With another FIAGTC GTS Farewell Tour Exhibition season soon on February, it's never too late to get a DR increase I guess...

If GT7 was getting delayed again, then they’ll come out and just say it. Yes, PD has a weird way of doing things, but “hinting” at a delay of their most anticipated game since GT5 months in advance is asinine, even for them.

Also an interesting thing to note is unlike previous upcoming season announcements, FIA isn’t mentioned in that news post. This to me is a subtle clue that this new season is going to be something quite different than what we’re used to seeing. Time will tell soon.

My feeling is that this is more of a transition season (like what the test seasons in 2017-2018) or an insurance plan shall GT7 didn't launch smoothly (knowing that a delay isn't possible imo, but poor launches are).

They could possibly be doing this to just cover their bases and that did cross my mind. But making a new championship solely for the event that something doesn’t go right with GT7 seems like a bit of a stretch. I think this is all planned.

1st EU slot, AMG, very tight race, up until the end where people just started punting eachother, me included. Started 12th, was in 6th at one point, after which it all went south. I'm lucky I got 9th, and I would've ended up much lower if I hadn't fought fire with fire. Disgusting.

217 points, only 10 higher than my lowest counted.

Will go again.

RH no-stop.

Just had a very tough race, thought about quitting, but stayed on to get my best point score ever

Door 11 and qualified in 9th after what i thought was an okay lap, so knew i was in a tough lobby.
The start went okay, but from that moment on I felt like a pinata on wheels, got punted and pushed for several laps, lost a lot of positions but got them back with interest as drivers got off track or where pushed of track by others.
After a few laps a Frenchmen in an Aston got a bit aggresive and overtook me. But then he made a mistake so i went past him and for some reason that enraged him. At the end of the straight he did the mother of all divebombs... but i knew it was coming, braked a bit earlier, steered away at the moment of inpact and broke a few ribs laughing as he got himself stuck in the gravel. That was really awesome!

But I just felt so slow and out of place, the cars ahead got away and the cars behind got closer and closer and i could not defend or keep up. I honestly felt like quitting, I had no speed, could not control the car like those around me and got fed up with the constant bumps and pushes. But I manned up and decided to continue and at least finish the bloody race...

It turned out quite a lot of drivers were on mediums and when they started to pit my perseverance was rewarded, i suddenly found myself in fifth place with about fore more laps to go. Another Jaguar was cathing up quickly though, passed me at the first corner but made a small mistake allowing me to get past him again. Lucky for me i found one of the few clean drivers in this lobby, he was close behind me till the end of the race but stayed clean, no bumps or divebombs. i finished about 2 tenths ahead of him in 5th, good enough for 101 points. My first ever +100 score!!!

The German Gentlemen in the green Jag and the final result saved the day for me. Was impressed by the driver's attitude and also with his speed as he started in 17th. All he needed to do to get 5th place was make contact and push me wide but he obviously wanted to race clean. Friend request is send!

Good luck to all racing today and happy holidays to you all!!!

2nd EU slot, started 10th, finished 8th...230 points...cleaner race overall, had to drop a place due to a penalty on the last corner...it's a tricky one. I'm gonna keep trying and see if I can get at least 262 points, enough to get top spot for Mercedes in the region. Should have to finish 5th or so...

Edit: I have failed...

Snuck away from the family to finish off this season properly. Was expecting a slightly weakened lobby and ended up being in the strongest lobby I’ve been in to date!

Qualified 8th but should have been 3rd-4th as i was 3 tenths up coming out of 2nd to last corner but put 2 wheels onto the grass and lost speed.

Thought the race was going to be a filthy mess as the Lexus behind me just barged and ploughed through everyone and then a Supra and corvette were barging and pushing. Finally it settled down and I ended up being a draft buddy with the Corvette and we worked our way up through the field. I almost binned it final lap. I was quicker than the 3 cars in front and could smell a podium and pushed just a bit too hard and lost the back on a kerb but just caught it! Phew!

Added an extra 30 points to my total so Merry Christmas everyone!! :D 🎄

Merry Xmas but what a disaster of race on my side, finishing last, 17th, after making small mistakes and not having pace here. I'm not sure if I go again. I lose so much time in last section. Not sure if we keep the manu choice or this is going to be the last season. Anyway, this is was my best season.

And that xmas music from menu with that vaporware feelings. I feel like it was a departure, a farewell.

Dredge’s Alt Adventures: Chapter 15

In the WRX at Sardegna, door 3 24561/99.

Q3 after having to abort my first flying lap when a peanut decided they could use my car instead of brakes through the downhill right hander.

Into the race proper and the obligatory dive at T1 came from a Brazilian and a Salvadoran in p4 and p5. I stayed wide and let them go and slotted into p5. The next couple of laps were frustrating as I constantly had to ease off out of turns as the two divers continually braked too late and got terrible runs out of turns. On lap 3 P2 went off at the sweeping left in the last sector and I then decided I’d had enough of being slowed down and went past the 2 in front down the straight. This made me a target for divebombs, sideswipes and attempted pit maneuvers for the next lap and a half before I finally cleared the 2 clowns.

By this time I was 7 seconds behind p1 and just tried to string some consistent laps together and see where I was at. By lap 10 I was 9 seconds down and losing about 2 or 3 tenths per lap. Given the small pace difference I decided we were both doing the no stop and so relaxed into ensuring a P2. Around lap 12 almost the entire field behind us went into the pits to get off mediums and by lap 14 we were about 20 seconds clear of p3. It was then that I noticed the 10 second gap to p1 was coming down by almost a second a lap. I started to hope that if he was struggling with wear on his hards I might almost be a chance. Lap 16 and the gap wa down to 6 seconds and it was then that p1 pitted to change from mediums to hards. Suddenly the only thing between me and a win would be an error on my part. But I kept it tidy and crossed the line 17 seconds clear.

118 points and 25959/99.

FIA Gran Turismo Championship
2021 Manufacturers Series - Season 2 - Round 10
Sardegna - Road Track - B // Gr.3 - Porsche 911 RSR (991) '17

Merry Christmas to all the good people here!

Last round... a track I enjoy, and have had some moderate success at in FIA races. Slotted with @AstroVex again, but as you'll read next, wasn't at the pointy end of the grid like he was, so we didn't mix it up again.

Qualified an uninspiring 12th, and started the race right in the middle of no less than THREE Yeetles... man those things really muck up a race... they made speed in such weird places and... not in others. Managed to clear them after a while, being patient, and taking advantage of some scrums ahead at the same time.

Then had to dispatch of a Ford GT driving either like a maniac or with a windshield of red mist, but he was so messy he held me and others up for multiple laps. I finally crowded him off the edge after he failed to yield in a sporting way himself, and left him to the queue behind me to deal with. Started to pull away after that, but with only 5 laps left, wasn't able to catch the remaining cars ahead, and cruised home with nearly a 5 second margin behind, but a few still ahead too.

A solid 8th, good enough to call it a season for now. Grabbed one podium result. Earned some additional FIA points that should move me just a little further up the rankings. Happy with the improvements, and that I was able to gain an average of 3 spots from my qualifying positions, a new all-time high FIA scoring and ranking, and some good fun without a lot of drama, owing to mostly clean racing at this level (and sometimes deftly avoiding trouble better than I used to).

#10 / Q12 / R8 / ~500 DR / 150 FIA points (actually my second best points haul for this season...)

(also unfortunately was placed in a BR server lobby again... made for some bad warping/lagging, that didn't help with the 'race craft' in the mid-pack, and FWIW, the 4 BR drivers were all in the top 7 while the rest of us, were not!)

What an awesome way to finish the season. Well deserved and a smashing livery too!

