Looking at the Panthers schedule for next season. 3, maybe 4 wins at most? The bright side of another losing season is that it will most likely mean the end of Matt Rhule.

Last night saw the Green Bay Packers win 37-10 at home against NFC North foes, the Minnesota Vikings.

Browns at Steelers TONIGHT!

Let's begin the final Monday Night Football of the 2021 NFL season! The AFC North is in vogue tonight at one of my personal favorite NFL stadiums- Heinz Field in lovely Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While one of Ohio's two NFL teams made the Playoffs, the other Ohio NFL team will be looking forward to next season. The Cleveland Browns are dead last in the AFC North. Their opponents at 7-7-1 on the season are th \e Pittsburgh Steelers. Tonight will likely be the final Monday Night Football game for Ben Roethlisberger. Pittsburgh hopes Big Ben can make his final home game in Steelers colors. Find out tonight if whether the Steelers or Browns will win tonight's contest in the Steel City (or if a tie happens)!

--- BETTING INFO ---
FAVORED: PIT (-2.5)
OVER/UNDER: 42.5 points

Enjoy this final Monday Night Football game of the season!

Either Antonio Brown is suffering severely from CTE, which is entirely possible since he started showing odder behavior after being knocked out by Vontaze Burfict, or he's lost his damn mind. I know players quitting mid-game is nothing new, but it's still unusual.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won the final Monday Night Football game of the 2021 NFL season last night at home with a 24-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

If your team(s)' season is over, this week means very little except for playing for next season. If your team(s) either made the playoffs or still battling for playoff positioning, do your best to either make the postseason or sweeten your offer. Coming up are some of the many games in this final week of this first-ever 17-game season:

  • TEN Titans at HOU Texans
  • KC Chiefs at DEN Broncos
  • DAL Cowboys at PHI Eagles
  • GB Packers at DET Lions
  • WAS {Football Team} at NYG Giants
  • IND Colts at JAX Jaguars
  • NYJ Jets at BUF Bills
  • CAR Panthers at TB Buccaneers
  • LAC Chargers at OAK Raiders

Enjoy Week 18!

Washington will be announcing their new team nickname on February 2nd.

At least, they would be if they knew how to internet. Oops.

I think people are saying there aren't going to be any real solid QBs to be drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. I'm sure teams like the Jaguars, Lions, and Texans will be looking to find talent accordingly. All three of these teams need a lot of help. The Jags are probably likely going to get the top pick unless DET wins and JAX loses this week.

I also updated my previous post to update the playoffs scenario. So take a look there to see who all are in.

Basically, the top team in the draft will take either Thibodeaux and the other will take Hutchinson. Ideally, I would much rather the Lions take Thibodeaux over Hutchinson, even if Hutchinson played for Michigan. In a couple of local interviews, Hutchinson made it sound like he really didn't want to play for the Lions which I find a bit suspect since he grew up in Metro Detroit. Even though the Lions weren't good, if you lived and grew up in the area, you are a Lions fan if you like football.

The Lions second first-round pick from the Rams is going to be more intriguing and they'll likely be able to pick up a QB or a solid WR in that spot.

Here are the rumored nicknames for the Washington Football Team:

  • Admirals
  • Armada
  • Brigade
  • Commanders
  • Defenders
  • Presidents
  • Redhawks
  • Red Hogs
  • Sentinels

One problem I'd see with "Presidents" is that this is the nickname of the Washington and Jefferson College's athletics teams. Washington and Jefferson is an NCAA Division 3 school. If you want to stay close to not using potential names of Native American Indian mascots, Redhawks has been a decent alternative. The University of Louisiana-Monroe were the Indians before they became the Warhawks. Non-football schools like St. John's and Marquette changed their respective nicknames of Redmen and Warriors, to Red Storm and Golden Eagles. Most of the other nicknames the WFT have selected stay mostly consistent with the theme of Washington, D.C. I can't think of what name I'd choose. But I kind of feel it would come down to Presidents or Redhawks. I am guessing the new name could be the Redhawks. That is... unless they prefer being called the "Washington Football Team."

Which won't be an issue at all.

Meanwhile. Antonio Brown was released by the Bucs today for missing two doctors' appointments the team made for him to examine his injured ankle following his tirade in the 3rd quarter this past Sunday. AB was also spotted screenshotting his bank account info in a text message he posted to social media, so I really hope he finds the help he needs before he self-destructs. The NFL is probably a bit dangerous for him at the moment.

