Just started playing a month ago, just gonna do races as I like a scheduled time/direction for playing so this is nice. Any recommendations for beginner-friendly/easy-ish to drive manufacturers?
Hyundai has fairly decent all round cars, not going to win much but never difficult. Depends what you like really, Ford (Mustang) Jag and Aston are also decent drives basically I'd just steer clear of MRs as the can be tricky.

Finally picking the same manufacturer as my RL car. :)

Audi has a solid range. Not the fastest but excellent traction even with TC off and very easy to drive, can be generally competitive across all circuits.

Aston Martin, trade a higher pace for a little less control but still very reliable in the corners.

Between standing starts and high tire wear this season, I wouldn't go with any manufacturer with an FF offering for Gr.4...
Time to bring it home to my first love in motorsport, the timeless rumble of the Corvette

Now THIS I approve of (as someone that's driven exclusively Corvettes for every single season ). It's also a safe, easy car to drive too.

After ditching the 2021 main season during the first half and then vanishing for 5 months due to real life stuff, I'm back for the (final?) exhibition season. Long story short, mental health is important. Something that should be fun can end up making things more stressful when you don't take enough time for yourself!

I've signed for Hyundai this time as it's another manufacturer I've never tried.

Whilst I was away, I've been experimenting with Inkscape to see if I can convert images into SVGs and I think I'm getting the hang of it. So for this season, I've made some Enter the Gungeon liveries. :P

Not sure whether this will be a good choice. They seem pretty average at everything, will have to see!
You should enter those into the livery editor competition! 👍👍

These will be fun seasons, I feel it. Nothing to complain about the calendar yet (but SSRX). + Finally a race at Fisherman's ranch 🌞.

This little off-season period made me realize that I liked the competitive side of things a lot more than I first thought. I also can't wait to read the post race action of all you guys on here! This is one of the best parts for me.

Looking forward for some great and (hopefully) clean racing. Have a good one guys! Cheers:cheers:

I've whittled it down to four Manus. Wanted to choose something I had not used before.

Not Ford
Not Lexus
Not Porsche
Not Toyota
Not Mercedes
Not Aston

I also cannot drive the gr3 Hurrican to save my life.

Not Lamborghini

What I've come to notice with most manus, if I love the gr4 car I dont like the gr3 car and vice versa.

Down to
BMW
Jaguar
Ferrari
Hyundai

Hello everyone!

So, if I trust my little knowledge, in Manu it looks like fuel economy won't really matter, but tyrewear could be a big issue.

Am I right?

I was going to choose a brand that's usually good on fuel but bad on tyres, so I really hope I'm wrong ^^
There might be the odd race where fuel saving helps, but it's tyre wear that is most important IMO.

Well, as it is likely a final season for GTS I'm excited to go for some of the silly Nations combos. Not really able to do Manu this time as the start times for the first slots are way too late for me. Can definitely expect total chaos at Fisherman's Ranch and the usual shenanigans at SSRX.

Now to figure out how to properly tune a Gr2 car

I'm not sure if logitech is going to fix the pedals of my G29 soon (luckily still under warranty), so I'm very inclined to pick up a stable car this season to play with DS4 back again. I had good memories with Porsche, but I don't like Cayman.

Have signed with Porsche. It’s safe, it’s boring but I just love how they drive.

Nations looks like a typical mix of utter lunacy with some very familiar combos mixed in. I will try and avoid taking it too seriously and see what fun can be had.

What Hasnain said, Mercedes or Porsche, they're both great for beginners and really easy to drive. Mercedes is better in a straight line and the AMG GT3 is one of the most stable Gr.3 cars and a real all rounder

This season being probably the last on GTS, do you think all the big names are going to take part ? To be crowned "last champion" of GTS ? I really hope so !

As for me, I'd have loved to go with the beautiful Ferrari or McLaren cars but their GT3 versions are too sketchy on worn tyres (and my right foot is a but too heavy on corner exit) so I'll stick with my habit of using unpopular brands (just to be different and have an excuse if I underperform, you know) :

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, here I am!

Probably on my 2nd account though, just because I don't have time to practice for both series and I tend to prefer Nations anyway for 2 reasons : driving skills matter more than the car you're stuck with and I can easily compare how I fare with people from my country.

That being said, my goals for this season :

Nations : Top 5 Switzerland (heavily depending on who will take part)
Manu : Top 10 Mitsu (probably too optimistic but again it depends on participation)

I wish you all great fun in the coming weeks, let's enjoy our passion one last time ! (before it gets serious again on March 4th)

Being the final manufacturer season, I might just go for Alfa, Subaru or Dodge. I've always liked their Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars but never felt they're especially competitive. But DR ratings don't matter that much anymore as we're on our way out of this game, so throwing caution to the wind seems like it's not such a bad idea! I doubt I'll have loads of time for the races this season, but might just take a bash when I get a chance.

Quick show of hands: should I go Alfa, Dodge or Subaru?

Would be Dodge for me as I don't even think I've driven one in GTS, definitely added to my list to change that.

