Horrible finish.
The original picture didn't work for some reason. I made this though:Darrell: It was as clear as blood
Mcreynolds: Clear as blood?
Just when I think DW can't outdo himself, he goes a step further.
Edit: Pace car bumper, clears your grille like new.
They shouldn't have thrown it at all, or throw it instead of the yellow.I like that NASCAR let them run down the back stretch before throwing the caution, instead of throwing it as soon as they got to turn 1.
You didn't see the bumper laying on the track, right before the start/finish line!?They shouldn't have thrown it at all, or throw it instead of the yellow.
Awful call
Did NASCAR not see them crashing before they made it to the line!?You didn't see the bumper laying on the track, right before the start/finish line!?
Please, at least don't claim the race was rigged.I should have figured that with all of the mentions of Hamlin's 300th start that he would win.
20th for Dogecar.
It was actually "clear as mud"The original picture didn't work for some reason. I made this though:

Biffle and Boywer were lining up, moving on the backstretch. It's not like anyone was gonna pass Denny. All that caution stopped was the wreck coming to the line.
Both have to be the dumbest similes ever.It was actually "clear as mud"
If you think that's an awful yellow, you're in denial. It wouldn't be remotely safe for the pack to race back to the line with that sitting directly in the way. A cut tire at 200mph could trigger a completely needless accident. Safety comes BEFORE entertainment.NASCAR:
Choose an option
A) Add more plate tracks
B) Don't call awful yellows on the 2 times we actually come here...
I could've sworn there was an accident before the start/finish. Why not call the caution before the white flag? I mean at least call the caution before they get down the backstretch so nobody gets their hopes up.If you think that's an awful yellow, you're in denial. Then they should've thrown the caution as they spun, not say "let's throw the white, and see if anyone ends up in the grandstands!"If you think that's an awful yellow, you're in denial. They couldn't hit the caution lights fast enough to have the caution activated before the leader took the white flag.I could've sworn there was an accident before the start/finish. The flag man has enough common sense to know "Oh hey! There are 5 cars crashing! I should throw the caution!"They couldn't hit the caution lights fast enough to have the caution activated before the leader took the white flag.
Once they realized the track wasn't safe for the finish, they let the leaders go all the way to the end of the backstretch before calling it. I think that was the best they could do, in that situation.
He couldn't get the flag in his hand fast enough before the leaders crossed the line for the white flag. Did you see when and where the wreck happened? The flag man has enough common sense to know "Oh hey! There are 5 cars crashing! I should throw the caution!"

I did, you obviously didn't. It was at what I call the "Daytona finish"; he had another hand inside the flag stand, presumably holding the yellow. If I were there, as soon as I saw smoke I would have thrown a caution. He couldn't get the flag in his hand fast enough before the leaders crossed the line for the white flag. FtfyThe wreck happened with Hamlin around 1000 meters from the SF line. That's 2.5 seconds.
There's a way they could've gotten it that fast.
