17 failures seems generous, since a lot of other tires were probably right on the verge of failing when cautions came out. Look at how that last run to the finish went, with a car or two per lap losing tires for about 5 laps, until Bowyer finally spun out to bring out the final caution.

That may be, but they were talking of trouble at around 20 laps, that's only 40 miles! If the tires were not any good for more than 40-50 miles then why didn't 30+ other teams have problems? Sorry, I'm not buying it, sounds like the usual excuses to me. Set up is always a compromise and the track changes through the race. They lowered the air pressure to compensate for the increased heat through the race, when you have too much camber and not enough air you increase the stress on the sidewall...then guess what happens? Exactly what we saw this weekend at Autoclub Speedway is what happens.

Because when the first failure caused a car to spin, a caution came out, and EVERYONE came to get 4 new tires. Had they not thrown cautions for anything, I think we would have seen nearly every car spinning or pitting every 20-25 laps for the entire race. They should be able to go 40 laps or so at California without pitting, but it was never going to happen on those left side tires.

It was just a tornado of factors that caused this. It wasn't just one company's fault like TireGate part 2 back in 2008

Earnhardt, Jr, Graham Rahal interested in ride swap: Verizon IndyCar Series driver Graham Rahal believes the timing and circumstances are just too perfect not to do the much-ballyhooed car swap with his National Guard NASCAR counterpart, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Rahal attended the Auto Club 400 in Fontana on Sunday afternoon with girlfriend Courtney Force and her father, 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion, John and reached out to Earnhardt after the race, via Twitter, about the possibility of swapping rides somewhere down the line. For his part, Earnhardt seemed agreeable. Rahal says the Twitter exchange was calculated but "100 percent authentic" and something that the second-generation IndyCar ace has wanted to do for quite some time. "I wouldn't have said it if I didn't want it to happen," Rahal told Popular Speed. "Dale and I share a sponsor now (National Guard) and my dad (three-time champion, Bobby) and Rick (Hendrick) have always had a great relationship." Rahal believes the shared National Guard sponsorship makes for a great marketing opportunity for both himself and Earnhardt, allowing for Rahal to knock a machine off his personal bucket list - the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car. Rahal, who is pushing for the car swap to take place on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is just looking forward to potentially hanging out with Earnhardt, believing that their similarities could establish a fast friendship.(Popular Speed)(3-25-2013)

I really hope this happens, even if neither driver goes all-out(as is the norm in these types of things).

I don't know about that, Lewis Hamilton and Tony Stewart seemingly went for it (in the rain mind you) when they had a ride swap.

My Proposed Point System
Points per race - 43-1 (No points for a race you finish less than 50% of)
  • Bonus Points - +5 for the pole, +3 for leading the most laps, +7 for leading more than 50% of the laps in a race
  • Chase Picks - All who win a race plus those in the top 10 in points that don't have a win
  • Chase Seeding - +1 point for every place over 10th in the points you were pre-reset, -1 for every place behind 10th you were pre-reset, +1 point for every win
  • Eliminations - If you fall more than a race and a half behind the leader (So 65 points), you are eliminated from the Chase and your points are reset to pre-Chase totals plus what you have earned in the Chase

Bold - Race Win
Italic - Finished >50% so no points were awarded.
Blank - DNQ/DNE
Green - Has won and is locked into Chase
Points as of California

I wonder about that too, @Ganon83. It could be the Clash of the Carriers. Whether the two get in the way or not, it will be cool to see the drivers swap machines.

Wonder if Sprint and Verizon might get in the way of Rahal and Jr. swapping rides.

I doubt it. It won't be during series races for either and besides, National Guard would more then likely be the big contributing organizer in it just as Mobil 1 was for Stewart and Hamilton.

I doubt it as there was no issue with Stewart driving the McLaren which was sponsored by Vodaphone(which at the time had a sizable stake in Verizon).

 Dogecoin and the NASCAR subreddit are trying to raise 55K to sponsor Josh Wise (Donation Link)

That's what he said in the article.

Calling him a moron for speaking the truth is a bit harsh.

NASCAR is really butt hurt over McNabb. Can't post the link because I'm on my phone but you should find their article on him on their website if you look