So what's the worst one? Thinking of being silly with an alt. Won't do French and don't want to use FF.
With the tire wear like it is, Ford maybe? The Mustang is hella fast on the straight but eats tires like mad and isn't the best car on turn in. Aston in the DBR9 is rough, made that mistake, but the gr4 car is solid. Really hard to say.

Done Aston and I don't mind them, love the Mustangs but never used them for FIA so might just do that.

So, I went with Toyota this likely-to-be-final FIA season even though I'm probably going to hate myself in every race where tire wear is a factor. But it seems somewhat fitting in that I absolutely feared the Supra when I started playing Sports mode and now I actually find it fun to drive. I broke from tradition and went with a Cars themed livery this time around because why not?

I really need to stop procrastinating with my race reports....

Nations X2019 at Sardegna A

Race 1 saw me start a promising 5th on Mediums. I only lost 1 place in the initial mayhem before losing another place later on. I ended up binning it be outbraking myself under slipstream into turn 9 on lap 5, before getting nudged off the penultimate corner and tumbling down to 12th by the start of the next lap.
h9B4XAX.jpg

I boxed from 11th on lap 9 for Softs and fuel, getting back up to 7th after everyone served their stops, which was where I finished for 135 points after barely edging out 8th in the drag race to the line.
4Bmfb5V.jpg

It was a decent result, but I felt that I could have gotten more had it not been for that mistake. So I went in again.

Strategy: 9M-11S with refuel

I ended up starting much further down the order in a disappointing 12th. This time round, I held my position in the carnage, with mistakes from other drivers promoting me to 8th by the start of lap 2. I lost 1 place on lap 7 into turn 1 before pitting on lap 9 for Softs and fuel like before.
2vxqt6F.jpg

Exiting in 13th, I gained a place from someone slipping up at turn 9 before making a pass into turn 1 to secure another place. Moving up to 8th from others pitting, I then picked a fight with #4 over 7th, emerging the victor when he clipped the gravel out of turn 1.
bmQEbWk.jpg

7th became 6th as someone spun at the penultimate corner on lap 14. I took 5th off #14 into turn 1, but he returned the favour at the same corner on the penultimate lap, leaving me to come home 6th for 138 points.

With a minor point improvement over Race 1, I elected to call it a day.

Nations N400 at SSRX

lnchjxM.jpg

Qualifying was not great as I was one of the last to leave the pits, forcing me to work was an '88 Supra and a RX-7 GT-X to start 13th.

On the bright side, the 5 cars ahead of me were '88 Supra and R33 GT-Rs. My 993 easily made mincemeat out of them with its superior acceleration, getting ahead of all 5 of them well before the Hump. I then tried and failed to pass the Corvette C3 downhill for 7th, before bump-drafting the Corvette to catch up to the leading pack.

FDrJQOL.jpg

We had caught up to the leaders just before entering the tunnel, before the Corvette unwisely pulled out of the slip in a futile attempt to pass, handed me 7th and forcing the Corvette to tuck in behind me. Then I zoned out and grazed the outside wall into turn 2, allowing the Corvette to waltz back past on the inside.
sGmzAMq.jpg

I would retake 7th on exit as the pack scrambled to form up into a train again. Things were mostly uneventful on lap 2 save for the Corvette sending a Chinese Porsche round out of turn 1 in what seemed like a racing incident.
BAxfPjO.jpg

Meanwhile, I had climbed up to 4th out of turn 1, holding the place for most of the lap until a Fugu Z just managed to edge me out in the run to the line.
TgpLxKD.jpg

I don't know how the game deemed me to be behind the Fugu Z. But with 5th place and 169 points in hand, I was done for the day. One and done.

Nations N300 at the Green Hell

Race 1's qualifying got completely ruined when an idiot went off at Aremburg and rejoined perpendicular to the track right in front of me. I ended up going off myself while raging at his stupidity, putting myself down in 15th.

I lost a place when a GT40 passed me on the inside at Metzgesfeld, before a mistake from him at Eschbach allowed me to reel him in. We ended up coming together at Brunnchen when he braked earlier than I had expected, forcing me to the inside and causing him to cut across my bumper and slide out wide.
J9MYrpI.jpg
q9cAuUu.jpg

I pulled away from the pack and gained 2 places off penalties being served down the Dottinger Hohe on lap 2, finishing 13th. I apologised to the other GT40 afterwards.

Race 2 was even more miserable, as despite leaving a sizable gap between me and the idiot from Race 1, I ended up right behind him as the esses leading to the Mini Carousel. I ended up on the grass while trying to pass him and ruined my lap. The lap was still good for 8th, but I was really peeved at having 2 quali runs get wrecked by the same idiot.

The race itself was little better, as I immediately got a track penalty from running a little too wide at the final corner. To add salt to wounds, I got caught behind traffic into Aremburg and consequently got shuffled wide and down to 11th. I made up a couple of places, but proceeded to throw it all away by running into the gravel preceding the Mini Carousel and dropping back down to 11th.

