I'd previously been with Jaguar for the Manufacturer's but have changed to Dodge for the upcoming season...

I've made the exact same switch! Now looking for a pair of liveries for my new cars...

EDIT: I've thought up the liveries, just need to get them made now - that's tonight's job.

What are the pros and cons of the Jaguars? (for a mediocre pad user/automatic gear driver)
As per @xxPinkyKissxx comment above, not many cons. Fuel consumption isn't great, but the Gr.4 has a 7th gear which is immensely useful when needing to fuel save - short shifting really early works well on this, but that's a manual box feature. I found the Gr.3 to be quite sensitive to power input at times, and I also play on a pad, so that's to be considered - that said it's nowhere near as twitchy as many other Gr.3 cars.

They're quick overall, but prefer a power circuit where they can be used to their full potential. Very nimble and very stable over kerbs and bumps, and don't tend to get too unsettled by changes in road angles too badly.

They're also very pretty cars, which is always a bonus! I'll miss that about them!

My liveries from last season:

Since I have this coincidental tradition of having the first post-FIA exhibition season the same as with the full FIA seasons in 2019 and 2020, that means signing with Subaru again.

(Also, if you're into the history of the game, both the WRX Gr.3 and Gr.4 liveries are from pre-release screenshots of the game.)

Thanks guys for the advice!

Really concidered staying with Citroen but fear that too many of the tracks in the exhibition do not suit this brand, especially the Gr 3. the Gr 4 is not very good at the Nordschleiffe to, as i found put in practice

So Jaguar it is, and indeed these car are very good looking and this is my livery for the series.
Kink is my favourite radiostation. decided to use their logo. number 14 is a tribute to Johan Cruijff, 58 to Marco Simoncelli...

Good luck to all, wish you all good fun and good results!!!

Enjoy them. I really got to grips with those guys and found them very stable and predictable to drive. Just watch out for the Gr4 car as it sometimes gets tail happy when you are down in 1st and 2nd gear if you aren't smooth in the throttle. As long as you are ready for it there's no real problem though. Still predictable about it.

Jaguar is always one of the more popular FIA choices. Like others have mentioned, it’s only con is it’s a little thirsty. But it’s almost a moot point because if the multipliers are set to where the event is a fuel-saver….. everyone is going to be short shifting. But not everyone will have the low end torque of the Jag.

still doing some testing for my FIA season. Already decided on my Euro alt. Gotta decide on the main and the American alt…..although my American alt will most likely be a duplicate of one of the brands

So... what are we all picking and why? Any specific reasons? I'm 99% sure I'm going McLaren this time round. Mainly because I made a livery I love  never mind... note to self:refresh once in a while Seth 😂

As you can see a few messages ago I decided to sign with Jaguar, and livery has been done.
Mean reason: not French like the last three manufacturers i signed with and not MR. I wanted to try FR for a change.

Curious about your McLaren livery, sure you will share it with us when you are ready....

I've gone with Dodge. I've done a season with BMW, then one with Jaguar, and felt like going for a brand I don't use often but I often enjoy when I use them. I've had some really good races in the Gr.4 Viper, and there are a number of power circuits in this round, so I feel like the Vipers stand a chance. No idea on their fuel use or tyre eating characteristics though. I've always liked the shape of the Viper too. It's not the nicest body to work on for livery designs, but It's got some wicked proportions.

So I have never delved into alt accounts, but for the final season of GTSport I am seriously considering starting an alt just for FIA and seeing how far I can get it in a single season with no dailies to pad DR. Maybe Canadian?

Talk me out of it…

Think you need to pad a bit so you at least are racing not just ruining it for noobs. Say around 7K and then limit yourself to one and done. By the end of the season you should be fairly well up.

Depends on what you want out of it. You'll be racing for less than 50 points for many of the races and unless you come across a similarly skilled player doing the same, you'll have some pretty lonely races in the lead. Your levelling won't be especially quick, as you will not be taking many DR off people since they are so low.

These are good points. I’m not too keen on just bullying beginners.

I have created an account and I think I might try and seed it by doing enough dailies to get it to SR99 before I enter and then run exclusively FIA. This should probably get me to around 5k or so.

I picked Mitsubishi because:
1. It sounds and looks great
2. Its fun to drive
3. Its not as popular as other brands so hoping to be high in ranking
4. Its Mitsubishi;)

For the 2021/22 Exhibition Series, my manufacturer will be...

Jaguar!

It's good to be bad.

Now, on to the race reports.

Manufacturers - Monza Gr.4

Race 1 was a race to forget, starting at the back and staying there for the entire race.

Race 2's qualifying had me put in a much better lap to start 4th. The BMW starting two places ahead of me got punted off Lesmo 2 by the Hyundai in 3rd, causing me to run into the back of the Hyundai in turn.

I kept up with the leading Aston and Hyundai in the opening laps, with the pack behind getting held up by a Viper botching the second chicane and giving me some breathing space.

The Aston then got the first of many track penalties, allowing the Hyundai and I to catch up. The Hyundai took the lead while I got caught up in a back-and-forth fight with the Aston, with the Aston falling into a cycle of passing me through superior pace, only to serve a penalty and fall behind me.

Now he's ahead of me...

Now he's behind me.

The cycle would be broken on lap 11 when the Aston got 2 seconds of penalties for cutting the first two chicanes and falling out of podium contention. Then the leading Hyundai got a penalty for cutting the second chicane the very next lap, handing me the lead.

I had hoped that the Hyundai would hold off a blue GT-R that had climbed up from the midfield, but a bad exit at the second chicane the following lap allowed the GT-R to easily make the pass up the inside into Lesmo 2, before doing the same to me at Parabolica.

XquQj4F.jpg

That was it. With the GT-R sailing off into the distance and the others too far behind to catch up, I claimed 2nd for 179 points.

Nations - Red Bull Ring Gr.2

Strategy: No stop

After my stellar performance at Monza, it was back to regular service with a mediocre 11th on the grid. And of course, I had a good start to the race by braking too late on cold tyres and launching myself off turn 1.
KREZAUO.jpg

On the bright side, the rolling start meant that I only lost one place to my blunder.

I spent the next few laps lingering behind the #11 NSX that had passed me before getting back past at the end of lap 3 when he tangled with the #8 GT-R ahead.

Another two places were gifted to me on lap 5 when the #8 and #9 GT-Rs came together out of turn 1, with the latter visiting the barrier and tumbling down to last.

grGmtkZ.jpg

I got a penalty for running too wide at turn 1 on lap 8 and proceeded to run deep into turn 3 for good measure, losing 9th to the #11 NSX. At least the penalty did not cost me any more places.

I would reclaim 9th off the #12 NSX getting out of shape out of turn 3 on lap 9.

I managed to keep the purple/black/yellow GT-R behind me and pass two cars in the pits, finishing 7th for 149 points. Not bad considering that tyre management is not my strong suit. One and done.

Manufacturers - Tsukuba Gr.3

Strategy: 7H-16M-14S

Livery by Raychii_DvR9

A good qualifying placed me 7th on the grid. I elected to start on Hards and get the slow stint out of the way. I lost only one place by my stop for Mediums on lap 7, though that was helped by a BMW ahead pitting at the end of lap 1. I came out 11th with clear air ahead.

Lap 13 saw me get sandwiched at turn 1 between a Ford GT I was passing and a NSX that just left the pits, with the NSX getting ahead while the Ford lost out.
lAd6yzK.jpg

Lap 22 saw a Subaru catch up to me before attempting an ill-advised pass round the outside of turn 5.
1H6Nxzb.jpg

When that failed, he proceeded to divebomb me at turn 7 and barge me off, costed me a good chunk of time. Needless to say, I was not amused.
PpV6UGe.jpg

I boxed for the final time on lap 23 for Softs and dropped to 13th behind a Subaru on Mediums and a Hyundai on Hards. With the tyre advantage, I made short work of the Subaru and Hyundai in the first half of lap 25.

GiUpYqy.jpg

I spent the rest of the race jumping late stoppers in the pits and chasing down a RX-V running worn Softs. By the start of the penultimate lap, I was right behind the Mazda and waiting to make my move.

I saw my chance on the final lap, as the Mazda carelessly left the door open into turn 1. I launched myself up the inside as the Mazda slightly turned in on me. We make contact, but I managed to get the job done and finish where I started for 148 points. One and done.

I'll try to get the remaining race reports done by the end of the week.

Absolutely love todays track which sort of makes up the fact that the Nation's on Saturday is a total joke, just give us a proper oval and good cars to go at it. Route X is a snooze.
