I'm referring to street legal & factory made Mustangs, but okay.Well considering there are models with up to 1,200hp from the factory I am not really surprised.

I still would like to know how this "Ford owns Shelby" stuff is coming up.Ford may own controlling stake in Shelby, but that doesn't mean Ford produces the cars.

Which is why we corrected him, but still even so 750 is easily achievable these groups. It being a necessity is the issue in an AWD package it'd be cool and probably more useful than RWD. However, as said by @SlipZtrEm the last thing Ford needs is to add weight.
You know, to be honest, I don't know. Wiki says Carroll Shelby International is the company that retains complete control over everything & Shelby America produces all the cars as its own manufacturer. So, unless Slash can find his link, I'm betting you're on the side that believes Ford has no control & I'd be prompted to agree.I still would like to know how this "Ford owns Shelby" stuff is coming up.
AWD, like others have said it doesn't need any more weight. And when does the horsepower war stop? With the Hellcat Challenger at 707hp I bet the top tier Mustang will challenge that number. But I'd rather see a lighter car that could attack a race track than just insane HP bragging rights.
If you ask me the C7 Z06 nailed it. 650hp/torque is plenty, still light weight, and the aggressive aero downforce package will make it a track beast. It will be a 10 sec car as well. I like the fact its not just a 1 trick pony and I would like to see the Mustang follow suit. I'd like a mix between the Boss 302 (which tracks nicely) and the GT500 that has the big power but isn't really consistent on the track. Not 2 different cars for different purposes. Although the new IRS will help.
Man, don't you remember back in the day when 600hp was only for the insane blow-your-arm-off supercars?
I remember when 300 BHP was a lot of power. When Porsche offered a power pack on the 911 Turbo that pushed it past 450 BHP? That was insane.
Now you can get a nearly 300 BHP family sedan for less than $20,000. We live in crazy times.
BMW's turbo models come to mind. 335i etc..
Seville. What family sedan offers nearly 300 for less that 20K?
He's probably thinking of the Dodge Avenger. And yes, it offers 283 bhp. But it's totally rubbish.
Seville.
I believe you can get one with a dealer markdown for under 20K. And he was merely making a point which seems to have completely sailed over your head.Still not 20K or under it...thus I'm right, there isn't one not to take away from @YSSMAN cause I respect his knowledge and this is going off topic, I was just curious because I don't believe there to be a car that has 300hp new and 20k or under.
"He" referring to YSSMAN, of course. As for @Leonidae@MFT he knows his European cars, I highly doubt he'd get it mixed up with a Dodge, the notion of it is actually insulting and I'm not even him.

Crazy times is the new Volvo XC90. 2.0L I4 twin charged 400hp. Yikes.I remember when 300 BHP was a lot of power. When Porsche offered a power pack on the 911 Turbo that pushed it past 450 BHP? That was insane.

Since I always come up with the flimsiest excuses to say it, I would have thought it would be just as obviously a joke as all the other times...That's not new though...

I'm speaking of the E90 335i's, not the latest ones.
What family sedan offers nearly 300 for less that 20K? Cause I'd love to get my hands on that.

Beeblebrox got it right on the nose.
Well, flipping on over to the Dodge configurator, you can put together a 2014 Avenger SE and equip the 3.6L Pentastar V6, which is near enough 300 BHP. Total price as configured is $19,590 - but Dodge gets you by not including the $995 in destination charges. I'd be willing to bet that you'd be able to negotiate that down a little bit, but of course, that even assumes that SE models roll out of the factory with a V6, ever.
It just goes to show how downright insane Chrysler has been. But, in a weird way, super cool that they offer such quirky equipment packages still. It looks like that's falling by the wayside with the 2015 Chrysler 200. Cheapest nearly 300 BHP sedan now starts at over $26k.
It still makes me sad that I've driven sedans with more power than the Ferrari F40 I lusted after in childhood. All those dreams ruined by progress...I remember when 300 BHP was a lot of power. When Porsche offered a power pack on the 911 Turbo that pushed it past 450 BHP? That was insane.

Indeed. Some not far off twice that. But none of them made me poo myself either which might not be the case in the F40.I can guarantee they all weighed considerably more than 1,100kg/2,400lbs though.