Merry Christmas everybody! Yesterday I got time to only one race, my goal was to get at least 128pts to be 11th in Mitsubishi, and somehow I managed to do this:
IMG_20211225_154634.jpg

I was very lucky in this one, people killing each other, making mistakes, pitting... I just focused to survive:D
This is how my season for Mitsubishi ended:

Amazingly identical total score and manufacturer positions to @LVS_1986 😮 however, I think the polish word for points ‘Punkty’ beats the English word ;)

Was top 10 for Mercedes going into last round but got outscored by someone. Delighted with this season getting my highest ever total score and highest points in a single round. Do feel that it’s a bit of an ‘if only’ season though after being disconnected on the results screen in round 1 after finishing 5th and then also binning it at Sardegna C when comfortably leading the race, so missing out on some juicy points!

Loved driving the AMG Gr.3 so just makes selection for final season coming up even harder.

It's only the main season you had to keep your choice. If it's another exhibition season then you can pick anew.

How can you both finish 320th in the region? 🤔

My results.

A healthy 52 points in the overall total compared to last time.
With a more represented manufacturer in Toyota I am happy to break into the top 200.
Dropping 328 places in the region isn't too bad considering people came back as they thought it was a farewell season.
The win at Willow brought me my highest points finish ever so loads of positives to take from this season.

I will sort my next manu out in the new year.

Another member of the 11th for manufacturer team, reporting in.

I'm absolutely blown away by how well this Manufacturer season has gone. IIRC my previous personal best from a single FIA race in either Nations or Manufacturers before this season was 191, and now this season's average per counted round is 194. The Hyundai's been good to me!

1640515344665.png

two 7th places, a sixth, 2 fifth and a fourth place, so can not complain about my results. It seems the Jaguar is a good car for me, although i still feel i am getting used to rear wheel drive. Although i do prefer how the Peugeot GR 3 handled and drives, i can not denay the Jaguar GR.3 was the car that provided the best scores ever for me. I just never felt i was totally in control....

Downside this season were some dirty drivers profiting from the abscence of the penalty system. Major upside though were a lot of drivers who tried to race clean, even in these circumstances, and i am truly thankfull for that. Those moments when you have clean fights, knowing either could win it easily when playing dirty, but stay clean nevertheless provide really awesome racing expereriences, regardless of who wins the battle in the end.

Also got my first +100 score, never thought i would have that!

The round at BMB was my first oval race ever, and the highlight of the season, also because i got to see Seth Logan win this event. It was so much fun to do that race, never expected that in advance.

So got my highest score total this season, and second best total ranking ever. nice one!

I had to work on Christmas this year, which is why I thought the Nations Fuji round was going to be my last this season, but I managed to get off early to do yesterday's race. :)

Americas Slot 5, A/S Lobby, Door #8, 216 points

I qualified 13th after barely getting a slipstream.

And the first lap started out with me getting pushed aside before the final corner, causing me to fall down to 18th. But of course, thanks to the sheer mayhem that is this race, I climbed my way back up to 12th. The most shocking of these incidents taking place on lap 5, when another WRX that appeared from behind me and divebombed into a Lancer I was right on the bumper of.

Things finally settled down at about lap 6 or so and I was pretty much driving alone. I gained two positions putting me in 10th after a Porsche and Ferrari both binned it at the uphill section on two separate laps. Things really started to pay off when several drivers ahead began pitting since they started on Mediums. This resulted in me jumping all the way to 6th place. I soon lost it though after a Porsche that I flew past coming out of the pits caught up and overtook me on the following lap, but this was temporary.

Now on lap 18, I got 6th again after an unexpected disconnection from someone up front and on the final lap, the Porsche that passed me a few laps earlier spun out, placing me in the top 5. I was also being dogged by a Supra driver that was only a few tenths behind but I was able to keep them at bay.

A nice end to this season but I could honestly make a compilation of all the craziness that took place in this race that I didn't even see firsthand. It was that bad.

Sardegna B with the Jag. Didn't manage to find too much pace with it, PB was a 19 flat, with 18.8 optimal. I don't really like the B layout, would have rather raced the A one.

Americas Slot 2, door #2 on a 251-point split. Qualifying was completely affected by guys fighting each other ahead. Only P14 on the grid when a lap close to my PB would have allowed me to qualify 3rd...

