Ah the GTPodcast, I just (finally) got to this part of the broadcast and sort of forgot there was a race going on and got lost in the audio.

EDIT:
Re: Ajh_1990's post:
As the team's "veteran" (with 3 whole races under my belt), I was the leading source of pessimism surrounding our prospects, having seen how fast these drivers were and how my own races had played out.
Good thing you proved me wrong!

Not 100% sure what it takes to be a Gold driver but I feel like I've ticked all the boxes. Anyone have an idea on what I need to do?

Just keep staying Fast, Consistent and Clean and you'll get there. I'm certainly not the fastest, but i'm consistent and generally clean and I achieved Gold with the help of great teammates; So there's hope for everyone.

As for those seeking Platinum...ummm...AJ needs a blood sample to prove you are not human, that is the only requirement FYI.

Yeah consistency is normally my thing. I reckon I've had gold worthy races but I guess you need to have lots of them before you're considered...

i was bronze for a good 5 - 6 races so it just takes time

and hope that none of the stewards are looking when we do something stupid on track :sly:

EDIT: removed inappropriate passive aggressive comment regarding a racing incident I was involved in :dunce::dunce::dunce: (you are correct Nail-27, my bad)

and be sure not to publically post stuff like the above, keep it in the private team threads. :D

like when i gave a Black Beemer a little love tap yesterday around lap 60 approaching Dunlop. oops :dunce:

and I'd apologize to them, but they rammed me so hard before we even got to the start/finish line at the race start that my entire car flashed red! so....

lol i don't see how my remark would impede his progress through the ranks

What's the difference between "Local" and "Network" teams?
Local teams are players who meet in one place to compete with one ps3 and the needed hardware for each player.

Network teams are players who play their part of the race from separate places.

For example, Russian Roulette Racing is a Network team, their members live in Australia, the United Kindgom, Mexico and the US, so they can't meet in one place to compete, so we coordinate and take turns to drive our car from our homes.

To put it simply: Local teams use 1 PS System for all their drivers, while Network teams use multiple systems.

Thanks for the answers. I would almost be certain on a "network" team since I don't find any other drivers locally who are pretty interested participating in the GTP Endurance Series at the moment (although, to be honest, I haven't been playing GT6 recently because of pCARS and school, and even if I do play GT6, I don't have any interest in participating in any official GTP online racing series anytime soon)...

Congratulations to @MINT_GTR.

2015 GTPlanet Silverstone 12 Hour GT Cup champion. And now, 2015 NISMO GT Academy International Champion.

So is he going to do any more races with us? Or is he gone forever, lost in the real world of motorsports? It would be fun to beat a professional. :)

He's a blast to race against. He's pushed me far beyond than what I that was possible in me which really changed how I drive each and every race I've done since.

You don't get faster from being faster. :) you get faster from being slower than someone else. :)

I think that's a complement . At the time I raced him I was not as good as I am now, so racing him was like going to the next level.

It wasn't a compliment lol, it was the observation that its easier to improve when we are losing. :) Unless you're frustrated, then everything is more difficult.

Having known him for over a year now through the RaceOnOZ leagues (his first ever race was a 3rd place at Silverstone, eerily enough), I knew his never say die attitude would take him all the way to the end. I recall one time when we both spent a solid 6 hours straight testing for the Bathurst 12hr in the GHH GT-R, only to realise we needed to start again on another tune as we forgot the wear rules were changed for qualifying! Another long haul was needed, but he never gave up trying to find the optimum setup.

Considering only a few months ago it looked like he wouldn't even be able to participate, to overcome the struggles and adversity he faced to make it to race camp and win the whole shebang is just unbelievable. He certainly is an inspiration for someone like me who dreams of winning it too someday. And hey, there's nothing wrong with being able to say,
"my mate is a GT3 driver for Nissan..."

His story is a lot different from mine. I'm glad I lost because my performance in the National finals would've been embarrassingly poor. :)

Ahem.... Seeking expressions of interest for position of head alien for GHH :D

Not very big shoes to fill at all!

I'm sure matt will return to race with us and we'll have him any day but I'm thinking he's going to be busy for a while

Well done Matt, you've done us all proud :)

That was a bit of a mess in June where half of GTPES was lost to GTAcademy, either in trying to secure that final spot for nationals or actually going to nationals. Lol. :)

Looking over the thread recently, I've noticed a bit of talk about driver ratings... My opinion on them, is that they don't really matter all that much, or for what I do at least. (only race a couple times a season) I've raced with the best of the best, beaten numerous guys that go to GTAcademy, and am still a bronze rated driver. I think more people should spend less time worrying what rating they have, and focus on driving the friggen car come race day... All the rating system really is, is a sort of ego booster or something to put on your virtual racing résumé

But that's just a young Canadian 'hoser's $0.02 ;)

They're probably worried about those silly race limits. I think @AJ should consider an alternative to the current rule. Possibly a "you can race for the team but will only be scored for X races"

Its based on a real world scoring system with the emphasis of this whole series leaning towards realism - Drivers IRL who also don't race that often are similarly rated lower than what perhaps their actual race ability is... Pretty sure every racer that takes part worries more about racing the car come race day than their driver rating... During the last race at Fugi there was a guy who went from rookie to platinum in one race so its not necessarily about how many races you race and as more races occur AJ ends up with more comparable data.

OK, I've been waiting on @AJ, since Monday, to give me word on why I have been removed from the community club on GT6, and given he's been online and posting here, just seems a little rude that I've not had a response to the simple question of why.

I was lined up to race for Swift Autosport this weekend, but that seems shot to smithereens now, in addition to any future participation by the looks of it.

Being a Platinum driver myself, I can honestly say rating means nothing to me. Don't get me wrong, it's nice being regarded as one of the 'aliens' of the series, and some people thinking "Oh God, here comes 'driver-x', we have no chance to catch them now". But if anything, its also kind of annoying. Being Platinum basically means you are expected to be faster than anyone rated Gold or below, and if you aren't, questions about your performance start getting asked, you also ask yourself those questions. This added pressure, can and does cause mistakes, which if there were no ranks, wouldn't have happened. Throughout all the ranks in the GTP:ES there are incredibly fast drivers, and I don't think there is a single team out there who isn't capable of winning races. But this isn't just about who is the fastest driver, it's about who is consistently fast, who makes the least mistakes, but most importantly, who is the fastest team. At the end of the day, it all boils down to luck really: Do you get a fast driver change, do you get caught out in changeable weather, do you have a miss-communication with a car from a different class. Or even something technical like loosing a single stint picture. It could even be does the car suit the circuit. There are so many variables in the mix, that no matter what driver rank you are, you aren't guaranteed a win.

As for event limits, while it might be annoying to some, it does give some of the slower drivers more of a chance to race and ultimately improve themselves. This is after all a large community, and not everyone can race every event. It shouldn't be all about the fastest drivers, it should be something that drivers of all skill levels can take part in and enjoy. 12 events is a full season in 2 different classes, I think that is a fair amount for any driver. It does however give more emphasis on which franchise your teams wants to take at the start of the season, for example, this season, I didn't race at Le Mans (which I would have liked to have been in), but I get to race at Nurb and Spa 24Hr. Of course I could have joined another team to participate at Le Mans, but then I might not have been able to attend all the races in my class, (turns out I could have as I have 1 spare event as I missed one at the start of the season) but you get my point.

Anyway, that's my opinion. I think the current system works great, and @AJ along with the rest of the organisers/comms team and anyone else who has helped develop this series should be very proud of what they have achieved over the last year or so.

I held a test room for Fuji last week, and we came up with the idea of GTPlanet Rally Series. :P Who would like to see rally join GTPlanets leading racing series? @Sinyster

Provisional rules idea:

Cars:
The cars are limited to roadcars, 300 hp, and 1250kg. You are not allowed to change your model or color after participating in an event.

Qualifying rounds:
It begins with a 15 or 30 minute QP session for 12 drivers.
The main races will be 2 to 5 laps in length depending on the length of the track
Heavy Damage is on, so try to be clean
Race 1 will feature the qualifiers: 1st,3rd,5th,7th,9th, and 11th
Race 2 will feature the qualifiers: 2nd,4th,6th,8th,10th, and 12th
The top three drivers from each race will move on to the final rounds

Final Rounds:
The remaining 6 will compete in a race similar to qualifying races 1 and 2, except in reverse.
2 drivers will move on to a head to head race on the reverse circuit for the gold trophy. :)

I would like to see a touring car series too
