I'll cheer for Danica before I cheer for Keselowski. Even the Busch brother are getting less and less annoying as time goes.

I don't really understand NASCAR's schedule, and why they were in Virginia last weekend, are going to Texas this week and then back to Virginia in two weeks... Wouldn't it make more sense to have Martinsville and Richmond back to back?

Yeah that's a good question because last years schedule seemed to work more in line regionally then this years. It doesn't make much sense.

To be fair, it doesn't really matter where they go from week-to-week, as the car for each track is sitting at the shop until race week. Even if they ran Bristol, Martinsville, and Richmond in three consecutive weeks, the hauler would still drive out and back each week to deliver a different set of cars to each track. Putting Texas between two closer race dates means that the truck drivers get two relatively short drives on each side of a long drive.

That, and you don't want to have races in the same area of the country back-to-back because it hurts attendance for both of them.

Not sure how people hate both guys, JJ I can understand he keeps winning but even that hate is petty and stupid. As for Junior he's a nice guy was always and still is critical of his driving when he screws up or even when he does good, and at least one of the more honest. I'd take guy like those two over little girl scouts name Brad Keselowski
This was back in 2004 (I was 7 at the time so my reasoning wasn't rational) and my Cousins, Aunt and Uncle absolutely loved Jr., so I hated him just because I didn't like them making fun of when Jr. beat Gordon.

I saw this at a Burger King of all places in Alabama while traveling to Florida. The 2012 Daytona 500 Safety Car:

Might be one of the ones not used for the race. Hard to tell if it's the official official car or not, without seeing proper documentation.

Well it is in Alabama where everyone is a nascar fan so there are probably several of them.

Here is a picture of the safety car from a google search. It appears to have the same wheel covers and paint scheme. Also, does nascar keep the lights or are those standard on them?

Those definitely are not the same wheels. One has triangle-shaped spokes, while the other has straight spokes.

One car also has red paint between the windows, where the other has black paint.

The lights are not permitted to be on the car if it's intended for road use, and I think NASCAR has ownership of the lights anyway.

Any car officially made to go with the set of pace cars would all look the same, so this is either a replica, or somewhere along it had it's wheels swapped. I'd say this was probably one of the show car variants.
If it were this years 500, it'd be easy to tell, just look for the scorch marks
It would also be a Chevy SS and not a Camry.

Funny enough, I actually saw the pace car at the State fair three years ago (Video here, at 0:36)

Seemed to have the lights on the top.

Sorry i was l was posting that from my phone, I couldn't tell and was very tired.

Depending on the manufacturers advertising campaign, there have been up to 100 or so duplicate "pace cars" at any given race. They often have them set out for display at the track and even throughout the town on race weekend. I've come across several duplicate pace cars over the years at the Chevy dealership I work at. The one actual pace car I've seen had all the safety lights removed, but you could see evidence of them. As in there were holes in the rear of the headlamp assemblies and holes in the inner trunk from extra bulbs and wiring. This is not an official summary of Nascar pace cars, only what I've come across.

That's pretty accurate for most, if not all pace cars.

The bigger the race, the more cars they create for it, and since about 4-6 are used for the actual event, any others are made for promotional purposes and those are the ones that are later sold to the public. The ones that end up being used for the event typically go to places like Barrett-Jackson and other similar car auctions.

I've always thought Chevy, Ford, and Toyota should have a option where you could spend 10 grand more on an SS, Fusion, or Camry and have it come fully livered while being street legal. I'd totally trade in my Corolla and spend an extra $10k to have a Nemechek Camry

I vaguely remember seeing a bunch of Grand Prix' and Luminas in the early 90s on dealer lots wearing STP and Goodwrench attire...

There was a Thunderbird going around here with Havoline on it. I remember a couple Goodwrench cars as well. One of them being an El Camino.

The B.K. car is a good copy but the graphics are incorrectly spaced. The Camry lettering is out of position along with the red B pillars. The real pace car has upgraded suspension, brakes and different wheels too compared to the promo car which looks pretty stock minus the wrap and light bar.

They're trying to take power away from the engines. Going from 5.9L to 5.0L and losing about 100 horsepower, down to about 750.

They tried to talk as though its a safety and competition thing, but I see it as a cost cutting measure.

It's not really going to save any money. The best cranks/rods/pistons at 302ci will still be just as expensive as the best cranks/rods/pistons at 358ci. The only thing they are doing is slowing them down in speed, not in price.
