Turn your ghost off, take your map off and then look away from screen when you go through a timing line ..

I think the understeer is quite manageable for a heavy 4x4 .. running 2'07.509 at the moment.. Lots of time left, mainly in t2..

That's normal dude. Its what keeps me coming back. Knowing I can go faster. Getting rid of map actually works. Once you get used to it not being there. Lol

i cant beat 2:11, I can get all the turns perfect, just not in the same lap lol. The car acts funny too, I went to play a bit online last night, and was braking like..I had never driven before haha. and those restarts on the first corner before you even begin xD

I recommend watching some of the faster replays and picking up tips from that. I was stuck in the mid 2:10's, then after watching some replays was able to cut it down to 2:09.4. I felt like I was doing everything right but there is even still a lot of room to make up. It really is a fine line to dance with this thing because as soon as you are slightly off track it pushes like a pig.

some of those corners though idk how they do that line at that gear, when I tried it propelled me straight off the track lol, day 2 of trying though.... and somehow I managed this as well....

2:07.485 after a few laps. Might try later to shave a few tenths. Quite a few places where I can improve, mostly in the final sector.

Good luck guys!

I'm really NOT tidgney, but maybe it helps somebody out!

BTW: So happy at the end, having beaten @GTP_CargoRatt ! Keep the challenge up, my friend!

I love the yes at the end, Whenever I try at those rpms I understeer horribly, hmmm I might have to record a vid with my phone. maybe get some insight on what I'm doing wrong lol. nice lap though!

Well after work tonight I had a couple of goes and managed to get into the 2:05's! A tad rusty as I haven't played in quite awhile and rather tired (2 night's of 6 hours sleep).

Here's the video of the lap (I messed up quite bad at the loop!) but may be of help :)! Guide will come later this week for those that want to improve on round 1! If there's anything specific you want me to focus on do let me know!

Useful as always. I may just be overdriving the car on entry and losing front grip. These are the times I wish I can crank up the feedback for more accuracy.

Gave it a shot last night. Holy hell does this thing understeer! Combined with my lack of experience at Silverstone, I got bronze on my first couple laps, which was nice and embarrassing. Even golding this is going to be a serious challenge for me. But maybe I'll learn something in the process.

I downloaded the replay of one of the top 10. God, it looked like (s)he was driving a different car! Then I ran it through the data logger to compare to my best lap at the time and felt even worse about my driving.

Still, it might've helped me to look at that replay since my next lap time was nearly 2 seconds better. (I can't even remember if I got silver or not.) But, hey, it's always great to know that, after some serious improvement, I've gone from 36,000th place to 26,000th place. :dunce:

Haha I'm also wondering how you did that without hitting the cones, because I always ride that curb but nothing happens... the fastest way to take that corner before the start is to just floor it all the way. I think I found something to make it a lot easier (also I think faster) is when you're mid-turn when the white/red painted curb is on your left, try to get the left tyres on them. This will cause the car to slide slightly to the right, enabling you to go through that turn flat out with a great line. I rarely miss up that turn because of that!

Anyway, I managed to do 2:6.537 earlier! Which is currently ranked somewhere in the 200s I believe. I was seriously shocked... I didn't know I could get it to go that fast. I believe I can still go faster than that, so I'll keep trying. I only wish UAE was included this year :(.

I got a mid 2:10 after about an hour of trying , mainly because I would hit the cones or run of track at turn 1 or Copse. If I completed a lap (except the last one), I made the mistake of running the outside line of Stowe, which caused massive understeer.

Haven't played in a long time, got a 2:08.8 after about 20 laps. I've been playing other sims racers, Assetto Corsa and Iracing. While I got my love of racing with GT1 way way back when I was a kid and have hundreds of hours on each of the GT's that have come out since. I hate to say it but coming back has been an exercise in frustration. This GTR they have on here handles like my Honda Oddessy and no where near the real thing. Yes I've driven one before in real life at a track. Yes there is under steer with the GTR, but no where no as much as here in the game. The understeer it does have in real life is a heck of a lot more manageable and can most of the time be adjusted by getting on the throttle. When you try to do that here the front pushes so much it's like you have a few sands bags in the trunk. I know GT6 isn't suppose to be real life or even a Sim so I have to keep that in mind. Plus the PS3 is old hardware. I can't wait for GT7 as I'm hoping it's leaps and bounds ahead of this.

I have gotten 2:11:312 now though. so I'm getting there surely but slowly.... This happened though when I got 2:11:312

I didn't use the ebrake, it just.... kind of happened, but now I'm going to try to do this because it boosted me way ahead of the ghost I was using for a brief period :/ hmmm, It happened on the abbey section, but the problem areas I have are , brooklands corner, and becketts corner, and the loop lol.

Haha wow, not even sure how that would happen without using an ebrake . I might have to try it for fun.

Turn the tcs off, and on that first corner, get your back tires onto the rumble strip, it'll throw the back way out, and just hold onto the gas lol it'll straighten itself out, it's a trick I use in nurb all the time ^^

Chances are PD aren't trying to replicate the car exactly, but created a car with behavior characteristics that force the driver to use very specific techniques to achieve a quick lap time. Managing the understeer is probably the most crucial part of this first round.

I'm actually really glad you said that. It makes all the sense in the world to be honest. I was really, REALLY frustrated there for a little while, but this completely puts it in perspective. You aren't my wife are you lol? I get so mad at some things in RL and she'll come a long and say the simplest thing which causes me to look at it from a perspective i never thought of, then I'm not mad anymore.

Oh well, thanks for that. 👍
