2020/21 Exhibition Series - Season 2 - Round 3
Nations Cup
Race #3 - Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98
Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit

Had mildly optimistic hopes for this race, after setting some reasonably fast FP times this week. Ultimately getting to 1:47.5 just before the race. I knew a 1:48.0 would be a pole, and sure enough, it was... but it wasn't mine. I helped the pole sitter with a nice tow but scrubbed too much speed off my own turns, to start 3rd in this race. That's ok, should be a solid points haul if I could stay close to that all race.

It was a very tough race... it's so hard to defend and keep pace, and if someone pressures you instead of working together, good bye to the guys in front of you for the rest of the race. Glad it was only 12 laps!

I managed to fight back to 4th after falling to 5th at one point, and going into the last lap, the guys behind were dicing for their positions, so all I had to do was keep it clean. Got through Paddock about as well as I had all race... this is good... no pressure into Druids and I should be home free with a great finish. But as I entered Graham Hill, my car oversteered just a bit on those wearing street tires, and it put my just inches over the track limits...

A 0.5 sec penalty in this race was a death sentence. I tried to build up a cushion, but in the heat of the moment, I saw it go from over 0.6 sec into Hawthorn, to 0.2 into Sheene, and after the penalty I fell side by side with 8th, who I battled to the line line Rowdy and Cole in rental cars, but ultimately couldn't hold him off... a tough-pill-to-swallow 9th place, when I had 4th in hand with just over a mile to go.

While the modest DR gain puts me at another new all time high, and the points are decent, I really blew it, and I'm $%^&'ed about it. A stupid mistake, after a very good session. That's two races in a row where I blew a better finish on the last lap. I need a race performance shrink!

Edit: re-ran it, thinking a top 10 was easy to repeat. Big mistake Got shoved around the gladiator pit in mid-pack until I was 14th. Ultimately this is stupid race and the current penalty setup allowing side contact just invited the pigs to push people around and not really race fair. Stupid combo, nowhere to pass and no rules to prevent that crap. Messed up my FIA points with the re-run and lost DR. I'm done repeating races... I tried to stop but I didn't stick to it.

Had to go twice tonight. The first race, I got two 1s pens on lap one for ever so slightly bumping the car ahead, and the rest of the race went down hill pretty quickly from there.

The second race went much better. Found a nice draft in Q for once and got my highest ever top split start at P5, I don’t care that it wasn’t the strongest top split either, I’ll take it. The race started and I was just trying to hang on to the guys ahead, managed to run most of the race in P4, staying just barely ahead of P5. But in T2 on lap 12 he got around, along with the two behind him. I made one of the spots beck before the lap ended to finish P6. It was a fun race, but I’m glad I don’t have to do again.

Had to get a bit aggressive to defend P5 (hopefully it wasn't too aggressive ) - between that and a lot of people only running 1/3 rounds so far I managed to get a spot in Nations and Manu for Top 16 Superstars. I don't think it will be broadcasted this season but will see what happens.

Also this round was cool to drive but a bit average to race - you could get close to the car in front but I don't think the top 5 positions changed after midway through the first lap of the race.

Done my first national Cup race today. Did 4 of the races dr C sr S.
First race I came 3rd starting from 7th.
Second race I started 7th again had a absolute brilliant battle with a French guy came 3rd!
The 3rd race i got side swiped going through druids ended up think it was 11th.
The 4th race qualifying i got pole. Was so excited to get stuck in. Race started managed to keep pole. Ended the race with a 8 sec gap to 2nd place. Really boosted my confidence. I saved the replay as soonas I figure how to share it I will with you guys. I also shared the replay with the race battle with the fench guy.
Ended the 4 races with a Dr B aswell so good day!

...it's a good thing this car/course combo will only show up once (tonight) then never show up again in future seasons, right? Right?

Missed the first slot so made it in for the second and third slots. Both races were an absolute dumpster fire. It seems that nobody can keep their composure, and corners are passing points so long as you are used as a wall. Raced with @KosmoKazi in my first race. Everything was going well for the most part, until some time later in the race a player brakes unexpectedly at Paddock Hill and I jerk my car out of the way to avoid smacking into then, going off into the sand and being sent all the way down into last in 19th place. Two laps later, I catch up to the player ahead of me after getting a much better exit off of Surtees; down the straight, said player is blocking the middle of the road and I make my move by merging right attempting to pass as I have much higher speed due to the better exit...and what do they do? They turn their car into me and run me off the road and into the wall! Lost sight of the pack, race ruined and a huge DR loss for finishing dead last.

