I'm referring to street legal & factory made Mustangs, but okay.

Which is why we corrected him, but still even so 750 is easily achievable these groups. It being a necessity is the issue in an AWD package it'd be cool and probably more useful than RWD. However, as said by @SlipZtrEm the last thing Ford needs is to add weight.

I actually did like the idea of an AWD Mustang myself, especially if Ford does consider dumping 750hp into their pony. Of course, I guess Slip is right; the Mustang should be losing weight rather than gaining it.

I still would like to know how this "Ford owns Shelby" stuff is coming up.
You know, to be honest, I don't know. Wiki says Carroll Shelby International is the company that retains complete control over everything & Shelby America produces all the cars as its own manufacturer. So, unless Slash can find his link, I'm betting you're on the side that believes Ford has no control & I'd be prompted to agree.

I think it's probably a situation similar to RUF & Porsche.

AWD, like others have said it doesn't need any more weight. And when does the horsepower war stop? With the Hellcat Challenger at 707hp I bet the top tier Mustang will challenge that number. But I'd rather see a lighter car that could attack a race track than just insane HP bragging rights.

If you ask me the C7 Z06 nailed it. 650hp/torque is plenty, still light weight, and the aggressive aero downforce package will make it a track beast. It will be a 10 sec car as well. I like the fact its not just a 1 trick pony and I would like to see the Mustang follow suit. I'd like a mix between the Boss 302 (which tracks nicely) and the GT500 that has the big power but isn't really consistent on the track. Not 2 different cars for different purposes. Although the new IRS will help.

Man, don't you remember back in the day when 600hp was only for the insane blow-your-arm-off supercars?

You know, only ten years ago?

I remember when 300 BHP was a lot of power. When Porsche offered a power pack on the 911 Turbo that pushed it past 450 BHP? That was insane.

Now you can get a nearly 300 BHP family sedan for less than $20,000. We live in crazy times.

What family sedan offers nearly 300 for less that 20K? Cause I'd love to get my hands on that. The only cars I know of that are getting near 300hp are between 27-32K. Which is out of my budget by two to five grand...hence why I wanted a Mustang but then came to reality after 10 minutes.

He's probably thinking of the Dodge Avenger. And yes, it offers 283 bhp. But it's totally rubbish.

He being YSSMAN.

Still not 20K or under it...thus I'm right, there isn't one not to take away from @YSSMAN cause I respect his knowledge and this is going off topic, I was just curious because I don't believe there to be a car that has 300hp new and 20k or under.

As for @Leonidae@MFT he knows his European cars, I highly doubt he'd get it mixed up with a Dodge, the notion of it is actually insulting and I'm not even him.

That's not new though...and let's just say I did buy one for 20k exactly I could still get a new Malibu with 260-270hp from a fuel efficient I4-T and brand new with warranty from the same auto group. Just saying, if it's used that we wanna talk about then the world is your oyster on that front with 300hp family sedans at 20k to under.

I believe you can get one with a dealer markdown for under 20K. And he was merely making a point which seems to have completely sailed over your head.

"He" referring to YSSMAN, of course.

How was I suppose to know that since another user other than myself and just posted 25 minutes before you that you most likely saw. So of course, in your own mind. And the 283hp version you can't get with a dealer markdown, not sure where you've shopped for Dodges before but even my family couldn't get one after buy 4 different dodges in a ten year span from the same dealer.

Crazy times is the new Volvo XC90. 2.0L I4 twin charged 400hp. Yikes.

Since I always come up with the flimsiest excuses to say it, I would have thought it would be just as obviously a joke as all the other times...

Sir these aren't joking times, this is serious business on the internet. And yes I know you were joking since you own one or two I forget, I know why you did it. I'm in no mood to laugh!:crazy:

(I kid of course, not sure when you're fully serious or not)

I'm speaking of the E90 335i's, not the latest ones.

Refer to the part where I'm talking about new cars...used cars and the world is your oyster. I'm sure if I try hard enough I can find a late 90s viper for 20k and just strap the family to the roof, see what I did there.

Beeblebrox got it right on the nose.

Well, flipping on over to the Dodge configurator, you can put together a 2014 Avenger SE and equip the 3.6L Pentastar V6, which is near enough 300 BHP. Total price as configured is $19,590 - but Dodge gets you by not including the $995 in destination charges. I'd be willing to bet that you'd be able to negotiate that down a little bit, but of course, that even assumes that SE models roll out of the factory with a V6, ever.

It just goes to show how downright insane Chrysler has been. But, in a weird way, super cool that they offer such quirky equipment packages still. It looks like that's falling by the wayside with the 2015 Chrysler 200. Cheapest nearly 300 BHP sedan now starts at over $26k.

Funny thing is it was a car I looked at and they didn't offer anything even after talking them down the best they were willing to do was 21.5k-22k and that wasn't the V6 variant.

It still makes me sad that I've driven sedans with more power than the Ferrari F40 I lusted after in childhood. All those dreams ruined by progress...

Did you ever think to start a charity pot, claim you need a new kidney and partial liver transplant? Then just funnel that over to the F40 fund? Couldn't hurt :sly:
