That's most series though. Of it's something like F1, that's just throwing money away. BTCC, TCR, PWC, passenger car/GT car series, etc. we see why Nissan jumped in. Volvo for the same reason. @Pete05 I agree, those decisions were based on the local market.

Hyundai could sell i20s by doing an 86 type one Make series. Why WRC? I don't think WRC would help the N brand more than a touring car series. Hyundai are already selling well. They are also going upscale with the Genesis(G80, etc). BTCC, VASC, PWC are series that could get that N brand, into the minds of people that would go to the dealership and buy one.

@LMSCorvetteGT2 I agree. I don't buy that either. Hyundai even thought about joint V8s during COTF.

Because it's a global series using cars that are popular within the manufacturers' line-up. The characteristics of each individual event vary wildly, and the cars need to be much more diverse and flexible in terms of handling than touring cars to get speed out of them. As a showcase for manufacturers, it's one of the best motorsport series out there.

I'm currently at rally Australia and I've been told by a few people that Hyundai spend $40mill a year on their rally budget. So that's probably one reason they aren't interested.

Yeah, they bungled it a bit. They originally used the three-door version of the i20, but ran into problems in development. So they had to build a five-door i20 WRC for this year, and they will go back to the three-door for 2017. I'm not really sure what went wrong, but I suspect that they were moving things around inside the three-door in preparation for 2017 and found it wasn't manageable. So they built the five-door and used it to solve the problems they were having for the 2017 car.

Jason Bright poised to make a return to Prodrive in 2017.

I get he owns his own REC and everything, but there comes a time where you should step aside for the younger guys, and unfortunately for Bright, he's hit that point in his career. Hopefully he is just taking the REC to Prodrive and will stay on as only a co-driver...
What I want to know from reading that article is, just where exactly Prodrive co-owner, Rusty French, is going to place the former SBR REC?

Honestly, that got my head all twisted. I can't think of another team that would want it, or another place he could put it. Maybe at BJR, but do they really need it? So unless PRA upscales to 5 cars, I can't see it it being used at all next year.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken, no team can run more than 4 cars so PRA have all their bases loaded & that ain't an option.
There's more people that are interested in a REC than there are RECs so, Rusty is in the box seat there. I'm betting his phone is/will be ringing off the hook.

You know, I wouldn't be disappointed if "Inside Supercars" was cancelled for 2017. I know we all like to rag on James Phelps for believing every rumour he hears, but Greg Rust is arguably the worse journalist. I mean, when was the last time that he asked an actual question? All he does is make a long-winded statement, then phrase it so that the person being interviewed can only agree or disagree and then rephrase it. Like when he "asked" Lee Holdsworth whether it was a big relief to come back from his injury.

To be honest I have to question Riana as well. I cant remember exact details, I just remember one of the drivers had a big crash in to a concrete wall somewhere....She was interviewing the driver after the crash, she said... That was a big crash into the wall...What was that like ? WTF kind of question is that ?? How do you answer that question...Yeah yeah it was great, I love crashing in to concrete walls

I never get time to watch Inside Supercars so wouldn't make a difference to me, but I also tune out now whenever Riana is getting airtime.

I feel if she hadn't been one of the Miss V8 supercar girls or was married to a current driver she wouldn't be a track side reporter.

Yep, you're 100% right.

Got to wonder how this Bright signing affects Le Brocq. There was talk earlier in the year that PRA were looking at bringing him up to the main game. Maybe they'll leave in the DVS for another year, or maybe even lease him out to another team?

Personally, I find Riana Cretan to be an annoying **** & the hardest thing to take about watching Supercars.

I agree.

Edit: Some residents are arguing over the Newcastle route.
I drove the proposed route this past weekend. It's tight.

The turn one up Watt St is going to need resurfacing for one. There is such a dip on entry, cars will be loosing front clips.
So much ripping up of curbs and even trees at the park entry.
Running past Fort Scratchely is similar to Monaco. Blind kink and crest before the downhill to the Nobby's. Plus, the pit entry. Gonna be lots of work. As well as council deciding to make the light rail where the tracks once were for the inner city train. Whew!

Jeez, sounds like you're describing the Canberra street circuit. Cambers, dips, narrow...

Yes, indeed. I watched the replays of the KL City exhibition. That track was pretty good compared to Newcastle. At least there is some track width.

Newcastle will be the Monaco of the series. I don't see passing anywhere. Maybe Turn 1 or if a car has a bad set up. It's going to be 1st/2nd/3rd gear stuff from Turn 2 to Turn 6. As quick as these cars are, it looks like a short lap.

Oh how exciting

Really, for the life of me, I don't know why they don't put the millions of dollars that are going to be spent here, behind the local bid for a permanent facility in the area.

I was being facetious. Selim Mehajer was the property developer and deputy mayor of Auburn council and is the guy who made national headlines when he closed a city street with fake permits to hold an extravagant wedding, and then got caught using his position as deputy mayor to approve zoning permits that he stood to profit from when they were developed.
I know who he is.
He also recently smiled pretty for photos when he got back from that fare "beating" in Europe.

The perfect example of a **** stain on the undies of life :irked:

This is for real
