Just tells me not to buy the 2015 Camaro Z/28 if I had the money. I mean really the true competition is the 16/17 Z/28 or ZL1 and that's the real thing Ford should worry about. But Ford has done an awesome job with the new mustang.

If course it will be better since it comes out after the 350R. Progress in a nut shell.

The real winners in the end are us, the enthusiasts, because they're both great cars, it just happens that the Mustang is a bit greater. And you'd have to spend 20-30k more at least to get something as potent from anyone else.

Development of it happened on the end of the 2016 350R...in other words when people don't have the new gen Camaro they test the old gen. Just like they tested an older Viper against the new Z06 when they should have waited for the ACR or something along that line.

The gen 6 is more align with the 350R than a Z/28 that is the same now (2015) as it was in 2013. Basically it was as the video said the 350 was made to beat the top performing Camaro on the street and the track. I guess the true test for someone in the market is if they should by a 2016 GT 350/350R or a Z28 MY 16/17

I wonder.. Once GM pushes out the ZL1 and Z/28.. Would it be far fetched to think that Ford could revive yet another classic badge and make a Cosworth model?

Other than using the GT500 nameplate again, I don't see what else Ford could do for model names. A Cosworth Mustang would be neat, but I doubt many Mustang fans know about cosworth. I guess the Mach 1 could be a contender or something else.

Hmm.. True that. And since Cosworth is more commonly associated with the RS moniker, perhaps Focus RS would be more likely target for such version.

Coming up with a name shouldn't be that hard. They can always pick up something like Mach1 or maybe something a bit more recent, such as the Mustang Cobra, or even the Terminator (cheesy AF these days, though).

But yeah, the current GT350(R) is hugely impressive to me. The M3 I want a price that I might eventually afford. I'm pretty sure GM will follow suite nicely with the upcoming higher-end versions of the Camaro, but I'm also pretty certain it'll be FI, using the LT4 or something. And that Voodoo V8 is friggin' glorious!

Unless GM rethinks their pricing (75k for the Z/28, for real..?!), GT350 siblings will be better bang for buck, even when you factor in that new Camaro is lighter.

But Cosworth nowadays produces parts for Mitsubishis, Subarus, Nissans and even Porsches...

Back in their Ford heyday, Cosworth were doing things for other manufacturers. The heads on some Vauxhall/Opel red top (C20XE) engines were 'Coscast'.

Keep in mind that the 2016 SS is pretty much bang-on where the Z/28 left off, performance wise. For $43k or so you can get all the goodies that get you there, and that's much more in-line with the GT350. I'm guessing a swap of wheel/rubber on the Camaro, and a better aero package would go a long way to make it a much better GT350-R competitor.

Well considering the GT350 wasn't even a thought to the larger public no it's not that crazy. For what you get in the Camaro compared to other cars you take to the track...75k is with in reason or if you bought yours on a black friday 50k +. Either way the Camaro Z28 has been in production since 2013 and thus was on a hill alone for some time to make the price justifiable. Now the Mustang is basically telling people that for 9k less you can be faster.

Cosworth? Was that name ever associated with mustangs? If anything, they will bring back the Mach1.
GT500 in 2017, mach 1 for 2018 refresh.

No it wasn't, and the Mach 1 wasn't anything special...just look at the last one they released

It looks cool, and shaker hood was a nice bonus.

The shaker hood was a cool feature, but the Mach 1 also came with a DOHC 4.6 engine vs SOHC for the GT, 45+ more horsepower (305 vs 260), upgraded suspension and Cobra brakes.
