Amp is now Kickstart, but he still does have that sponsor. They'll still need a sponsor to fill the gap that National Guard is now vacating.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. We all should have saw that coming when the Army got blasted for its NASCAR sponsorship and withdrew shortly thereafter.

@BKGlover

Why was Johnson the only one to run into tires troubles, so early too?
Is he to be believed when he says "wasn't tire pressures" ?
ETA: minimum recommended inflation was just 12psi on the left side, he blew his left rear twice
I called it... Jimmie's so full of it!

Could NASCAR require tire pressure sensors? At several tracks this season, teams have experienced issues with tire failures - and [Jimmie Johnson] certainly hasn't been immune to those issues. At New Hampshire two weeks ago, the # 48 had two left-rear tires failures in the first 11 laps, the second of which put him out of the race. Although Johnson protested, "I can promise you one thing, it wasn't due to low left rear tire pressure," Goodyear had a different diagnosis after examining the tires. As was the case with #22-Joey Logano and #43-Aric Almirola earlier in the weekend, Goodyear believed the tire failures were due to low air pressure. Each week Goodyear makes minimum air pressure recommendations. But teams don't always adhere to the numbers.
So if the teams don't follow the suggested minimum air pressures, how does Goodyear protect itself against the negative publicity when a driver has a blowout? How about a tire sensor to discourage teams from fudging on their numbers? "We've talked to NASCAR about different things like that," Greg Stucker, director of race tire sales for Goodyear, told Motorsport.com. "We worked on those on and off for several years, but it's come more to the forefront in our discussions with how they're looking at their new officiating. But no decisions have been made whether or not we're moving forward on that. We're doing research and trying to figure out what our options might be in a situation like that, but nothing for sure." Stucker says a tire pressure monitor on a race car would use the same technology to report psi "no different than what you see on your street car these days."(Motorsport)(8-5-2014)

After hearing those stats, that only 20 people who applied were physically able to join the Guard in 2012 thanks to NASCAR, and not one person actually joined, I'm not shocked at all.

If I owned some kind of business, I'd be looking into a sponsorship with Dale Jr as soon as I heard the news.
M&M's Dale?
Coca Cola?
Mtn Dew + Time Warner?
return of Budweiser?

Won't be until 2016 apparently though, Hendrick Statement: "Our team has a contract in place to continue the National Guard program at its current level in 2015. We have not been approached by the Guard about potential changes and plan to honor our current agreement."

looks like a scam lol. Seriously though I'm a bit confused, sponsors bring money which is supposed to bring them back (more) revenue, or in this particular case, men (troops), right?

Chase Elliott to probably run a few Cup races in 2015!
Interestingly enough, articles states: Although Hendrick currently fields four full-time cars, the maximum for one organization as allowed by NASCAR, rules do permit teams to run an additional vehicle on a limited slate for prospective rookie drivers.
He could also simply end up in the #52, a second HScott Motorsports car, or a 3rd Ganassi.

@Johnny1996
thanks!

nice car! how do you link jpg's from jayski?
All I did was Google "dale jr 2004 Daytona 500 car" and this was one of the images to come up. I then viewed the full size image, and copy and pasted the URL. Then I put
Code:
[URL]
before the URL and
Code:
[/URL]
after the URL.

Section 3-7F of the 2013 rulebook-
"(5) Notwithstanding any other provision of this sub-section 3-7, a Car Owner may submit a fifth car number for competition in a maximum of seven (7) starts during the 2013 racing season for the purpose of enabling the rookie driver, as determined and approved by NASCAR under sub-section 9-4D, to become familiar with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition."

Tire pressure sensors should be there for safety moreso then enforcing rules

Right, because we all know that race engineers and crew chiefs *cough*Chad*cough* always follow the rules. Besides, could keeping someone from doing something stupid and wrecking not only their car, but others be considered a "safety" issue?

I was close then. Of course, HMS and SHR are the only teams that can take advantage of this rule.

As for tire sensors, most top level series use them. The issue I see with it being implemented in NASCAR is that NASCAR would have to allow telemetry to be used during race weekends. That's something they seem to be against doing because they think it will allow teams to do things to the cars to gain an advantage.

I don't think NASCAR understands how data acquisition works....

Justin.tv was shut down so they can focus everything on twitch.tv

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU and racefansonly has been down for weeks as well.

NASCAR's technical inspection is on higher figures than Goodyear's recommendations, "rules" don't apply here.

For Watkins Glen:
  • Technical Inspection Inflation -- Both Series:
    Left Front -- 23 psi; Right Front -- 23 psi;
    Left Rear -- 20 psi; Right Rear -- 20 psi
  • Minimum Recommended Inflation -- Sprint Cup:
    Left Front -- 23 psi; Right Front -- 21 psi;
    Left Rear -- 18 psi; Right Rear -- 18 psi

  • Minimum Recommended Inflation -- Nationwide:
    Left Front -- 22 psi; Right Front -- 20 psi;
    Left Rear -- 17 psi; Right Rear -- 17 psi
Won't be Goodyear's fault if a tires blows after a team chose to run 14psi on the rear tires...

presidential facepalm
BO doesn't follow NASCAR or has good counselors, apparently, what next, he asks Tony Stewart to do hopping on his right leg or Denny Hamlin for hulahoops? :rolleyes:

I would watch Nascar but its on at 2am in the morning here so I can't eb bothered getting up for it. Sometimes ill watch the replays during the day though

The Watkins Glen qualifying has convinced me even more that a certain someone in this green and orange car keeps going backwards this season, rather than forward which was the expectation of many GTP'ers after 2013. :P

Qualifying meant nothing for her today as she binned it at the end of practice yesterday/

I only saw two of those incidents, one of them looks kinda difficult to blame on him as it seemed like he was already alongside a car in the bus stop. The one heading onto the final turn I'm still confused on. How much room was trevor supposed to give the 28? There's nothing but wall so I don't get it. I have yet to see the first one.