Race was quite frustrating as well. There was one guy working together with me and we were successfully catching the big group ahead. I then made a small mistake and allowed him an easy pass to avoid losing time, which worked well. But the guys behind weren't one bit as smart and I started to get divebombed left, right and center, specially by a Brazilian who went for moves and kept overshooting the corners. He was clean, left me space and all, nothing to complain about that, but he destroyed any chance of getting a slip. I think there was potential for top 5 or 6, but after being pushed wide by a Canadian, ended up in P12.

Americas Slot 3, door #19 in a 277-point lobby. My best qualy of the day, a 19.2, but in this stronger lobby, it was only enough for P12.

P10 after the start, everything was looking good until I was punted from behind and had one of the most frustrating 2 laps ever on GTS. I wanted to tuck back into the slip and stop losing positions but when you start getting eaten by a whole pack of cars, it's impossible. Everyone sees an opportunity and goes for a move, doesn't matter if they need to push you off the track to do so. I lost count of how many times I was hit, before a final punt in the last corner which left me hitting the wall and down in 19th and several seconds behind everyone else.

I didn't rage quit but drove the rest of that race so unfocused that I crashed on my own by hitting the outside wall on the flat-out left hander in sector 2. Was probably not even looking where I was going. That incident cost me P15 against a famous Youtuber that had spun earlier, so I finished P16.

Americas Slot 4, door #10 on a 260-point lobby. I honestly almost rage quit after qualifying. Got my first lap ruined by a guy going for a move into T1 then making a mess out of his lap. Why do people confuse qualy with a race... :banghead: Had to back off during the second lap and decided to go on my own for the final one, only to invalidate it myself by going wide in the final corner. So I couldn't get any laps in, P19 on the grid. :ouch:

No expectations at all from the back, but it turned out better than expected. In the first lap, made a move for P18 into T4, then gained places from guys making mistakes and two other guys pushing each other wide in the right-hander at the end of S2. Ended the first lap in P14.

Finally found a smart driver in a Corvette with whom we successfully worked together to escape from everyone behind. We kept gaining places from guys making mistakes or having incidents, picking up penalties, plus a few guys going for one-stoppers. Climbed all the way up to P8, with the Corvette losing my slip after many laps in it.

With no slip myself at any point during the race and having to push to recover from the back, my tyres were absolutely shot towards the end, had to defend a bit from the guy who ruined my qualy (and had actually started in the top 5). But he then made a mistake, so I then spent the last couple of laps with a comfortable gap behind and unable to close in on the Porsche ahead who clearly had much better tyres.

P8 at the end, up 11 positions from 19th on the grid, good damage limitation. 184 points weren't what I would have hoped from the round, but at least it was an enjoyable and clean race, and those points still improved my overall score. So considering the frustrating experiences from the previous slots and qualifying, I decided to call it a day.

Manu Round 10 @ Sardegna B--- Americas Slot #3 A/S lobby

Woah. What a race that was. After being taken out not once, but twice during the previous stints, I entered the third slot with a little more... apprehension let's say. I was mad as a tiger though, ready to make that Supra roar 💥

Qualified in 2nd place, over a second behind the Brazilian leader. It was a mix of skill and luck in my opinion. --->> More than half the grid scored times under 1:20, and the gaps between some some of each was only a few thousands.

The lights went out and away we went. I managed to stay where I was and not be used as a brake through the first corner this time. Even better, I was able to slipstream the guy ahead for about 2 laps and escape the pack a bit.
Can't remember what happened next being so concentrated (and forgot to save replay:dopey:), but I know I was third for pretty much the whole race until the very last lap, where a friend passed me in a Porsche. Tire wear was really kicking in at that point and I was losing multiple seconds off my usual pace. Ended in fourth place, a few hundreds away from the whole mid-pack. Phew! 🌞

Scored my second best of the season with 180+ pts. Couldn't be happier.

A whole lot of improvement this exhibition season, flowing from the low A's to almost A+ . Not quite ready for it though,as the step looks huge from here...

Most successful season so far, getting a few podiums and a lot more points than I thought :)
Currently undecided if I'm staying with Toyota or not. Time will tell. Been there for quite some time now.
Thanks to all! Seriously, :gtpflag: rocks! - Astrovex
