Well, I'll leave myself with a final time of 3:25.380. I have to say there is a love/hate with this combo. I honestly thought I couldn't get close to that time. I had many laps two tenths above going onto Mulsanne of that lap but couldn't make it happen in the end for a quicker result.

Best of luck to you guys in the closing hours! Hopefully I will get to attend this year's finals and see some of you again as well as some new faces. Cheers!

So far today ive gotten a 26.533, 2 26.6s, 26.765, and a 26.8 ... (-_-) good laps, but not gppd enough.

Yea I'm with you on that, although I haven't gone as fast as you. I keep getting 26.7s and a 26.5 (which didn't count). I can tell I'm capable of a high 25 or low 26 but I just can't get a full lap together without losing .4 in Indianapolis, and that's only when I manage to get a good lap going.

Update just got a 3:26.785 ... grr

I know it's late in the game but try staying in 3rd for the left and exit out of Arnage in 2nd. I just watched Nick's (Gumball) lap and that's what he did.

How does that help? I tried 2nd gear in all of the chicanes and I lose more than I gain when Im not in the standard gearing.

You'll need a more deliberate touch on the gas. Even if you go only 75% or so through mid-corner, you'll carry more overall speed than if you're using 1st. That and you don't have to fiddle with the upshift and you'll have less wheelspin to deal with. Again, I know there's little time left but you may need to chuck some Hail Mary's and hope something sticks.

Thanks for that bit of advice. I'm not intending on going to the finals but I just want to prove to myself that I can hang with people in the top 20. I think I was 38th the last time I checked so i'm not too far off and my times aren't to0 far off of the top 25 either.

Hail mary = cones... ill continue my current way. I see a 26.0 lurking.

So that makes me the 8th? reserve driver... That's not very comforting...

You never know, don't forget to check the email attached to your psn daily.

I was 43rd in U.S. ranking last year
Ill check it. :) that's 15 positions out. I am only 12 out.

Calculator time...
you were at 153.7% of the cut off...
I am at 160% of the cut off... which is like being in 45th... Were you the last one?

I don't remember who it was, but the last guy who made it to nationals was ranked 50th

K so 2013 and 2014 the cut off spot went kinda far down the list around 45/50 that was back in 2013/2014

I have recived replys back from every driver in the top25 saying they will attend national except one driver!!

And with the few drivers in top 20 who don't count that means the cut off will go to around 23/25
It will not go past 25th mark my words! I know in past years it has gone way down past 45 but not this year.

Never say never. Things can change for people between now and Finals. Grant you, the odds are lower since we're dealing with 20 people rather than 32. Anyone 21-30 should make themselves ready just in case.

Going from 1st in the US last year to 17th was no major surprise but what was is my Driving Force Pro making it all the way. While it still works, this will be the last time I'll use it for Academy. A T300 or G29 will take its place; either will be an improvement.

I used to have one of those until I started turning the wheel and the center alignment would change mid corner and then I'd be driving straight with the wheel cranked 70 degrees to either side

Yeah, I made the top 20, but I cannot go to finals. So that means the 21st guy will be pushed up to 20th.

I know never to say never but this year is different from any other gt academy in the past

I have conformations from all the drivers who's made the cut off saying they will attend nationals

Sure people can drop out last second but the odds of that happing are slim to none.

We'll see who goes and backs at when we arrive at natonals

My guess is cut off spot goes to 25th Max it's currently going to 24th as we speak

So I just have to hope that 230 people say no to going to the academy...or they host some event where top 250 come and compete for a spot or something! I won't be holding my breath though ;)

But honestly, this was my first year trying out, and for the lack of time I have spent with the game and playing racing sims (I think I got a ps3 and Gt6 in february) I think I did pretty good. Being ranked top 250 first go around is good. I learned a lot about myself in the process. When I thought I had hit a wall, I would spend a couple hours playing and watching others laps and eventually bust out a lap a second faster. I pushed myself further than I ever thought. I initially set a goal to be inside the top 1000, but as I busted through that I tried to get into the top 500, then top 300 etc.

It was a great experience, and congratulations to everyone headed to finals! To everyone else:

Training for next year starts now. This is Day 1 of my plan to be GT Academy 2016 Champion. I'm gonna come out swinging next year, and I hope to see you guys there too!
