I am disappointed with Egypt and Poland, especially Poland with the squad they have.

In a group with Spain, Italy and Croatia.
In a 16 team tournament. There were 13 places available for European teams at this world cup, and 1 for Russia. There was just 1 more for those Euros (2 hosts). Netherlands, Italy, and Bulgaria (?) only have themselves to blame for not qualifying.

Can someone please tell the Portuguese to kick the ball in their own net. Twice. Spain do not deserve to go through playing like this.

How do you know it was a red card review?

Honest question, I don't have that kind of information.
That was the official stance of the VAR review. It said it below on the screen when the blue boxes appeared.

The last 10 minutes have been mental. All he had to do was hit the target and Iran are through and Portugal out.

I was supporting Iran to cause a shock and knock Spain or Portugal out, but Portugal got robbed badly there.

VAR is proving to be a liabilty at this level... what a total farce.

Still, Iran were so close to winning the damn group there! Incredible!!

Let's face it, that was a terrible game of football - and some barmy decisions on VAR as well... the only saving grace is that Portugal didn't win the group, thanks to a late goal from Spain and an awful penalty decision for Iran. That said, I don't believe Ronaldo's penalty should have been given either, and I'm glad he missed - and he is a lucky boy not to have been sent off and be suspended for their next game.

Iran were utterly incredible this tournament.

Deserved to go through for their attitude and level of performance throughout.

Spain and Portugal squeek through. Both will get thumped in the knockouts if they continue this type of form.

Meanwhile Spain had a goal disallowed for offside which was given by VAR. A near perfect example of how it can work, it just took 30 seconds too long when the first replay was obvious.

Iran an absolute credit to this tournament. I said it after the last game, they never stop running and trying. Fitness and effort for the whole game. Spain and Portugal looking ordinary. Incredible mistakes from the Spanish tonight, unbelievable for what should be the most experienced team at this world cup. Ronaldo missing in action tonight. It's sad that players like him and Messi don't have a team around them to let them shine.

VAR for red card to Ronaldo was a joke.

Penalty for Iran was a joke too (and because of it Portugal lost the 1st place).

The saving grace was Quaresma's beautiful goal!

Uruguay next. It'll be a tough game.

Didn't watch Spain vs Morocco. Was Spain helped by the refs as usual?
