That's pretty nasty, and by nasty I mean amazing.

In before "looks like a Camaro".

This is the second Mach 1 I have found looking like this. Yellow one not so much.

Take this with a grain of salt but I have just heard that Ford is tossing around the idea of a twin turbo 5.8L Coyote (derived from the Cobra Jet) in the new Cobra (not the GT350) Mustang's, apparently with AWD, estimated at around 750hp.

They know how to do it so I can see it happening, and with Dodge being bold about making a 700+ sub 80k V8 Sports Car, I didn't expect it to stay on their side of the court for long. To be honest I hope this stupid horse power race stops at some point. As others have said there is only so much power gets you to the point it then becomes useless, and it's not like there are tons of places to rip up 700+ much less 500 or more when ever you want.

I still think it's a bit of a long shot (and I'm am usually on top of things when it's Ford related).

I kinda like the horsepower race. I just want to see how stupid it'll get before they decide to calm back down. Right now, it's like the late '60s all over again (not quite as bad).

Considering they are getting 662hp out of the GT500 with the supercharged 5.8L, twin turbos on a 5.8L Coyote derived engine cranking out in the vicinity of 750 (more or less) I think is entirely possible.

With the addition of IRS in the new model, AWD is an interesting take but I'm sure it would piss off a lot of people (including myself to an extent) but none the less is an interesting idea.

Hmmm, an AWD Mustang, I don't know what to think of that. I'm just surprised to hear that Ford is maybe attempting to still build on more power on their Pony. You would think after the Shelby GT500 that they would stop.

Well considering there are models with up to 1,200hp from the factory I am not really surprised.

Regardless of street legality or not (the highest street legal is about 950), it can still be bought with absurd amounts of power.

Which street legal mustang that can be bought from Ford with 950 exist? Also yeah it does matter, because those non-street legal cars have an application to use that power in, and only that application alone. Bringing them up in a thread about current and future street legal mustangs is superfluous.

The 1000 comes with 950 in the street version and the non street version comes with 1,200hp.

When you consider you can buy a street legal Super Snake that has 850 in it and the standard GT500 has 662,, 750-ish standard doesn't seem that hard to believe. It sits nicely between the two while beating out the Hellcat.

I never said it did seem hard to believe, it's not. I said the horse power race gimmick is stupid. Still waiting on you showing me these are all street legal from Ford. Because it seems to me that your confusing work done by Shelby and that done by Ford.

Shelby is owned by Ford as of 2-3 years ago when they bought them out after Shelby died. I consider the 2 to go hand in hand, just like Ford's SVT division. Shelby and SVT are both Ford divisions, Shelby is not it's own thing anymore.

I guess Jaguar built cars in the late 90s and early 2000s are Fords too since they were owned by Ford...

Also the GT500 is touted as Ford's most powerful production car with 662 hp. Not the Super Snake that was built by Shelby before Ford supposedly bought them, nor the 1000 which is called such due to it's track car. That's my point it's like me talking about Lingenfelter Chevys or Katech who is in league with GM, it's not offered by Chevy even if you can get a warranty from these groups.

Wait, what? News to me. A quick google turned up squat.

I posted an article on it somewhere here on GTP when it happened and there was a small discussion about it IIRC. After Carroll passed in order to continue using the Shelby nameplate on the Mustangs Ford bought all the rights.

Buying naming rights isn't the same as owning and running the company though...

I believe there was a private sale of the entire company after the naming rights were bought out. But I can't remember for how much or when. Shelby is exclusive to Ford is the SVT team or Ford Racing. They are all independently run by various Ford teams.

No it's not you haven't shown me anything that says so. It's like Saleen at this point, works closely with Ford but not exclusive. Comparing Ford's own creation SVT/Ford Racing same stuff isn't on par with on outside entity Shelby. So now I'm going to have to ask you to find this info or just retract.

Their website says:

Committed to delivering cars and products that provide an unparalleled driving experience, the company has been at the forefront of automotive innovation since it was established in 1962.

I'm searching GTP for it with no luck. I remember posting it a while back too. I'll let it go until I find it though.

Just go to google type what ever the link was or wording if you can remember it in the post, then from there type GTPlanet at the end. When ever in a pinch I do this and find my posts quite easily. There you have one of my debating tricks, in another two years you'll get a better one.

If Ford offers 1,000 & 1,200Hp GT500s, explain why every salesmen would go cock-eyed when you asked to order one? Explain why to get one, you have dish out $65,000 for the GT500 first before Shelby touches it?

Because it's not offered by Ford, it's offered by Shelby. Ford may own controlling stake in Shelby, but that doesn't mean Ford produces the cars. That's like assuming Volkswagen produces the fastest car in the world just because Bugatti is owned by them or that Fiat produces the most prestigious cars in the world.

And thank god this is a render, else Ford would look like that obsessed ex-girlfriend who still loves you.
