I've done countless laps in an s2000 on apricot hill and this 370z is horrible to adapt to! :banghead:

Hopefully the last event will be the one that counts as I doubt I can even make it in the top 1000 this time.

Edit: Did a 1:35.804 which as of writing is 693rd, so i'm 17% less frustrated haha!

Yo Guys,

UK T&C up! http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/academy/2014/terms/

A few interesting things;

  • Mini game event to decide 8 of the national final places (Mini competition before that to get to the 8)
  • 6 from National live events
  • Used to be having a racing licence for a period of years, now it seems at all? Very interesting to know for future.

Very interesting to read some of the things in there!

I officially can't enter this year (I sorta new that anyway) so good luck all!

can i ask some advice, im on for a low 35 but im losing it all at the hairpin, im braking late, putting it in 2nd gear, roll it into the apex then gradually accelerate out in 2nd gear but im losing so much, opinions?

If your struggling for rotation I would try and go for a really smooth approach and brake late and go for the later turn in, otherwise it's all about getting a bit lucky with rotation :). But to be honest I wouldn't worry about round 2 in the slightest, just worry about round 4, it's officially the only on that counts reading the rules!

What? Eight of the 28 national finalists will be chosen for being good at a Facebook game?

I have a strong aversion to Facebook, mainly because I was encouraged forced to join by my sister just because she wanted to make more progress on FarmVille. :yuck: The endless notifications and requests didn't help, either; even enough I rarely actually signed in, I kept getting loads of useless and annoying e-mails. In the end I decided enough was enough and disabled my account. </facebook rant>

I have no idea what the mini-game will be like, but I bet it'll bear almost no resemblance to GT6. If that's the case, how can we be sure that the 26 mini-game finalists will actually be any good at GT6 itself? Even narrowed down to the best eight, I can't see the standard being anywhere near that of the other national finalists.

I will be shocked if a mini-game finalist actually makes it to Race Camp.

:nervous: I'm very close to not being eligible, lucky I didn't do a full season of racing this year. (or any so far in fact :P)

What do you think this will be a time trial without Ghosts post your times win the prize.

Did you also see finalist have to make a FUN VIDEO:embarrassed:

It just means that you have to have a full car licence i.e. You've passed your driving test in a car, either manual or automatic.

I'd say manual, just to be safe. They use some full manual cars during the finals, so it's likely that would be a requirement they'd have, at least in territories where there's a distinction between the two.

I've read the rules and I'm sorry but I'm young and don't know much. When it says we need the right licence of certain car group, what is that exactly?
That isn't what it says.

It says: "hold a fully unrestricted (not provisional) and valid driving licence, with the appropriate category of vehicle (car) clearly indicated, issued by the relevant national driving licensing authority in the Entrant’s current country of permanent residency (e.g. the DVLA in the UK), and that country must be listed as part of the Territory"

This means you must have a full, valid driving licence as recognised by the DVLA, with no restrictions, to drive a car - "Car" being the "appropriate category".

Here's the DVLA's list of categories - "B" is "Car". "B auto" would be a licence restricted to automatic cars only and would not qualify. "A" would be motorbikes, the wrong category and would not qualify.

My bad, manual driving test only then.

I got a little bypass op  to sleep through this Saturday then I'm hoping to be back in a week, catching up with the 2 rounds I've missed plus the final round in the GTR at Spa :dopey:- that'll be a tough 1.

See you back at the track as soon as mate  Make sure the NHS have Sky for Monaco & the INDY 500 on
Sunday :sly:

put in a short run of around 4 clean laps and got a time of 2:16.688 so far with the ds3, will try to get down into the 2:14's atleast by the end of the week before putting all my time into practicing for the final combo after the weekend. GL everyone

Okay, I just got a message when clicking on Round 3 that I'm "not resident in an eligible country"... er, I was last year (according to the fact I got the message while running to get gold for a friend who was offline in case he'd get prize cars, and didn't when I ran it), and I live an hour's drive from Silverstone. It's a good thing I'm not trying to qualify this year, huh. :boggled::lol::banghead:

2:15.738 with the pad, my first and final sectors are equivalent to top 10 times but i lose 1.5 seconds in the uphill part of the mountain section and 2 seconds in the downhill part :(

I'm kind of the opposite. I make up almost all my time in those sections. Though I won't pretend they are top 10 times!

Do you have to get gold to progress to the final round?

Im struggling to get gold round Bathurst.:banghead:

well done guys, usual names at top.
currently 18.184 puts me #17 im always 1-2 seconds up, but losing it all in the section after pohoun, any tips?
anyway well done guys, im off college now, hope to return and im still top 20 lol.

Well done to everyone so far! I've only done 3 complete laps in the official challenge but I've got a 2:17.089 so far which is 39th as of writing. I need to be a bit braver in a couple of corners to cut a second off but below a 2'16 would be amazing (and extremely lucky!).

The car is genuinely amazing on this track and my favourite challenge to date :D

Best of luck to everyone here :gtpflag:
