is it me or is there a massive dead-zone in the center steering wise in the GTR GT3? there seems to be about a 20 degree dead-zone where nothing happens, then you turn the wheels a little more and suddenly a lot of steering angle happens.
just feels really odd to me

G27 btw

It's probably due to the weird toe angles and heavy rear downforce in the GT-R NISMO GT3. I experienced it first in last year's GT6 demo and found it incredibly awkward to drive compared to the tuned 370Z. Given your performance in the previous rounds, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually. 👍

It seems fine for me and I'm using my G27.

17.2 and was 0.5 faster but messed up. i reckon tomorrow i could do better as my wheel settings aren't very good. any set up tips please?
im sat at 152nd. i know thats not enough to go through, but how many will be took through, and what rank would progress after those who can't progress are taken out?

Getting massively frustrated should of been on a sub 16 by now after being over 0.8 up at t2 on my best time I've lost count how many times but I keep messing up the final chicane I either clip a cone , out brake myself or plain just go to slow and lose all the time :(

With the UK national final (and Facebook live event) just a week away, I thought it might be a good time to bring this thread back to life.

One idea I've had (actually stolen from the NA discussion thread :mischievous:) is to compile a list of real names of the UK finalists. Here are the names I've got so far:

Online qualifiers
Spurgy777 (@Spurgy 777) - Ben Spurge
GTP_GhostDriver (@GTPGhost) - Shane Green
Jackthelad1992 (@kremmen64) - Jack Keithley
GTP_Chap89 (@GTP_Chap89) - David Chapleo
GTP_gmmatthew (@gm matthew) - Matthew Daniels ;)
SMillar13 (@The Watcher) - Stuart Millar
rclark83 (@rclark83) - Ryan Clark
JLWilko - Luke Wilkins

Facebook qualifiers
GTP_Caine (@gtpcaine) - Tim Poole
Albionstar (@GTP_macca) - Tom McNally
Glen-Alz-81 (@Glenalz81) - Alistair Glen
galaia2004 (@galaia2004) - John Galley
Peaster (@Peaster) - David Pearson
DJJonnio (@Jonnio) - John Brookes

If you've qualified for the UK national final, or even the Facebook live event, feel free to post your real name so we know who's who, or not if you wish to remain anonymous (but expect the others to figure it out anyway :sly:).

As an additional note, I had assumed that nascar_wheelman was ineligible since his listed name was J. O'Neill, which I took to be Jack O'Neill who was at the 2012 Race Camp. However, it looks like VR-dmjh32 never received an invite to this year's final (link), so I guess nascar_wheelman was eligible after all. One possibility is that it's actually Jack's brother Andy O'Neill, who incidentally was also at last year's national final. Or it could just be a completely different person; O'Neill is not a particularly uncommon surname.

Just one week to go... the wait is killing me.

You can add me to the list of Facebook qualifiers
galaia2004 (@galaia2004) - John Galley

Not sure how I got the invite but I will be there to make up the numbers. I won't be any concern for others that are going but I'm looking forward to it.

So for those that have been to the finals before, if we manage to get through what sort of format has the day taken in previous years?

Also what is the fitness test likely to be? Saw that the Indian finalists did a beep test so I'm assuming it will be along the same lines?

I'm not sure how the gaming part will be structured, since previous national finals were spread over two days. With regards to fitness, there's the sergeant jump, the plank, press-ups and the bleep test (or whatever you want to call it).

Well the Facebook Live Event is tomorrow, see you guys there.
If you see a green Ford Focus broken down en route, please stop! Taking the wife's car as its better on fuel compared to my own, but discovered last week her diff is a little.. well... iffy. So um, just hoping it will make it there without going bang!

Makes me feel a tad better about my Ford Ka. Slow (0-60 in 14.3 seconds), no CD player nor MP3 connectivity, no air conditioning, but at least it can get me from place to place without threatening to explode

Will do, though I'm actually having to get a lift down there due to my car being...currently indisposed.

Going down in my dads bmw because I don't think my poor little Clio will make the journey, nevermind a return trip :sly:

I shall see you all on Tuesday - no, I've not qualified (pffft!) but I'll be there as media representing GTPlanet as usual. Good to see some familiar faces going though I hope for some of them it's the last time I see them in a UK final because they qualify for Race Camp this year :D

I'm currently looking to arrive at the hotel somewhere around 7 pm. For those not attending the national final, I'll be posting updates as they happen on my Twitter account. I'm also hoping to capture some footage so I can make a video about the event much like Tidgney did last year.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon :gtpflag:
