I hope G27 support comes with GT7... if it doesn't, I will not be happy. Especially if I don't find out until GT Academy starts. PD better warn us in advance if GT Academy 2016 will not support it. Because many of us are going to need a new wheel.
The G27 isn't compatible with the PS4.

The G29 is, and PD loves to support "legacy" software/hardware. I'm sure Sony might make an exception for them. GT is one of the most profitable games on PlayStation.

It is impossible for the G27 to work on a PS4. It was never programmed for it.

Its a simple update to the PS4s OS. The G29 uses thr same hardware, it's not that hard to port over an old file from the PS3.

@AJ if we leave GT6 and the PS3 it would be on to GT7 on the PS4. Right? Its the only logical change.

From the response so far I would take it that most would have to upgrade console - console + wheel. I was always waiting for GT7 to come out for before I went and bought a PS4 - as I play only GT6, and I only play it with my fellow Reapers :).

I figured that this would be the most cost effective and enable me to have the most choice - when eventually GT7 emerges. I wanted to know if I was in a minority and whether I should purchase earlier than expected 👍

Note, the PS3 will be entering its 10th year in 2016 and the G27 its 6th.

If you have to buy new hardware next year then you have done pretty well in terms of a tech upgrade cycle.

Fanatec = $1,399
T300 & G29 = $399
T80 = $99

Console = $449

BEST = $1,848 ($308pa)
BETTER = $848 ($141pa)
GOOD = $549 ($92pa)

Based on a 6 year cycle, sim racing is a very reasonably priced hobby.

Should we not also add the console...and the game of course.

This point I'm not debating it just that I might be having to purchase it earlier than expecting. Truthfully I was expecting next season to run its course as it is - as how can you know how GT7 will operate compared to GT6 and how will Nerds be compatible - which leads me to think that you have some other game in mind. I also think that many of the drivers already registered would love to continue taking part - and I agree keeping details secret adds intrigue to an already intesting and great series, but not everyone's circumstances are the same. I for one am a father to a disabled child and therefore due to his care needs I am not able to work so although I agree of your assessment of cost I would have to say that 30 days to acquire new hardware and peripherals is more than likely going to be a goal which is unachievable.

I would love to know as much in advance as possible so I can make a practical and informed choice 👍

"...for most of us here."

I think that's pretty obvious to most people on GTPlanet that Gran Turismo is "most" members 1st choice. Certainly not all and there are other great sims out there, but those here are primarily here because of Gran Turismo. Now, that could change over time and the other guys tend to be louder from time to time to promote their other sims, but the Gran Turismo franchise still dominates this forum for "most" of us.

that was all i meant by the 'duh', nothing more. Cheers :cheers:

The 30 day deadline is for the final decision as to which platform the event in question will be run on. The situation and the direction we will be going will be crystal clear well before that. However, I do believe the costs listed above are reasonable and should be reasonably expected by a sim racer in 2016, year 3 of the current console generation. I can't say more for now, but needed to add that disclaimer to the announcement.

I'm am torn here. In my opinion I am all about GT7 on PS4 come mid season. Saying that I would want confirmation my wheel setup will work with it first. I do not have enough spare funds currently (which could change by the time GT7 I'd out) and if I had to choose right here and right now I would veto GT7.

We are all different ages and in different parts of our lives. Some of us go to school full time and even an entry level setup is unobtainium currently. Others of us are just doing entry level parts of our careers and entry level is a stretch to get but obtainable. You get the idea of where I am going.

I can go either side of the fence here, if GT7 supports my setup I am game, if it doesn't then it depends on where all my finances are at the time. I will not settle for a mid end setup I have been wanting to upgrade to a higher level of performance but just have not been able to pull the trigger on it. As for everyone else we should see where everyone is at when it is announced that GT7 will be released. This will give a better overall picture on when everyone stands at that point in life.

I'm set to possibly step up platforms next year, preordered a Star Wars PS4. Depending on funds like everyone else if there's a change over is that I won't be able to use my G27 anymore so could be on controller until my G29 upgrade. But still very much looking forward to the first half of the 2016 season, cannot wait!!

Yeah, switching platforms and games midway through the season is something that I will not advocate for. I am just trying to get my feet planted in the world and with extremely limited income from my father, even $550 is a stretch for my family and I. That is why I do not have a racing wheel for PS3. Getting a job for me is something I plan on doing in the very near future (hopefully) but even that has complications which I would rather not elaborate on in public.

If we could at least wait until the end of the 2016 season it'd give everyone a more reasonable and realistic amount of time to acquire funds to upgrade to the latest hardware. A lot of us here aren't hardcore sim-racers to my knowledge, and I'm sure there are many of us, like myself, who simply for whatever the reason may be cannot afford to continue racing in the series if a mid-season switch were to happen. Keeping it on GT6 would also eliminate the possibility of new-game bugs to hinder the racing experience on a new system and edition of Gran Turismo.

I am one of the original advocates to a midseason change. I do see the negatives though. I don't expect it to come until after the big 3 anyways. I would like it to stay GT, please don't switch to project cars or AC or anything else.

I was looking at the calendar, and there's one race missing that I think should be there. @AJ the IMSA Rolex series does a GTLM vs GTD. Which is essentially the same as GTE Pro vs GTE Am. I think it would be a lot of fun. :)

I really like the driver rating per class rule. :)

Edit: 24h LM might be during qualifying week and 24h Spa might be during national finals in the US. Might be a problem. :)

Re-edit: am I the only one here that thinks the current GTE scheduling needs to be redone they never even share the track.

I'm one of the fortunate ones in a position to change mid season, but i have many concerns about how that would look for the series.... looks a little concering if the entire layout/platform of the game changes.... just my personal opinion, but i think it should stay on GT6 and PS3 for the duration of next season. Changing midseason and having to re-do the bop of cars, change potentially track lineups, car lineups if they arn't in GT7 etc etc. Just my 2 cents

Hello everyone, as the 2015 season slowly comes to an end and the 2016 season looms around the corner. I'd like to announce a brand new franchise called:

We shall be attempting to race in the GTE Pro and GT3 Pro Categories and we are currently looking for drivers to join us. If interested, contact me and we can figure something out.

Thanks. - DZ

I would like to give you guys an update on my progress on my 2 pending N24 videos. Everything has been downloaded, and during the race I made a catalog of the parts I wanted. :) should be uploaded sometime tomorrow, and I am taking no prisoners! :lol: Mistakes will be shown! :lol: I'm even going to GIF one of you for your epic copycat spin skills. :) hint: You are a heathen. :) I even have some humorous commentary on file! :D

GTLM = GTE (Pro)
GTD = GT3 (Pro/Am)

GTLM = GTE (Pro)
GTD = GT3 (Pro/Am)
But there isn't a GTE vs GT3. like ummm... wait... searching the event. But not having GTE Pro and GTE Am share the track at all, for the whole season, is not good. They need to get together fairly often like they do in real life, not this separate thing. It would have smaller class grids, but they are the same performance of cars. Just with faster drivers.

They had 1 races that were GTs only in 2014, it was 2 hours and 45 minutes in length and held at Virginia international speedway.

YOU HEARD IT FROM ME FIRST. HYUNDAI VGT MAYBE? GRAN TURISMO RETWEETED IT. #HYPETRAIN

I am in a loom thinking about hosting my team in the GTPES 2016.
I'm looking for some interest from drivers in the Bronze - Silver level band. I am willing to think about new drivers entering so complete rookies however they will be tested for ability organised by myself.
