should be in Race mode at start and not Free mode or Practice. Have 2 or 3 Hour Stints. Then remake another Room for the Next 2 or 3 Hour Stint. That should help with the rain. The Rain won't fall at a faster rate in Race Mode. Then the Surface of the Track, won't get to 100% in 1 lap. Just a thought
