I acctually work for Nissan too I fix there crap all the time. Right down to the dealership level they make questionable decisions all the time. Guess I am not surprised. If it's not ass backwards it's not Nissan.
Barking up the wrong tree.
I was a factory trained dealership mechanic years ago as well. People have no idea how screwed up MANY of the cars are when they come off the truck. Seeing what I saw is why I will NEVER buy a brand new car. Ever.
As someone who works deep within Nissan and has been to assembly plants to check production cars, they are getting a lot better on initial quality right off the assembly line.

Not what I see. New pathfinders have tranny issues right out the gate. Heaven forbid you own a murano. Even the new one has the same leaking t case. Guess I just see all the bad stuff in the shop. Older gen nissans are strong though.

Eh, Jatco stuff is another story. The sooner we get rid of them the better.

All I saw on the press release was "midnight". Hopefully that's not PST.

Looks like you may be right. My apologies for my misleading post. I'm not staying awake till 3 in the morning so looks like I'll start this tomorrow.

This will be the first year in which I'm old enough to actually compete so I will be taking it seriously, not that I have a chance in hell though

Quick question!
Now that USA is in GTA international does this mean that past US finalist (who have been to Silverstone) are eligible for the new International?

Probably not. Although I haven't seen the official rules yet.

I've seen a few posts in this thread blame "Canadian laws" for their exclusion from GT Academy. Could someone explain to me just what those laws are? It seems quite foolish that an entire country can't enter a contest like this...

I believe it has to do with their Competition Act:

Also found this which explains the problem with Quebec:

While I'm not a lawyer, I have to presume there's a lot more hoops involved just to bring Canada into the fold considering it's a multi-national competition and a major on-line component. Ideally, Canada could amend the law but something tells me they won't go out of the way to appease a few people.

That doesn't explain how we got in last year and not this year unless there was some change to the legislation.

You've got me. Law usually doesn't change that quickly. In some cases, it's a matter of different interpretation (what looked okay last year is no longer so). There's also the unfortunately possibility that Canada simply got left out this year due to the Academy re-alignment and economics. Last year may have just been testing the waters.

Is there a way to view time by region? We are guaranteed 20 spots. I counted that I was a tentative to 16th. But I dont want to count. Lol

  • not have competed at a GT Academy Territory Finals (or equivalent or similar stages in any jurisdiction) in the 2013 and/or 2014 GT Academy competition; and
  • (k)not have competed at the GT Academy Race Camp stage (or equivalent or similar stages) in any previous GT Academy competition.

Tidgney posted the above extract from this year's rules. More unexpected disappointment for some I expect.

Doesn't apply to GT Academy International. Previous US national finalists are still eligible.

Question, if I get my American Citizenship. Will I then be eligible, or do I have to go and actually move over to America.
