I like the lines on. Best way to avoid it being a problem is by being in front off them all

That's pretty hard on my friends list :P!

My god you are fast. I can not believe that people have run a faster time than that. The line looks flawless. Good run man. Stay quick.

Cheers :), I loose a little at the top, the rest is just tiny parts on each of the corners!

Gotta say I love your driving style man. Very clean and controlled- not the kind of edgy, jerky, throw-it-against-the-wall-and-hope-it-sticks driving you see in some of the top time trialers. You make it look easy. Are you involved in real-life racing at all?
This is the lap that will be used for the guide!

2:15.257 new PB with the stick, getting closer to my target of a 2.14, biggest loss is in the downhill section where i'm losing 1.5 seconds on the top time's. Waiting for @Tidgney 's guide so i can hopefully see better where i'm going wrong.

That top guy loves handbrake so much
After watching his replay I had to give it a try
Wasn't successful in improving my time
But did see how when nailed correctly it helped

Just too hard to learn the technique and string it together for my taste.

I'm at a 2:14.0xx and only see a 13.5xx if I'm lucky

Lost for words being down 1.9 seconds right now...

Improved to a 2:14.4 yesterday, but was a wuss through the last 2 corners and my run through Forrest Elbow was not great. Nailed it to the top of the Mountain though, ideally now looking to net a high 2:13.

2'14.388

Have started chasing my ghost with ABS 0. Faster through first 3 sectors, but having trouble pulling up at the end of the straight.

Had to set GT play aside for a few days. Maybe a good thing, starting to finally get comfortable to get aggressive w/ the new wheel. Not a rocket by any means but very happy w/ progress, which is all I could ask at this point.

2:17.480 exceeds expectations for the weekend for me. Realy enjoying round 3 above the others. Nice to have some speed and challenges to force focus on progression. Before GT A R3 only had a handful of laps around Mnt. Panorama, realy dig the layout!

Stay in bounds, stay on the edge, and have fun :gtpflag:

Hell... I really struggled to gold that one.

Thanks to all for your suggestion of setting traction control to 0, it helped a lot.
This car requires early braking and taking corners at slow speed. The problem is that I usually brake late (hence my usual setting of Front 7 and Rear 5 for brakes)...

Finally, I made it after approx. 25 laps ().

Anyway, I don't like GTRs (I use them only when there is no other alternative), and that one will not help change my mind. :embarrassed:

Well, now I still have to get gold in Round 2... The Z is way too slow and its rear wheels are obsessed with the idea of becoming the front wheels. :boggled:

Currently sitting at ~2:19.250, but I know I could easily smoke that by a good quarter. The only thing really killing me is the last turn, and the chink in the back stretch.

He probably did a really slow time which put him in last place. :)
That still doesn't seem right. There were over 150k people who entered from the US alone last year. And we didn't even have the highest entries.

This can't be right. Is there anyway we can see where we stand in our region? Anyway to find out how many entries total or at least in our country?

If it's only 60k people, what the F... Was feeling pretty good about hardly using stock cars or anything other than slicks since GT5 and hanging in the too few thousand...but if there are only 60k entrants (which seems crazy)...not as proud of time as I thought I was for what I've put into gt5 and 6 haha.

Here's the qualifier from last year, it seems the times have gone, but the total entries is still there and is reading 262,000. Either that's wrong, which it isn't from what I remember, or PD were just saying the number of entries = number of people who downloaded the demo.

Looks like 326,630 for round three last year. You can see it file down from round to round. People giving up. Over half a million started at round one and down to 2xx,XXX for the qualifier.

Is it regionals after round four or is there another qualifier, even with three and four counting (how and to what extent we don't know exactly).

Nationals are after round 4. GTA said that there will be a sort function for countries - this seems to mean that they are taking the top fastest Americans nationwide, rather than breaking it down by regions as in past years.

It is a tank, no doubt! Those are common settings for me as well. Unfortunately we're probably dealing w/ 5/5 here.

It's true we don't want a Drift Academy, but it would be nice if it weren't a snow plow. Loose is fast! I imagine tho, from some of the vids I have seen, it will be much the same at Race Camp for those who get there. So, now is the time to get use to good braking zone habits and corner entry to suit a tight (race) car and keep 'entry focus' on getting the most drive off. The sooner you can get on the juice the better...

Where did you get this info?
One of my friends did a really slow time and messaged me the rank he is at.
EDIT; I think the number of entries is down because less people bought GT6 than expected. If GT Academy was released as downloadable content like is was before, the number of entries would be higher.

Was he able to scroll to the bottom?

Yes, I think he ran about a 15 minute lap. He was around 1 or 2 from the bottom but the amount of people getting higher times than that lap were happening quicker than the leaderboards could process them, so the rankings may be off by a few.

Just did a 2:12.490 even though I clipped the grass at the last turn and drifted it  Theoretical best is now a high 2:12.3. :)

Awesome Lap! 👍

...makes my new best of 2:17.080 look very sad, but gives a guy perspective on how it's supposed to look.

Edit/Update: Thanks for the inspiration @Spurgy 777! The vid helped step it up in a few areas...still along way to go, but I'm very pleased w/ my new time of 2:16.487. 👍

...

On a side note: Have you ever known a wall when brushed to seemingly explode  It's like wow you hit this spot here your car is destroyed because it has C4 laced in the wall...stops you dead and your done!

Well done, that's a big improvement, keep it up 👍:)

And I've had my car stop dead a couple of times hitting that wall at T2 :P

I do not understand why I cannot make this car turn like I see in the videos. I really wish I could see some steering input.

Maybe if @Tidgney is feeling really nice, he can make a video showing his steering inputs. :)

The main things for getting the car turned in is to make sure you get the car slowed down, and then get the nose to the inside if the corner. Most of these corners will drag you round when you're tight on the inside, but you drift up half a car width you'll just understeer wide. It may even help if you turn in slightly early like I do just to make sure you hook up the camber.

So I finally understand the 3rd sector.... The big killer for me was the dipper and forest's elbow!!! However now just have to string everything together... with a 2:13.106, I can/have been .145 faster in the 1st sector... around .100 in the 2nd sector, about even 3rd sector and .150\.160 in the last sector... so really i have a 2:12.7XX in there somewhere... Just have to put it together... arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
