No it wasn't, and the Mach 1 wasn't anything special...just look at the last one they released
Mach 1 also dates back to the late 60s. Ford will probably bring it back after the GT500.
GT500 will be the top dog mustang
GT350 will be phased out for a Mach 1
GT will be the base model V8

If the v8 lineup does disappear, I see the GT500 and GT350 value going up. Hell, the GT500 is doing a lot better than the ZL1. Both retailed around 55k, but the ZL1 can now be had for mid-upper 30s. (2013 and up GT500/ZL1 models).

Edit: I just checked wikipedia (yes, i know its open source), and the Mach 1 will return in 2018. lol, guess its not really special? :(

Why would the 350 ever be phased out for the Mach 1? The Mach 1 was never a track car in any variation it was always a street/drag car for those who wanted something fast from stop light to stop light back in the day, when that was actually promoted through the big three.

The GT350 was always a track car an on a different level than the Mach 1, same as today. Ford would sooner replace the 350 with what preceded it in the modern era...the Boss 302. I mean sure they could change it but looking at ford history they haven't ever done anything with the mustang that really deviates from what these cars were originally- meant to be.

That's not really true. It was arguably a better car than the SVT Cobra it replaced when the Cobra switched to supercharging. It lost the IRS (not that that was necessarily a con based on how iffy it could be, but the Cobra did handle better because of that and the better weight distribution), the Cobra specific interior bits and the unique body panels (instead getting the regular GT ones with stuff put on top), but it gained some of the newer engine parts from Terminator/Aviator/Marauder (different cams, better flowing heads, higher compression) so it actually had a bit more power than the Cobra even though it was rated as having less; and you could get it with a slushbox.

A Shelby GT500 is still possible for being a power house and as a chance for Ford to 1-up the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat or as a GT car. The Mach 1 phasing out the Shelby GT350, that's not likely at all. Like what another user said above me, the Shelby GT350 was always a track-based Mustang while the Mach 1 wasn't. The Mach 1 was for fun at the drag strip. Ford has no reason to get rid of the GT350 nameplate either other than to try something new.

The boss was phased out because Ford seems to think they only need one track oriented model, unlike GM with the Camaro. GT350 is what the boss 302 was for the last gen mustang, and in reality the GT350 in its life has always been a track car just like the 302, the Mach 1 never was. Like I said it could change, but Ford really hasn't shown anything that would stray from what they've stayed true to. That's the point I was trying to make. However, the 350 is a much better car all around than the 302 of last gen which was quite the performer even against the GT500. I don't really know why the 302 was phased out to be honest, I just imagine that Ford wanted to revive another name for a time and didn't see room for a 302 and GT350 at one time frame.

Yes the Cobra and Bullitt mustang both had better skid and CG rating than the Mach 1 which has many sourced parts from those two cars to begin with. The thing was if you wanted to perform with a Mustang why not buy either of those around the similar time frame. Sure you got more than what was said in that add posted by R1600, but the most memorable thing about that version of the Mach or mustangs for that time was the shaker hood. I don't recall it having more power than the Cobra from the magazines I've read, but if it did, cool. I just never cared for it nor see it or any other mach iteration as something that would soon replace a track/road variant of the Mustang.

They are everywhere for me mainly V6's and ecoboost's not seeing many V8 ones anywhere besides the dealerships.

Also someone has ruined one where i live all white with like 23" wheels on it well at least it is a V6 though.
 
Euro markets do in fact have clear tails from my understanding. :lol:
Oi, that can get really edgy out of context, you know. Maybe we have dirty tails, how do you know? :lol:

But yes, joke aside, I can confirm that Euro-spec cars do have clear tail lights, no red for us I suppose... I've seen a Mustang in person, I can ascertain this with confidence.
 
Well, it is an interesting design touch, but I don't find it tasteful in my honest opinion. It makes the rear void of personality, if that makes any sense, and it makes for a somewhat dull look when no lights are being used.

Call me traditional, but red tail lights would work better, especially in a red car...

Those actually would look fitting in a white car imo.

Red & white combo, huh? It does makes sense, yes, I just went for the "matching color" approach with the red.

But alas, Europe cannot even afford to decide on their tail light choice, because Ford does not allow for multiple choices in the first place...
 
There's a white Mustang in my local Ford dealer where I live. Might go and see it this week.

My personal proof in the pudding of how Euro-spec cars look with the white tail lights, with a red-bodied GT example at AutoClássico in Exponor, in October 4th earlier this year... Again, it is not downright ugly, but it something that puts me off somewhat when looking at them.
