EFL to use goal-line technology in this seasons Championship play-off semis, doesn't say anything about the final though..

PFA Player Of The Year.

Eden Hazard
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Harry Kane
N'Golo Kante
Romulu Lukaku
Alexis Sanchez

PFA Young Player Of The Year.

Dele Alli
Harry Kane
Michael Keane
Romulu Lukaku
Jordan Pickford
Leroy Sane

I think the main award will go to either Hazard or Kante, Alli should win young player again, four out of six nominee's up for young player are English.

Here's the games for this Easter weekend.

Famine has set up a promotion/relegation thread, but I thought i would give Brighton a shout-out, they can get promoted to the PL today, they play Wolves at 5.30pm, Newcastle play Leeds in a big game later tonight.

POTY should be Ibrahimovic. Chelsea would still be winning the title (they were the form team of 2016 once Mourinho had been ousted) without Hazard or Kante, Spurs do fine without Kane and Arsenal suck no matter what. But without Ibrahimovic, Manchester United would be in the bottom half, out of the Europa League and trophyless. Only Lukaku at Everton has anything like the same impact on his team.

Y'know Ibrahimovic has missed a lot of chances too, 17 in the Premier League, more than anyone else, but without him we would struggle to finish in the top half.

Spurs 4-0 Bournemouth, typically dominant performance by Spurs, puts pressure on Chelsea ahead of their big game away to United tomorrow.

Arsenal are 1 place behind United and Sanchez has been far better than Zlatan has been.

Should be Kante imo, Dele young player.

I think Sanchez has been better too, but Zlatan fixes United's problems. They struggle to score most of the time, without him they always do. Arsenal don't really have that problem, they just concede for fun, nothing changes there with or without Alexis.

If you think the football is terrible in Scotland, check the standard of the refereeing.

Liverpool narrowly beat West Brom 0-1.

United rest Ibrahimovic who is on the bench (Mourinho says he is tired), no Courtois for Chelsea with an ankle injury so Begovic comes in, Alonso pulled up in the warm up too..

United beat Chelsea 2-0, in a very good game.

Haven't seen United play anything close to this performance in quite a while. :D

Best performance of the season, simply brilliant, great tactics from Jose, Herrera was superb, so happy! :D

Was a penalty awarded for that?

Poor Conte/Chelsea. They spent all week training how to neutralise the formidable and scoring for fun Ibra and Jose opts for speed instead. 8 minutes later and Rashfords in behind.

In my opinion Rashford earnt that start after playing against Chelsea in the cup.

Yep! :dunce:

Perhaps you didn't read my post correctly? At what point did I talk about players diving? I was commenting about the standard of refereeing, which has been caught out multiple times this year - including in Celtic's favour last month against St.Johnstone and a penalty that wasn't given against Rangers in the final seconds of the match.

Let's not forget this either:

...Which didn't even merit a foul.

It's the referee's job to govern the match - surely they should be able to do that.

Indeed - and if any of those players escaped a yellow card for simulation it makes your point for you... doesn't it?

Booking for simulation isn't as clear cut as it should be (unfortunately) regardless of the standard of refereeing.

If we're saying 'should diving be a booking'? Definitely, but when watching any major football tournament I still feel the cheater can get away with more than someone trying to play the game fairly.

What we have here is total refereeing incompetence, I can only hope it gets better soon though I won't hold my breath.

This is a league where this type of thing is okay, after all.

In the laws of the game it is a booking.

"Circumstances when a player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour: Attempts to deceive the referee by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation)"

"A Simulation (attempts to deceive the referee by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled) - yellow card"

So if the referees are not handing out cautions for the simulations, they are not meeting the standards - again, making your point for you.

I didn't explicitly say that it wasn't in the rules, I meant when it comes to what happens on the field it's often ignored a lot more than it should be, it should be more clearcut in the event of clear simulation - a booking should be given but we know in actual football matches it doesn't really happen like that.

Cheaters generally prosper in football - or get away with one at least.

But it should. If it doesn't, the referees aren't meeting the standards. And your point was that the Scottish league referees are not meeting the standards. Scottish league players not being booked for simulation is straight up evidence of Scottish league referees not meeting the standards, isn't it?

Definitely, cheaters should be punished as harshly as any other wrong aspect of the game. 👍

Eventually the player gets a reputation for it and gets sent off even when actually fouled - step (or rather theatrically fall) forward Fernando Forestieri, who a second yellow for diving, then got two yellows in a game for diving and handball, then sent off the next game when actually fouled - all in the space of two months.
