Ah right, so no one really knows then? I don't want all my hard work in the leaf to be for nothing haha. I think I'm about 15th in the UK or something, gonna need to find more time :/. Thanks though! :)

I would think only Round 4 results will count to be honest, but nobody knows for sure. Be harsh if not, I got gold in Round 1 and have no urge to race in the Leaf again to improve my time further really.

TURNER_042 there are probably a number of people above you in the UK who can't take part due to being at boot camp before - Tidgney or someone may be able to name a few.

I don't actually get how gt academy works atm. Does everyone go through to round 2? How do they pick who goes to Silverstone if there is 4 rounds? I'm very confused, bot seen it explained anywhere.
Round 1,2,3 are practice ,PD doesnt even look at them (they are more commercial for nissan). The fastest in round 4 go to national finals and then to silverstone

The only point in the first three rounds is getting the required result to progress, which has been bronze the last two years. Of course, if you aren't getting gold effortlessly, you aren't getting the overall win anyway...

Ah ok cheers for clearing it up for me, I wont try and improve my leaf time any further then. :)
There's no harm in using these early stages as a bit of practice, but you certainly don't want to burn yourself out by trying to achieve your absolute best at this stage :)

I haven't played GT6 for a long time due to family reasons, so im glad to get the practice in. Returned to GT6 yesterday and managed a 1.03:900 after 20mins.

Looking forward to putting some effort into this competition.

Hi, does anyone know if the Republic of Ireland are included in the UK or if they're in it at all? Its my first time trying out GT academy.

Haven't gone back to this in a few days probably out of the top 1000 now.. :-(..

Hopefully get back on it over the weekend..

Best I've done so far is 1.03.602, still haven't get paddock hill bend sorted... God dam cones..:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Closest I've been to prasinar is .280 behind on first split.... shocking..

Hopefully get it all together and get below 1.03.5.. Would be happy with that.

Good to see 27 uk guys on the top 250..
2nd place at the moment.... Spain kicking it with 50 in the top 250..

M

There will be a few that won't be able to take part, me for one but it really is dependant on when the official rules are released (Although I know I won't from the wording already put in).

Round 4 is the one that will probably be the only one that counts, however rounds 1 - 3 will be excellent practice for anyone. Round 1 for example, is proving to be very very competitive where every thousandth counts... So here you can practice (Well these techniques are in my laps at least);

Precise Steering,
Throttle application,
Braking (Trail braking is slightly in there)
Weight manipulation,
Lift off over steer (Or how the game perceives it at least) as well as using the tracks strengths and generally getting a good head start on time trialling... Your also facing off against some of the best in the world in this time-trial and especially round 4, and it will be one of the only times you get to really see how you fair up!

Aim high, think positive, understand your lap, adapt and build yourself on becoming a better driver (Even if your 10000th in the world). O and enjoy the competition!

Does this mean that they're only excluding competitors that took part last year? So people from two years ago can compete again? If that's how they're doing it then it's pretty good :)

I have no idea bandit :(, Australia have a unique situation in that it's sort of a different competition. I must admit as we had the least amount of driving comparing to most years I would like to think another opportunity would be good! But I guess we have to wait and see, although maybe by the time I can enter I'll be racing on my own lol!

Hmm yeah, I hope they do end up doing that for us. When I was at the O2 arena, they've got a setup with some pods inside their Nissan Innovation Station. I set the fastest lap time on their and then one of the staff recognised me off tv, so I was talking a bit about the competition to them. They were very surprised that we weren't allowed to enter the competition again, so hopefully Nissan have some sense and let us all back in!

I'd like to see you guys get another chance. You're clearly good enough, just not the number one for that year. Mind you as my time is 1:04.026 I'm unlikely to be affected by not getting a place ;)

Guys, if any of you have done live events and/or doing it, help. Read this:
The amateurs are at it again. In the morning we were getting 5 minutes, then they take the fastest clean lap.

1) They're saying I'm not allowed to go again, unless I "wait half an hour or an hour". I thought it's ********, called them out, they said it's in the rules. They handed me the papers, I read every word of the rules and regulations and there's nothing regarding that.
2) When I went again hours later, they changed the rules. If you get ONE invalid lap, your whole session is invalid. So if you put a wheel in one of the glitched* areas at Silverstone, you're out.

*There's an exploit at turn 6. If you brake late, take an invisible apex in the middle of the track and go completely off before the cones, then rejoin the track later, it's a valid lap :/. I didn't know about this until it's late. You gain time in entry, mid corner and heaps of speed on the exit. However if you miss that invisible entrance and put a single wheel on the white line, it's invalid.

Is that how it works over there?

Well, the judges didn't think so, but I know a lot of people that watched thought I was number one, so I'd like to have another chance for sure.

Yeah i completely agree, i've learned a lot from this round, and it is a good bit of fun trying to improve. Im 88th now, not been on it in a few days, as i have lots of Uni work in very soon haha. When Uni is finished, hopefully i will have more time :). Looking for a job in F1 at the moment.

Ye this round can be important to improve your general driving, I think it's a great start to the academy 👍

A Job in F1 sounds exciting! I've got a friend nearby to us (I see your local being from Preston so if you see a Fiesta ST in Panther black driving about it may be me :D) who works on an F3 car actually! I assume you'd have to go down to Bucks and move there really for F1 related stuff??

You have a Fiesta ST?

Only the MK6 not the new one, but I prefer the looks of the MK6 vs the 7! I also would never buy a new car as they depreciate far to much :)! But it's a fun little car, doesn't quite match the 900bhp GTR in the village though... Or the Ferraris that roam about!

I have the new mark 7 Fiesta ST in blue (no go faster stripes). It's a brilliant fun car but they both are. There's a black mark 6 like yours just down the road from me. I think the new model has taken over hot hatch honours from the old 2 litre Clio. Depreciation hopefully won't be an issue as I plan to keep it for many years and mileage won't be high.

I've had my first go at this now, 1:03.330 after an hour yesterday. It is possible to beat Prasinar, I've been 0.03 faster than him in the middle sector.

EDIT: Right, down to a 1:03.137 now, had a .680 first sector, was level with Prasinar going into the hairpin but I braked a bit early. Didn't do a great middle sector and messed up the last sector a bit.

Oh yeah didn't realise you were local, i was in blackpool last week haha! Im only here because of Uni (Myerscough college), dont know if you have heard about it. Ah ok, well i worked for m-sport on the JWRC in france and portugal, which was awesomely fun. But i'm originally from down south, so moving down there isn't a problem for me. Nice ST too! doesn't beat the fiesta's up at m-sport though ;). haha

Did a 1:03.043 now, had a great first sector, was ahead of Prasinar going into turn 2, I did it pretty well but not quite as good as him, so I did a .649 first split. I then gained on him through the next corner, I didn't get the best exit though so by the end of the straight we were level again, I messed up the last corner slightly and lost 0.04 seconds.

Wasting no time to get to the front. :) I'm gonna do another run so I can attempt to stay ahead of you.
