If Canada is excluded, you can probably once again thank your government and their laws on winning prizes. I would bet Sony had to pull some strings last year and felt like avoiding the issue this year.

I asked around, hopefully will have an answer for you guys soon. I really wanna keep this thread title the same!!!

Edit:
Well, that was fast. I just got direct confirmation, Canada is out this year. Sorry everyone :(

It's a no go for them let's just say this might even be the last gt academy as we know it

I thought I read in a news item from here not long ago that they have plans to at least go through 2016.

Well that sucks. :( I feel really bad for all my Canadian friends that have been looking forward to this and have put a ton of work into their preparation. This has got to be the worst Academy yet with all the changes and such. Thanks @Wardez for the conformation.

Sorry about the double post. :dunce:

Im from Brampton! And no way haha! Its a cool series, gonna try and get sponsered for Rotax...but it would have been nice to attempt GT Academy...id rather fail than not even have a chance

Yeah I've done some karting before (hence my name lol).. didn't get to rotax, but I raced 2 strokes before
I'm from Mississauga! I know exactly what you mean.. putting in all those hours, just so you don't even get a chance to try, is a solid blow to the scrotum.

I would certainly hope it's a case where circumstances prevented a workable arrangement like last year. Otherwise, it sends the worst possible message to everyone that has put in the hard work and sacrifice that it wasn't worth the effort to give Canadians a chance to show what they can do.

To be honest all we have on here is speculation, with the Canadian laws being the main reason they couldn't compete in the past. Unless we can get a full explanation from Sony as to why (I'm sure it's the same reason) most of the Canadians on here that are upset should start looking into the specifics of their laws and not blame Sony as I am sure they tried their best to keep them in.

So far, I don't think anyone has blamed Sony.. that I've seen. I think most are upset (myself included), of that fact that. We won't either get a try in the first place, or get a chance at another try.

If it is due to our laws, which I wouldn't be surprised, here's another way our government is the best in the worldd!!!! (Obvious sarcasm).

If you think they're that bad, how about trading your Parliament for our Congress? :sly:

I want to say the best option is find a way to move into a qualifying country and wait until next year but with your luck, this will be the last Academy.

but with your luck, this will be the last Academy.

Well, there is the story about Brazil debuting I 2016 so I'd assume that means GTA will continue. But considering how things are changing, you never know what counties will be included or excluded next.

To be honest man, I don't know which is better.. our government / senate is horrible.. my provinces government is horribly corrupt, the conservatives will slowly waste Canada away. I'll stop there cause this isn't a political forum Haha! At the end of the day, what government isnt full of garbage.

I'm considering all options now.. but that luck statement you made could not be more accurate to my life.. lol, but not lol

I was a factory trained dealership mechanic years ago as well. People have no idea how screwed up MANY of the cars are when they come off the truck. Seeing what I saw is why I will NEVER buy a brand new car. Ever.

That is for sure. Lol. I hate warranty flat rate. They have us doing timing chains on Juke for three hours. Can only be done if an apprentice cleans the cover. Always lose on those. Got to pay the bills though.
