About the different series names... I'd like to offer my viewpoint on this and say that the current names can easily confuse new viewers who have no idea Sprint and Nationwide are actually companies.

When I originally looked up NASCAR, I didn't know where to begin and what was supposed to be the top level. I thought Nationwide was it, as Sprint Cup sounded like a collection of short sprint races rather than predominantly 400 to 600 mile events.

And when I first heard of the name "Busch Series" I thought it was just a Kyle Busch-related joke.

Nationwide does sound more, advanced, while Sprint Cup sounds like it's 100-300 mile races.

Should be called NASCAR Championship sponsored by Sprint, and NASCAR Championship B sponsored by Nationwide, or NASCAR Grand National Series sponsored by Sprint and NASCAR National Series Sponsored by Nationwide, or something like that.

Fixed

The NASCAR Cup Series powered by Sprint.
The problem is that if they were to use that, for example, writers such as myself would only refer to it as the Cup series, not the Sprint Cup.

Sprint NASCAR Cup Series.

Problem solved.

The people who are paying for their name to be associated with Nascar's top series are the ones who decide what to call it. That's why they chose to use the short title, so everyone actually says "Sprint" when they refer to the series. If the name were longer, then they wouldn't have nearly the amount of recognition. That's why they ditched the "cup", so everyone would quit referring to it as "Cup Series".

who ditched the "cup" ??

I'm glad Stewart may try to make an attempt but I don't see him having the drive. I watched the interview the guy is quite beside himself and broken up about the situation that happened. That harms race craft.
he did qualify in the top 12...

This is one of the few times I'm OK with it getting rained out; it's labor day tomorrow so I'm not doing anything else.

Yeah and Danica qualified in the top 12 this season and finished well outside of it...what's the point. Qualifying doesn't tell me anything other than the conditions and the car with the driver were good enough for a single lap. If I followed that I shouldn't expect Junior or JJ or Matt to be fighting in the top 5 or 10 every weekend.

Truck race at Mosport is on. I was about to have a heart attack because I thought I missed it.

We also have guys like Truex and Almirola in the top 12 this week, both of who have been sub par this year.

What a finish, completely clean to the flag. Nice job by Blaney.

Tags takes someone out. What a shocker.

And then someone else takes Tags out. The world is back in balance.

Pretty sure that was not intentional.

Aw, Quiroga choked on the last corner! That was still an epic race despite the lack of a last lap restart but Blaney earned that one. Your move Sprint Cup!

I don't normally get to watch the Truck races because of work, but I got off early today and happened to catch the last 8 laps of the race. What a great finish!

It doesn't seem to matter which series is running there, but the road courses put on a good show year after year.
