I never noticed that. Why does North America get a different grille?
I'd like to know as well. If I ever owned one the first mod I'd do is to swap out the grille.I never noticed that. Why does North America get a different grille?
Really? I've never noticed that with previous gens.We always have. For some reason.

Sounds like for the time being, the EJ257 is not confirmed to be retired (yet). It sure is a sign that the end is near, though:Well, it was a foregone conclusion (probably), but this likely marks the end of the EJ engine, forever.
"WRX STI models with EJ20 engines are currently sold in Japan only. STI models sold in overseas markets are powered by different types of engines and production of those engines will continue," Subaru said in its announcement.
Yeah, it certainly seems like the beginning of the end. I'd imagine the EJ257 to follow suit very shortly. I'll be dammed if the next generation STI keeps the EJ engine outside Japan, while the JDM model gets the new engine. I look forward to see the new STI engine though, which is presumably based on the FA platform.Sounds like for the time being, the EJ257 is not confirmed to be retired (yet). I actually would not be surprised if Subaru homogenizes the engines between the markets. If I am not mistaken, the export markets got a larger displacement engine primarily because of emission problems. If they were to make a new engine for the STI, I assume they would keep in mind the regulations of all markets, particularly since the original STI was not destined to be sold outside Japan while the new one probably will be.Like @1241Penguin, I presume the next JDM STI will receive a variant of the FA20. As for the next exported STI, a variant of the FA24 with at least 300hp seems more likely, yes.
