Hi Wardez,

I see you deleted my thread. Sorry if I broke the rules or something. I thought it warranted a separate thread and thought it would be good for anyone searching for stuff about this.

Anyway, got in touch with someone at Sony Ireland (I was a national finalist in 2010 and had some contact information) and they confirmed that Ireland is indeed not in this year. They said they'll try and see about getting back in next year though I guess there's no guarantee.

Our search engine is much better now, it'll easily be found here and keeping it all in once place makes it even better for exposure over time 👍

Is the final round being held at Brands Hatch too? If so I'm going to be pissed.

With a broken hand I haven't got a hope in hell of being quick on the wheel. Can't even brush my damn teeth with my right hand.

Pretty sure we don't know yet, the background picture on the round selection screen is at Nurb, and with possible Senna DLC, it might use Interlagos.

How long until your hand gets better?

Managed to get down to a 1:03.341 for 73rd place, 12th in UK. :)

At the T1 marker, I'm pretty much level with ROH-fuvarospetya. Coming out of Graham Hill Bend, we're still level, but because he has an extra 1 mph he is able to gain a full 0.117 by the T2 marker. He takes a much tighter line through McLaren, gaining another 0.05, and manages to maintain more speed through Clark Curve, gaining another 0.050 with the extra exit speed to the line.

It appears my Achilles heel on this track is Graham Hill Bend; I can't seem to get it right. Even just another 0.5 mph coming out of the bend would be enough to climb a further 25 places.

3 weeks till the cast comes off, with no guarantee it will heal properly.

You can probably get the Leaf around with one hand, but the faster cars with multiple gears... :(

Good luck with the healing, mate, and just remember, there's always the possibility of next year.

Gave this about 45 minutes last night, I set a 1:03.8xx which put me 2015th at the time and 2035th already by the time I finished my session! Using my DS3 for now but I am really struggling to get a feel for the front end, when it will turn in and when it won't. I have a wheel and pedal set (somewhere) that I will probably try to set up before the end. Can see it taking a bit of time to get used to it again!

Afterwards I did the Monster Tajima seasonal event, and found that my times were greatly helped when patient on the throttle and only putting it down at the exit of the corner. I think this might help me understand why I was with the ghost into the corners, lost something in the middle and still had a decent run down the next straight. No time tonight for a test, but I'll be back at it tomorrow evening!

Can't you just use your hand that is not broken?

One hand on the wheel? Are you mad? I wouldn't have a hope in hell of setting a quick time with just one hand, I won't be able to change gear either.
At least you be able race in the academy. Your hand probaly will be ok untill june.

Which hand is broken and which wheel do you use? If your right hand works and have DFGT, it is possible to use manual in the game, if not automatic using any hand for steering will do and should be able to be competitive still. Might improve your techniques too having to use only one hand. Best start practising ;). 2nd of June is when final round starts so your broken hand might have healed by then too and you may also be faster with extra practice using one hand.

My right hand, and I will be on the DFGT. I will give it a shot for sure, not expecting great things though.

I suppose only way to use manual is use the sequential shifter if possible using right hand, if not automatic shouldn't be that much slower. Main thing though is to improve speed in game in order to qualify, there are so many opportunities to improve speed in the game long time before final round starts that you should have a good idea how you would do before even knowing what final round event is. Best of luck 👍.

Automatics in regular cars have four gears most of the time. The Leaf's an electric car so it doesn't use a transmission since iit's always putting out 100% No matter what speed or work needed.

Yeah, that was a joke guys! Someone was saying they broke thier hand so couldnt change gear. I was incinuating that they didnt need to!

Have done a couple of shortish sessions on DS3 and got 1:04.5xx or something. Pretty happy with that as I'm not used to DS3 any more.

Can't try with my DF Pro as the power seems to be broken and waiting for a new adaptor. If it is the power connector in the unit then will look for a used G25 or G27 and hope I can get wheel'd up again before the later levels.

I don't actually get how gt academy works atm. Does everyone go through to round 2? How do they pick who goes to Silverstone if there is 4 rounds? I'm very confused, bot seen it explained anywhere.

There is likely to be a post in the news or one in the forum that fully explains the rules, or it will be in the T&C on Sony/Nissan website in full

IIRC only round 4 counts but the earlier 3 rounds may be used by GT Academy in some unknown way for tie breakers or evidence of allround performance.

The top 14 go to country finals to go up against a bunch of others qualified from other events with then 14 going to boot camp. Or something like that :)
