2:13.461 :D

Good for 10th in the UK and 75th worldwide.

Is this challenge crashing anybody elses ps3? :(

No crashes here. Well, at least not PS3 crashes. *picture of hundreds of smashed white GT-Rs*

Sorry to hear that round 3 isn't playing nice with you. It's most likely the track that's causing it, it's quite intensive on the PS3 and has been known to cause frame-rate issues.

Is there anything u suggest? Its always at the very start just after it says "start" it sound glitches then just freezes and have to quit game.

I can confirm setting GT6 to SHARPEN IMAGE in the video options greatly increases FPS on problem systems. In addition, "XMB" Display Settings, HDMI deep colour and dynamic range to "off" or "limited" eases the rendering burden as well.

Best I could do was 2:17.696, many off-track excursions were had before I could pull that off.

only had one session so far with 6 laps, only one was valid because I keep hitting the walls, 2.21.519 :indiff:

I suppose you could try deleting the installed game data. Not really sure what else I can suggest I'm afraid :(

I don't get what everyone is on about with these "silly boundaries", I have never driven this track and spent 45mins learning the track last night with ds3, I had no issues at all with any " stupid boundaries". If your constantly getting red lapped then as far as I can tell your just not using the racing line and your trying to cut corners. I have noticed though that if you do stray off the racing line you just get sucked out and lose buckets of time. The only red laps I got was hitting the wall and running off track (which are obvious)

DS3 users will struggle with this one, I can't see a ds3 user getting into the 2:12s, although very close. I'm only on a 2:15.0 at the moment with a d

This thread is killing me with everyone crying. If it were easy it wouldn't be a worldwide competition to find the best drivers. Learn and adapt folks. Quit crying. GT Academy in real life would love sending you home the first second you cry about a setup or track. Shut up and race. This coming from a guy who barely pushed a silver in round 3 and loved every second of it. Have a great day drivers.

Had it happen once..however my game had been paused for around 20 mins and in that time Ben had updated his time..thats what i put it down to....that was the only time.

Not crashing but the last two sessions I couldn't even get a lap in before the sound starting cutting out. Left the track and the sound was still cutting out in the menus so I'm pretty much done with this TT. Too bad, I was really enjoying it:grumpy:

I love this combo but some of the track boundaries are nonsensical. There's no reason to redflag a lap between the walls unless you hit the wall, that's the logical track boundary. On the other hand, there are some walls you can lightly bounce off of and still get a clean lap, which also makes no sense.

If we don't express our displeasure and just suck up whatever we get, how are they going to know we want reasonable and logical changes made?

Much like any political system, it just doesn't make a difference. It's infuriating!

Can somebody tell PD the White lines are not the track boundary.

It is a public road for 50 weeks of the year and all public roads in Australia have a white line painted on the sides.

The V8 supercars do not get red flaged if they put a wheel over the white line.

I am currently at 1:18.151 and I know I can go faster, just those stupid white lines keep throwing up red flags.

The white lines ARE the track boundary. On all tracks! Usually you are allowed two wheels outside it though.
Here we aren't even allowed one in some places.

From FIA's rulebook:
"20.2 Drivers must use the track at all times. For the avoidance of doubt the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not.
A driver will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with the track.
Should a car leave the track the driver may re-join, however, this may only be done when it is safe to do so and without gaining any lasting advantage. At the absolute discretion of the race director a driver may be given the opportunity to give back the whole of any advantage he gained by leaving the track."

Hit the nail on the head with that one man!

Gold on first recorded lap - 1:18.964, but it took me 30 minutes to do it! Using a DS3 and hated every second of it... I think I may have another go with the ABS higher, as I'm matching the ghosts braking points and then unable to get within a metre of the apex, the understeer is awful yet again. The fact you can't even begin to approach the outside of the circuit in fear of a DQ for touching the line only compounds the issue and heavily restricts the racing line I am able to take.

This "learn and adjust" approach - for sure, I could sink hours of my time into finding the invisible limits set on this one off event and then drive to them. But can't it just be clear from the off, at least 1 wheel must remain within the white lines? I would enjoy sinking time into an event if I was adjusting to the GTR and Bathurst, but my primary thought at all times is staying far away from edges and actually setting the lap. For example, I was rounding the final corner on an other invalidated lap. Stupidly, I shifted focus to turn 1 on the flying lap, touched the outside kerb and invalidated the next lap too.

I think my approach will be to buy a GTR, put the sport hards on and do a time trial session instead. Interesting to see what times can be done then, but of course the set-up will probably be entirely different. I'll post time if I get a chance to do this tonight.

I'm enjoying the discomfort with the track limits. Regrettably the discomfort with the number of 'red' laps is probably greatest for those of us without a great deal of speed or control ;)

It seems to me that it's been set up as a street circuit, but with the walls only part way around. I have noticed that the DQ areas tend to be beyond the kerbs though or it is on the first and last corners at least. You can hit the kerbs, but get back across the white line before the kerbs end otherwise great sadness ensues ...

There's a lot that can go wrong on this track. Usually between turns 11 and 18 where it's really easy to put a wheel on the grass or glance one of the walls. And also turn 20 where I find the steering goes really light and it's a battle to keep the car on the track. Still 0.5 off gold at present.

Just a quick session today before I head off to Brands Hatch :D Improved to a 2:12.876, was on for a low .8 into the last corner but ran a little wide. Should hopefully be in the .7s next time I get on :)

Down to a 2:13.258 for 66th worldwide and 8th in the UK.

Split times: 20.345 - 1:08.129 - 1:42.345 - 2:13.258

Really pleased with T1, about 0.07 faster than Dan Holland. Not so pleased with T2, lost over 0.25 compared to a good run and over 0.5 to Dan, so a 2:12.9xx is very possible. (My current perfect lap would be a 2:12.7xx.)

Do I have to learn how to drive boats to the top of mountains and back to win GT Academy?

Sitting at a 2:18.0xx, but I lost I think, like 3 seconds on turn 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 18 and 23

And it took me 1 hour to get a clean lap :irked:

With me outside the top 100 thought it best I get back inside it tonight, I'll give it a good go tomorrow and then it's GT Academy guide time :)! Tonight got a 2:13.036 and some amazing sector 1's! a few .3xxs including that lap which is quite nice :)! Really nailing that first corner! I also finally understand the middle sector so will easily drop into the 12.xxs and may end up in top 10 if I get a good lap in tomorrow :D!