The regular season finale begins TODAY! We have today:

  • KC Chiefs at DEN Broncos
  • DAL Cowboys at PHI Eagles

Enjoy the Saturday action!

Whether or not your beloved teams are eliminated from postseason contention, still have a chance, or are already in the postseason; enjoy this final day of the 2021 regular season.

The lethargic 2021 season of NFL Football for the Houston Texans ends with a 28-25 defeat at home to the Tennessee Titans. The Texans surely made it interesting late being down 28-25 with about three minutes left in the game. Sadly, that score would hold. We finish our inaugural 17-week season with a 4-13 record.

Up next for the Houston Texans... the 2022 NFL Draft! The Texans need a LOT of fixing. I won't be following any further NFL action until the Super Bowl.

Congratulations to all winners from today, and all who made the playoffs! Better luck next season for all eliminated teams.

I can't believe the Colts got stomped by the lowly Jags. Philly got rid of the right QB

The Detroit Lions beat the #1 team in the NFC, who also happened to play its starters for half the game. Given this, I think it's flawless logic to believe that the Lions are truly the best team in the NFC.

They have beaten only 3 teams and 2 of them made the playoffs (while another they tied also advanced).

Speaking of ties... Chargers and Raiders almost had one had the game ended 2 seconds earlier (or the Chargers HC didn't call a timeout with 38 seconds left).

Should I not be happy the season is over for the Giants? It's a sad state of affairs. Judge and Gettlemen have to go imo, at the very least. We never should have grabbed D Jones; it was obvious they just wanted an Eli clone a la temperment, but I don't see him getting it done. Buuuut, if they have to do one thing, it's improve the O Line, a close 2nd would be the rush. Honestly I hope there's lots of fireworks this week.

Gettleman is gone. Judge might stay because the Giants are frightened to fire a coach again too quickly.

I think it is crazy that Mara doesn't wnat to fire Judge because they don't want to fire 3 coaches with in 2 years. His team lost its last 6 games. How do you call to goal line sneaks from your own goal line? He talks about culture but nobody can see the fruits of his "culture" just him. Gettleman did a horrible job and they should have never hired him. Just think they could have drafted Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson instead Saquon Barkley. Don't get me wrong Barkley is a good player but they shouldn't taken a qb when they had the chance. I think Jones is a good qb but I do feel he doesn't seem to have that qb spider sense. I hope they fire him today. I say that as a Jets fan

Well so far here is the sacked list.

Bears fire Nagy and GM Pace, no surprise
Vikings fire Zimmer and GM Speilman, not really surprised
Dolphins fire Flores which does surprise me a little.

@kjb Yep, called it.

How do the Dolphins justify firing Flores after the way they finished out the season? And what's that say about someone like Harbaugh, who's Ravens finished the year losing 6 straight, missing the playoffs and even finishing with a worse record than Miami?

If Zimmer doesn't find another head coaching job somewhere, he will make an excellent defensive coordinator. I loved having him there with the Bengals.

kjb
Franchise malpractice. He is going to be fired next year. Basically they are wasting a year of the franchise
Giants figured out how to be smart apparently. Judge was fired today.

Wishes and dreams to come true! First Gettlemen 'retires' and now:

Congratulations if your team(s) made the Playoffs! Here are the upcoming matches this weekend:

  • LV Raiders at CIN Bengals <<< CIN hasn't won a Playoff game since 1991
  • NE Patriots at BUF Bills
  • PHI Eagles at TB Buccaneers <<< TB: defending Champions
  • SF 49ers at DAL Cowboys
  • PIT Steelers at KC Chiefs
  • ARI Cardinals at LAR Rams

The fun begins this Saturday (my birthday!) with the Raiders at the Bengals. The Cincinnati Bengals haven't won a Playoff game since 1991, when they defeated the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans). Can you trust the only New York team that actually plays in the state of New York, when the Bills host the Patriots? The Buccaneers look to defend their championship, but the Philadelphia Eagles stand in their way. "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys, have been pretty baller this season. Can they parlay their success with a Super Bowl run? How will Ben Roetlisberger end the 2021 season when they play at the powerful Kansas City Chiefs? Which NFC West team is more "for real," the Cardinals or the Rams?

Enjoy the 2021 Playoffs, NFL fans!

[UPDATE] I Mistakenly said "SF Giants," and meant "SF 49ers." Oof! Changes made.

Happy Birthday! If you could do your fellow GTPlaneteer a favor and wish for a Bengals win before blowing out the candles, that would be great. ;)
