Edit: I think it were the Kelly Racing RECs that really jumbled things around. My memory really is fading from this series.

It's too hard to keep up with REC movements over the years. Think French's is still run by Tickford? I'm not sure.

Well, Virgin Australia was just sold to an American Invertment firm, by the name of Bain Capital. See what happens in 5 years' time.

Being part owner of the team I'd think Rusty French is part owner of all three REC's. Rod Nash and Sven Burchartz are the other two part owners.

I've given up on trying to work out the REC situation for now as it hurts my brain far too much

Well if they get permission from manufactures to use their designs without needing financial assistance we may just start seeing more of them.

Feels like that Toyota has been rumored to join for almost as long as the series has been around.

Hopefully Walkinshaw or someone can convince another manufacturer to come and play.

Going off of this article. Coulthard to Team Sydney? That's quite the downgrade for him.

Yeah, maybe I'm being bit a cynical. Coulthard would be a big improvement over Pither or Alex Davison. He could probably drag them up the grid a bit.
Just like Shane Van Gisbergen did with Tekno?

Could be but I think Tekno were in a better position back in those days. Seemed like they were basically the third T8 car. Aside from the Bathurst win, they haven't done much since SVG left.

Yeah, when we found out via Jack Lebrocq(?), the parts were two generations old.

I think there's a big difference trying to get Fabs to bring a car up and someone like Wil Davison helping to develop a car.

Fabs is particular about his car. When he was pretty much the #1 at BJR, he had a well sorted, vastly experienced team, with all the tools. Same with Wil Davison throughout his career(even at Erebus). I really don't know about Webbhead and company. Who are they getting shared info from? Are they going to go back to the days when he(Webb) was linked with DJR in the Mother's Falcon? Big question mark for Fabs.

Also adds to the Rick Kelly/Castrol combination looking elsewhere for Bathurst rumours.

It's weird to me that Rick appears to be splitting from Kelly Racing completely. Guess though that's just a result of Penrite (maybe) following Reynolds over.

Yep, very weird... and also reducing a great sponsor (and looking) Castrol liveried car to one event doesn't seem right. Maybe KR can't afford to pay him the big bucks that another team would. 100k for one race ain't bad if you can get it!

I don't think Tickford would really want to lease a REC so this looks like bad news for Holdsworth, and with Matt Stone giving up on the idea of a three car team for next season I doubt Supercars will want an odd number of cars.

Despite high interest in the two shelved Racing Entitlements Contracts currently in the possession of Supercars, Speecafe.com understands there is a reluctance from category management to sell either licence.

That’s because other teams are against diluting the dividends which each full-time entry receives from their Racing Entitlements Contract.

It is understood those Racing Entitlements Contracts are only being offered for lease.

That’s great news, I really enjoy the track. And considering I have family up there, it might have to become the new annual event for me in lieu of the Adelaide 500.

Larko, what a class act!

https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/12/1...ds-to-fan-reaction-on-his-supercars-tv-axing/

My wife was equally as devastated as I was with his axing, and when I told her the reason was he's perceived as being ''too technical'' she nearly hit the roof! She loves his segments because of his easy to understand explanations of the slightly deeper side of motorsport laced with a bit of the larrikin Larko humour. She is the exact type of borderline/casual fan that Supercars risk losing by their stupid decision making while supposedly trying to cater to that same exact type of fan as her. Go figure

They want a "less technical" broadcast. So they dump the guy that's able to explain the technical stuff in a way that the casual viewer can understand. And I don't think it's just the casual fans they are at risk of losing. It's the real hardcore ones as well.

Edit: Slade in at Cooldrive.

Exactly the same situation with my fiancé. She loved how easy he made the technical side to understand. I myself, wouldn’t be as in to Supercars as I currently am if the broadcast up until this point were as dumbed-down as the executives want it to be. The deeper understanding on the technical side helps so much when you’re watching. You know what exactly the commentators are talking about when a car is having issues, the effects tyre temperatures have on performance, etc.
