Careless from Mascherano - but that was a classic example of a dive that exploited a minor foul, and the Nigerian player went to ground entirely of his own volition.

However Di Maria's dive was absolutely ridiculous - how that wasn't a yellow card is beyond me. I can only imagine that the referee was laughing so hard he forgot to book him.

Well at least this was a dive after a foul by the opponent, rather than play acting and pretending they are hurt after they've committed a foul which seems to becoming even more common and of course it goes unpunished.

The only thing of note earlier from that dreadful game was when the Danish lad led with his arm into the French guys head and then went down like he'd been punched in the face, should be a big ban for all that type of fakery, same with the Panama player who elbowed Lingard in the face and then rolled around and even got the free kick for his trouble.
 
The Argentinians are completely lost at this WC.

If the game ends like this they'll be last in the group.
 
Argentina score against the run of play with just 4 minutes left....

...but perhaps more importantly, it now means Iceland can qualify if they can grab just one more goal!

Ah well. Shame for Nigeria.

At least we know one thing. This Argentina will never become world champion. 1 decent opponent and they're out. And that will be France. Hmm.
 
The best group of the tournament so far - of all 4 teams, Argentina are undoubtedly the least deserving of the place in the Last 16 despite a hard fought win tonight... I'm only glad for Messi, but I don't think they have a hope in hell of progressing beyond the QFs. Nigeria were brilliant and (mostly) played with a good spirit, but IMO Iceland were by far the most impressive in terms of effort and approach to each game. Croatia look great, however, and are worthy of their 9 points, which in a group with as much skill as this one, is no mean feat - well done to them. Shame to see Iceland go out, but to still be in with a chance of qualifying with just 3 minutes to go of the Group Stage is a brilliant achievement - sadly, sometimes the most deserving don't get what they deserve, but we can't complain that it wasn't an exciting group!
 
Argentina incredibly lucky to get through but that Messi goal and Rojo finish deserved to win any football match. Messi looked dead on his feet at the end. Think they will be out with a wimper in the next match.
 
If there's a first place team they wanted to face I reckon this France will do Argentina nicely... France have been poor so far but unlike Argentina haven't had the opposition to capitalise on it.

Speaking of which. Croatia are going deep this tournament. For sure.