Next race was no better. Qualified for 8th and held it for a few laps, but of course this race goes downhill just as quickly. Lots of corners are passing points for a lot of players it seems, so long as they dig deep inside of the corner and push you out unto the sand, off the tarmac or into the wall. Happened to me three times at Paddock Hill, once at Hawthorns, and once at Westfield. One player was punished rightfully so with a four-second penalty for their actions, and I almost caught up to them until I was walled-off further down the grid. Finished 17th, almost dead last again, but the 18th player just gave up I guess. Wouldn't blame them. No DR lost from this race it seems, but not going back for the remaining two slots. Nooooo thank you...

57 points! Tuity-flippin'-fruity! :grumpy:

I only had time for one attempt today. Qualified 9th. Unfortunately, that was short lived as while we were all going into turn 3, another car went sideways in my path, and I had to take my car completely off track exiting the turn to avoid hitting them. This obviously killed my momentum and I lost 3 places. Now the only thing I could rely on was for incidents to occur and capitalizing on the mistakes of others, which did happen. The biggest was a car that got a 4 second penalty for pushing another off at T1, so two free positions for me. Other than that, nothing worth really writing about.

Looking forward to next Saturday though. I love Super Formula, and assuming nothing gets in the way, I'll do every slot until I get a good result if I have to. :)

10th to 4th. Probably my best gain in a race not due to accidents.

Felt I had a pole car but was held up by on lap 2 by the guy who qualified 3rd. Felt the same for @SpeedStarGTS. We were both very much quicker than that 3rd car. Though, I admit I should've backed off.

The race was good. Solid start off the line. I over revved the engine in 1st off the line and managed to gain some time off the cars in front. Noticed many drivers where struggling with Paddock Hill. Understandable with these cars. And I just spent the first half picking a car off here and there. By then the tires started to be an issue and the 6th place car starting to close in. Was able to hold him off as the leaders were battling and I was catching their draft. 4th place got a half second corner cut penalty on the last lap, so it promoted myself to 4th. A very fun race for one I was not originally planning on running.

The Italian had a bad run out of Clark Curve, allowing the Pole to catch up. He then had another bad run out of Paddock Hill and went into Druids defensive. The Pole however was not having any of it and went into his back, sending him off the track. A dirty move without a doubt but had the
Hi, this Pole was me:) About this Italian, watch replay and look what he did from the begining... And no he wasnt defending, he tried to push me off track when realised that I got much more speed... He almost murdered at least 3 players, divebombs and using other cars as brakes... I just gave him what he deserves. If I was dirty, Ill done same thing to you or this Portuguese, and I didnt, why?:)
About race itself, practicing paid off.
Boring car on exciting track, key was to qualify well, which I partially did.. My QT in first slot was 1,48.357... In this third race I didnt remember, but for sure not as good.

Edit: BTW I got CRB so even game says it was legimate move;)

I did not check his entire race but that one moment looked pretty clear to me. That said however I had a few lagspikes during the race, so what I see in my replay might not be completely accurate. Apologies if I'm mistaken :)

No problem at all! Of course I tap his back intentionally:mad: But as I said, he just got what he give... Race before this one, I was fighting for 7th with Spaniard, on last lap I made not very clean move trying to overtake him, and he goes offtrack... I feel bad with this so I waited for him before finish line, Im no dirty driver:cheers: But if someone drives without any respect to others like Italian did, Im not very nice:cool:
Can I send you friend request?

Sure thing mate, just accepted your request

Nations Rd. 3 Integra @ Brands Hatch

Couple of months ago I hadn't even touched any of the road cars but I've been busy! Knew I'd have a great shot at this race after the BH MR2 combo for a daily a few weeks back and put in my FP time of 46.2 with optimal of top 5 in the world in the 45.8s so I was confident headed into this one. Entered the first couple of slots and either binned it in qualifying or just had no room on track shoved a bit wide so I entered the 3rd slot Top Split and finally managed to get the qualifying results I was looking for although still not in the 46s which I knew I was capable of instead 47.1 which was good enough for pole position in a tough lobby.

