Man... that No. 71 Mercedes-Benz looks hot! Love the black and the purple on that baby. Also, I must admit I like that Nissan DPi with the old style Nissan colors (like the No. 54). Then again, this car stands a better chance in this race than that Nissan GT-R LM.

One more caution period and the #55 Mazda could be back on the lead lap. Still not over yet for Mazda!

#7 stayed out and picked up points for being 1st at the 12 hour mark for the North American Endurance Championship

Penske getting straight to being Penske. Me thinks they’re serious about bringing home some silverware at the end of the season this year.

Edit: seeing the #3 Vette on the end of that toe rope brakes my heart :(

#24 slow on the apron. Limping back to the pits.
Edit: Right front flat and nose damage from an off track excursion.

Wow the engine bay of that M8 is cavernous...reminds me of a Chevy Suburban from the ‘80s

Got to admit that I don't get what benefits BMW gains by running a car that big when others run smaller cars. Even the M6 was big.

Is it because M8 and the M6 are the only roadcars they have with big engines, and they rather keep it that way, then caving in and dropping a V8 into the the new Z4?:banghead:

Just a reminder that rain is coming in the next hour and a half or two.

I think it has more to do with what model BMW want to put forth as their premier model. The Z4 is old, and not exactly top of their food chain. You’re probably right that the engine selection has something to do with it.

It wouldn’t apply to the GTLM cars, but in the case of the GT3 version of the car, I think you could make an arguement that a larger and more stable platform is well suited for racing on the Nurburgring, which I think is one of the thing BMW targeted with these larger GT3 cars.

#71 to the garage.
Edit: Now returning to the track.

Edit: #6 getting another nose change.

We talked about this earlier during the roar - some teams have really nailed the use of LED light strips to enhance their night time liveries. Examples of ones I like would be the #10 Cadillac DPi, the GTLM Porsches, the Ford GT GTLMs, the Monteplace by Land GTD Audi (which has mismatched headlights btw, I just noticed...one yellow, one white...odd), and the Black Swan AMG GT3.

Other teams seem to wear socks with their sandles, and come up with aweful night time themes. Examples would be:

- Mazda DPis, red and silver cars...with green LED highlights :yuck:
- Starworks Audi. “Retro” factory Audi livery....with rainbow LEDs. I mean, I appreciate the creativity to try something new, but it looks aweful, and doesn’t go with the red white and black factory Audi livery at all.
- the 88 Audi in GTD...red and white Canada flag livery...and then blue and green LEDs. C’mon man

Edit: just thinking about it more...for the Mazdas, red would be my choice for LEDs...but that might be too close to looking like fire. Too soon?

Also, the 88 Canada flag car. The green grill looks turrible...but Canada has gone green, so I guess it fits

#55 stopped out on circuit from p5

Some serious rear steering going on with the 55. I think that’s game over now. These guys can’t buy any luck

#55 stopped in turn 3. Spun in the international horseshoe.
Caution is out.

Edit: My weather app is predicting rain in 1 hour.

Edit: More work being done on the front of the #6.

Green Flag! Leaders are as follows;
DPi: 10
LMP2: 18
GTLM: 911
GTD: 33