QuDMFcm.jpeg

Thankfully, the idiot was not in Race 3, allowing me to finally make a clean lap to start 7th. Then the Supra '20 starting directly behind promptly mugged me round the outside of the final chicane.
FO60Mwe.jpg

Not great, but I had expected the possibility of getting dumped by the Supra off the line. The next car behind was another GT40, so I was safe for the time being. I would retake 7th off a GT40 taking the scenic route at Adenauer Forst.
AzTfh5t.jpg

The next place gained came from a F50 flying off at Flugplatz on lap 2.
gj9DQ4y.jpg

A fellow Gulf GT40 then ran wide and spun at Kallenhard, handing me 5th with the next GT40 ahead with a track penalty.
sWTYIdK.jpg

However, the other Gulf GT40 was back on my tail by Wippermann, forcing me to let 4th go and start defending.
FIUVdfZ.jpg

Despite my best efforts, he ultimately passed me down the Dottinger Hohe, leaving me to settle for 8th and 180 points.

Manufacturers Gr.3 at Brands Hatch

To put it bluntly, this round was an unmitigated disaster. Races 1 to 3 saw me fly off the track at some point, while Race 4 got ruined by a dirty driver shoving me off at Graham.

Strategy: 11S-12S with refuel

Livery by Raychii_DvR9

Race 5 had me put in a good qualifying to start 7th, only to have a atrocious run through Paddock that allowed the BMW behind to get alongside into Druids and take the inside line, costing me 7th. Not good.
k8ALLCC.jpeg

I was able to keep the BMW in sight until lap 5, when the Aston behind began fighting me over 8th and compromised both of our lines through Hawthorns as a result.
9VgSpa3.jpeg

Fortunately for me, that backed up the Aston enough for a Chinese NSX to make a pass on him while I got away.

That left me on my own until the second half of lap 9, when the NSX with pack in tow caught up. I managed to hold them off until my stop for tyres and fuel on lap 11.

The extra fuel I had to take on for running flat out sent me down to 15th behind the NSX. Not good. Luckily for me, I jumped up to 12th from others stopping, with the NSX and a Z4 coming together out of Paddock resulting in the latter getting nudged into the gravel and losing control to hand me 11th.
Q9lredk.jpeg

On lap 14, a Subaru on slightly fresher tyres caught up to me and forced me on the defensive again. I ended up taking too much kerb at Westfield the following lap, wrecking my exit speed and handed 11th to the Subaru.
m0NqdQ9.jpeg

The next lap, the NSX ploughed into a GT-R who in turn sent an unlucky Merc off at Paddock, allowing me to retake 11th.
gwkN3ew.jpeg

A resurgent Z4 was back on my tail by the end of lap 16, only to run a little too wide and spin at Sheene.
00qWgf7.jpeg

One rival down, but now I had to contend with the Aston from the start of the race. He finally got alongside into Surtees on lap 21 and stayed with me down Pilgrim, forcing me to concede 11th through Hawthorns and take a pointless 12th for 104 points, three places short of my target.

Nations Roadster Touring

Race 1 saw me run off the Chicane of Nonsense twice. Races 2 and 3 got ruined by idiots deciding to go 2-wide into the esses, with me getting fed into the walls as a result. Race 4 was better, but still not enough to count.

45GGkrT.jpeg

I put in a decent qualifying to start 9th, but things unraveled at the long right before the esses. I got caught out by the orange #6 diving up the inside of the white #2 just as I was trying to go round the outside of #2. That sent #6 wide and in turn fed me into the wall and down to 14th.
HasVNHC.jpeg
r8EuAcI.jpg

A number of cars then wipe out at the Chicane of Nonsense to put me back up to 10th, but still nowhere near my target of 5th. The following lap had me accidentally nudge the red #16 wide at the first chicane. Not great, but my desperation to salvage something out of this race and the pack right behind us meant I ended up flashing my hazards in apology instead of giving the place back.
hTDIzEq.jpeg

vL7Drg6.jpg

I managed to pull away from the pack and catch up to the green #17 in 8th halfway through lap 4. I made the pass with a dive up the inside into turn 1, but he fought back by staying alongside me at the second hairpin.
MA5V19d.jpeg
DEwlSYN.jpg

He then backed out at the Chicane of Nonsense, only to hit me mid-chicane, ruining my exit and shoving past me.
qFhCoo5.jpg

Unhappy with his move, I caught up to him and pressured into a mistake at the same chicane the following lap, sailing back past him.
VlIxqwH.jpg

By lap 7, the red #16 had caught up to me and retook his position by taking the inside into the first chicane.
RADRbRY.jpg

Green #17 also got past me at the second hairpin, but completely butchered the Chicane of Nonsense, causing me to crash into his slow car and sending him wide and into a spin as a result.
wZFKIDZ.jpg
sr8Aqh5.jpg

With #17 out of contention, I focused on hunting down #16, only for him to run wide out of the final corner on lap 8 and hand 8th back to me. #16 came back at me on lap 11, result in us tangling at the Chicane of Nonsense as I cut the second half of the chicane and sent #16 wide again, taking a track penalty and dropping down to 10th behind the white #8 and red #16 as a result.
vtTULMn.jpg

#16 then messed up the Chicane of Nonsense and handed me 9th, followed by #8 suffering the same fate on the final lap to give me a pointless 8th for 116 points. Not a good day for me.