I did everything I could to throw the win away immediately starting the race with false start penalty but maintained the lead halfway thru the race when VQS driver caught me when I picked up a track penalty at Sheenes, after about 8 laps my tires were felt dead and it was no longer try and make a move for first but try and manage the 2+ sec gap we had built over 3rd. I had to play defense on lap 12 and block 2nd to final corner and ended up keeping the position to finish 2nd for 266 points. My highest total yet!

Woke up this morning in the Top 16 for NA my first ever! Ranked #9 in the US

Also managed to get good results at Monza for 253 points which puts me at #1 for Ford for the first time ever hope to stay there!

Big thanks to @Adam Barber for the sweet livery!

OK just wasted 1 Mill on the cars for the next National, did a couple of laps for practice and it's not funny. Maybe with a wheel I could control this, but I doubt it, it's just too fast and that isn't a circuit for it. Think I'll sit this one out..... OK I'll probably have a go, but I don't expect to do well unless everyone crashes.

I'm not expecting much going into the next race myself but DS4 isn't too bad if you put the time in. I'm on controller myself as well as at least 3 of the top 10 guys on leaderboard being on DS4 at the moment.

Honestly it is about practice more than anything. Get some TCS on there and play it safe. I expect a total dumpster fire inside a sewage plant for both races this week, but I'm going anyway. Hopefully I can get some good savage clips of disasters, even if they are mine.

It’s a bad combo. The car is fine. The track is alright. But together, it’s just a disaster. Normally would love a go with the SF-19. But not at this dumpster fire of a race.

I said the exact same thing after putting in a few practice laps since the nasties are out on the Daily Races currently. After not driving on Mount Panorama for a few months, I put in about 15 practice laps on the course with the Super Formula and got down to a 1:43.6 at the moment, which I thought was pretty good. Then I take a look at the Top 10 leaderboard...

Thankfully there's plenty of time to practice until the next round. I vastly prefer this combo over what we had last night, though I still predict there's gonna be trouble. Nonetheless, no matter the time I set in Free Practice, unless you're a machine or an alien, you're probably not going to match that pace in the real race unless you get boosted with slipstream or are really that consistent. I use Free Practice to get an idea for my peak pace I can keep/times I can set. The closer I get to the top times, the more confident I feel leading up towards the real race. No matter the outcome, I know that I'm doing the best that I can and just hope others will do the same, though if last night's race is anything to go by, you can't expect much... :scared:

See I'm looking forward to the other one, yes there are problem areas but the cars are just fast. I've not been doing anything with the really fast cars since I started and this track just isn't one I would choose to pop my cherry on. I'll just just be thankful it's not Nord.. you know that German one.

The people who do the scheduling for this game really struggle to figure out how to run the SF cars. Last time out we where at Laguna Seca. A great track, but another tight circuit that just doesn’t work for these cars with the quality of talent in the average field.

I'm looking forward to the Panorama race even though I expect it will be difficult. I've been using TCS 3 and BB -3 in practice. So far my best qualifying lap is 1:46.9, and I really have no idea how competitive or slow that will be in DR B. However, this race will require a pit stop because you have to use RH tires, and I expect the field will get strung out after a few laps as fast drivers move ahead and others go off track. My goals is to keep it on track and try to be consistent :).

I'm planning to run several custom races vs. AI this week to get used to going around this track with other cars. We'll see if that helps!

They seem to box themselves in to selecting Asia Pacific real tracks with the Super Formula.

Well being useless I'm not much slower on hards than meds, but the car can only do 8 laps on a tank (got 9 with nothing left shoving it to 2 on the 9th) and 8 laps seems about right for me and those tyres so I'm going to do a 1 stopper at lap 5 and go onto the meds and fill her up. I know it would be faster doing it the other way, but I recon I'll be at the back just trying to stay clean and having the better tyres at the end might let me pick up a place or 2 from people who didn't have any strategy.

Seems weird to do a Server Maintenance just before the FIA Manu race. PD could be testing something(penalties?) and yeah, it's only Exhibition, but still a bit sketchy on this particular day.
