So because of an article written by Pat Decola, NASCAR as a whole is butt hurt.

Right...

McNabb is no different then the average joke who thinks because he can drive 110mph down a 4 lane highway with his crappy music blasting with no physical effort that its the same in NASCAR.

Yeah, the guy that people attribute more to Campbell's soup commercials and who's biggest highlight is throwing up during the Super Bowl is more of an accomplished athlete than someone who's won 6 championships.

If they weren't they wouldn't of approved of the article in the first place. It's their site.
Not saying I agree with him or that he's a better athlete then Jimmie, but two wrongs never make a right. McNabb experienced how it felt to be a driver and his opinion didn't change. Nothing anybody can do or say can change that.
Now, Keith Olberman's recent comments on Twitter are a whole nother ball game. I'm not posting those out of complete disgust, you can find them on his page.

Only thing I saw was him owning the idiots who were mad at his opinion about something.

Some people need to realize that not everyone is going to share your interests.

I understand that, but he was being pretty disrespectful to the sport in general. McNabb wasn't disrespectful, he just doesn't believe drivers are athletes.
And the irony of that, by the way, is that without NASCAR, I really doubt ESPN would exist anyway.

Can you backup your statement? Based on everything I've seen if the NBA went bust overnight ESPN would shrivel up in a ball.

Definitely would exist. They did have NASCAR right at it's peak but it would be foolish to say that NASCAR is the reason it exists today.

I don't mean today, I mean period. NASCAR was the first sport to fully embrace ESPN, and both were made for each other: NASCAR was a sport that needed TV, ESPN was a network that needed sports. It was a good deal for everybody involved.
I mean, maybe it wasn't the only reason why ESPN exists, but it definitely helped it grow and become a big deal in television

Erm...no, actually. ESPN lives because college basketball was huge at the moment, they managed to get the NCAA to let them re-air their games, namely the NCAA Tournament, then they reached a deal with the new Big East conference, and it's all history from there. Both NASCAR and NHRA were done on a race-by-race deal, as I believe the tracks held the TV rights for a long time.

Qualifying is over, but TV coverage hasn't gotten to the second (and final) round, so I'll refrain from spoiling it until the session is over on TV.

There's a surprise in the top 10. That's all I'm saying.

It never was live this year... it never was live in the old system either. For some reason it never occurred to them that they could save the commercials for between the qualifying sessions for this new format.

The problem is they want to get all of it on TV + driver interviews, so a 45 minute qualifying session still takes 90+ minutes of TV coverage.

Watching it now and wow, the universe just might collapse.

Ok, might as well say it. Crashica Sparklepony actually had a decent qualifying session. This means one of three things:
1. The doomsday preppers might be right and the world could very well be ending.
2. This might be a singn of very unlucky things to come so feel free to tweet/email/whatever your favorite driver of impending doom.
3. Expect an otherworldly finish on Sunday.
That is all

ding ding ding, winner winner chicken...or better yet chicken dinner with Danica herself. :sly:

I can excuse FS1 delaying qualifying as the new format is actually fairly interesting to watch. However, I still refuse to watch it as there is always a chance I will have to suffer a badly synched "NEW TRACK RECORD!!!!!".

If so, I'm actually not surprised as I believe said person's best non-plate finish was at Martinsville.

It was, she finished 12th in the spring race last year. Plus, she hasn't been that bad over the last few races.

Because secretly it is someone else driving while she gets the glory.

Change the qualifying format they said... It'll be more fun to watch they said...
It would be, FOX is just too dense to realize that you can't delay qualifying like this anymore. People will get on THE TWITTAH! and find results, or they'll be like me and do other things while listening to MRN online. I can't spend 90 minutes watching an hour long qualifying session, FOX needs to give it up and just spend the entire 10 minute break between sessions running advertisements if they need to.

A good stream link or RaceFansOnly password?

Premier Sports isn't broadcasting for UK fans until 9pm hence I'm asking.

Thank you!
