A possible backflip by Supercars???... but could it be too little too late? I hope not but fear it very well could be.

Thank you for your feedback regarding Mark Larkham’s departure from the commentary team.

We are sorry to the fans who are all very disappointed.

We’re overwhelmed by the support of Mark Larkham from our fans.

We have heard you and will come back once we have had the chance to discuss with Mark.

Sean Seamer is aware of the emails and calls we’ve received.

I will continue to communicate your concerns and support for Mark to management,

Thank You

Even though the response is fairly cut and paste. It is good to see them at least acknowledging this. Finally.

If I was Larko however, I would tell them to get stuffed.

''Qualifying will be split into two groups made up of alternate pit order, meaning one car per team will qualify in either session.''

But why?!?!?!? What was wrong with splitting the field on lap times ... and how will they pick the one car per team? If it's done on lap time one team mate could be severely hampered over the other by running in different groups if there's changing conditions. The track could be far more rubbered in, or have a dryer line from the previous session. Fast guys run with the fast guys and slower the guys run together... simple!

It's just more of the same chook lotto style organization :banghead:

Dunno, may just give the next driver a benefit for set up or be worse for either. Throw in the odd Red Flag and it truly messes up the field.

I like the split qualifying idea. Why not base it on pitlane order though? Feels like they are making it a lot more complicated then it needs to be.

I like split qualifying on these two short tracks as well. I just don't see any need to have something based on nothing in particular other than deliberately throwing curveballs at the field.

It should just be based off practice lap times. Fastest 12 and slowest 12. I don't understand why they feel the need to have one car from each team in each session.

And this is why I don't like it. Supercars risk falling into the category of fake racing when they're trying to deliberately manipulate things.... again!

Yeah, Reynolds looks to be commentating, as per the article I posted in the TCR thread. I don't know about his racing career.

Wow have ten years passed already! it seems like it was only last year that ten year deal was signed! Seriously I never thought it would last the whole ten, didn't expect it that soon though.
I actually expected him to retire before the ten year mark.

This is pretty much common knowledge,
Indications were that only Tickford supported the release of the extra REC, with at least one rival squad actively lobbying against expanding the grid.

Teams were opposed because an extra REC would reduce their share of Supercars’ annual profit.
But I find this part mind-blowingly stupid and selfish by those that opposed it (I knew this was proposed but only just learned it had failed),
Tickford had proposed running Randle as a permanent wildcard without a REC and without earning revenue, but that too was rejected
So now we as fans miss out on the possibility of this,
The word was that Castrol would shift its backing to Randle from Kelly Racing. As part of the package, retired full-timer and KR co-owner Rick Kelly would partner Randle in the Bathurst 1000.

I fail to see a downside*

*except for an uneven number of cars.... but with Blanchard's car being by itself at the tail end of pit lane I fail to see any real advantage to that car (they just have to halve the garage).

..... and all the best to Lee for the future.

Yeah, just announced that Randle is back with Tickford on a multiyear deal. Weird though that they haven't mentioned anything in regards to Holdsworth's future.
I just read about that as well, and Holdsworth doesn't have a future without his own sponsorship so unfortunately there isn't really anything to report. A possible co-drive in Supercars and a stint in TCR or TA2 is probably about the best he can hope for.
Going to take a punt as well. That if they can't get a fourth car going next year, Randle might end up taking Courtney's spot when his contract is up.
Not too sure about that. If they get the fourth car REC next year there'll be no need for Courtney to go (and that will be Adderton's decision). They can run the team they hoped to have running for 2021 (Waters, Le Brocq, Courtney and Randle).

I'm only just going off of Supercars reluctance (and the other teams) to release any more REC's at the moment. Hopefully that changes with Gen 3.

I hope so to. They've got interest in as many 4 REC's now and there's a possibility of even more with the Super 2 cars set to be more expensive to run than the Gen 3 cars (unless they switch at the same time).

And I still think the 3rd Tickford REC will be $$Adderton's$$ choice... but I would like to see Randle in with Castrol backing.

Edit: These are the other two REC's (possibly for Gen 3) other than the ones Tickford and MSR want; https://autoaction.com.au/2020/12/22/eggleston-considers-supercars-main-game

Would have to imagine that Super2 will switch over to the new regs at the same time the main series does. Given the cost difference. It doesn't make much sense otherwise. Then again with some of the decisions they've made in the past. You never know.

All of the above, is why I'm writing off 2021, as I did 2020. I'll be full steam ahead for Gen3, at Newcastle.

I must admit I'm not really excited for any Australian motorsport at all for 2021. No Adelaide Supercars race, no TCR in SA, no S5000 in SA and I don't think we even get TCM

I'm also not a fan of having two Bathurst meetings. It kind of takes away the 'being special' aspect for me, kind of like how increasing the top ten shootouts to top fifteen made the shootouts less special this year.

I get it about not having a hometown race. There are still the SMP races for me, but with borders locked to and out of Sydney and this vaccine trial just to begin, I'm still staying home.

Nothing beats going to the track, but I'm fine, as long as these tv packages/camera work are good. ARG get my support. V8s need to get their ish together.

Don’t forget the Asian Le Mans Series. While it’s understandable that no teams could get to Australia during the current situation, it doesn’t mean it hurts any less. It was amazing to finally see some prototype cars in real life earlier in the year.
