At least they're not stopping like they used to with the stupid parity trigger.

Tim Edwards;

“We’ve seen small differences between the cars at different tracks. That’s where we go digging deeper.

“I won’t divulge what we’ve seen but we see differences every now and then and say, ‘OK, let’s go down that path and explore’.”

The difference I think I've been noticing hasn't been top end per se, because it seems pretty even when the cars run by themselves (or side by side), but the Camaro seems to be able to suck up to the back of the Mustang in the slipstream really, really well and it doesn't seem to work at all the other way round.

Any thoughts?
Yeah that's the most noticeable difference between the two cars. But its certainly been way better this year, and i like the fact that they're still working on it. It's credit to Tim Edwards and his team with the big step forward this year.

I want to say as well, Larko did a brilliant segment just before about the finals system and to be honest it has changed my mind about it. It's not like NASCAR's desperation full points reset, there are bonuses for those who finished the regular season on top and that goes all the way through to the final round.

100% agreement from me.

Just a heads up here, Larko's wrong.

NASCAR isn't a full points reset either. Playoff points earnt during the season carry all the way through to final round. There's a really good description here. I've been following NASCAR since long before 'The Chase' and it still amazes me how little the Supercars commentators know about it. I also learnt a lot about pit strategies and have watched some awesomely stupid pit calls by Supercars teams in total amazement for years

Points reset between each round – but not playoff points.

  • At the start of each playoff round, each remaining driver’s points are reset, wiping the slate clean for the next round.
  • However, each driver’s playoff points are re-added for each round. This means a driver’s regular-season and early-playoff performance can help prevent an early elimination by providing a nest egg of points.
  • Suppose a driver won the regular-season championship (15 playoff points), four races (5 playoff points each, for 20 playoff points), and five stages (1 playoff point each, for 5 playoff points) — that’s a total of 40 points that the driver can use to their benefit in each round of the playoffs. If all drivers’ points are reset to 2,000, this driver’s points would be reset to 2,040 (2,000 points plus their 40 playoff points).
  • Playoff points are off the table when the Championship 4 round is set — the winner takes all.

Third big near miss of the weekend, after Shae Davies truck almost found itself in the catchfence, and Matt Mingays fuel cell was launched from the car, Ruben Goddalls Super 2 car almost finds itself outside of the track at turn 4.

Really nasty hit, but with the way he was trying to avoid the wall, god knows what he could've hit if he did avoid the wall.

I don't know, the fact Joey Logano championship win can be repeated here in Supercars format shows how funadmantelly flawed it still is (especially since win and your in is a thing for Surfers Paradise and Sandown)

And the fact is, all these tweaks are just to make it less bad, its never an improvement of not having it. Just "could be worse". Which I don't think is good enough. I think I'll only ever watch Bathurst from this point onward unless by some miracle they realise how terrible this is and drop it

Even though I think the decision to not replace practice 3 with a re run of qualifying is a bit ridiculous, I am really excited to see what that this jumbled field brings today. Good to some guys get their first shootout experience.

Shame its quiet in here, has been a fairly eventful weekend.

Edit: more chaos in the first 15 laps of this then there has been in the last few rounds combined

Yeah, today’s race has been fun. Pretty bummed to not be there now (first time not being there since 2003).

Triple 8 has spoiled a nail biting end to the race with that unsafe release though.

Pretty incredible, Chaz not letting Feeney go, Feeney just absolutely bombing it up the inside.

Brown looking like he's going to take the spoils.

Gotta love the victim blaming from Skaife.
I see where he's coming from though, Mostert should've been able to walk it home once Feeney's first penalty happened.

Doesn't excuse Feeney's completely unrealistic dive-bomb, but I get what Skaife was saying, its stuff like that that doesn't win championships.

What a race to end the year on, just when it seemed to settle down, it just blows up again.

Terrible TV direction though, Davison comes so close to binning it at turn 8, yet we cut to a shot of whoever it was in the garage.

Skaife and Crompton were clueless to how Mostert got back up the inside, but we couldn't see it.

For sure, Mostert should have let him go. I do wonder if he was concerned about Feeney’s pace ( edit: confirmed by Mostert’s post race interview)

It’s just annoying though, we’ve seen how commentator’s can create a narrative (mainly in F1) and how that discourse plays out.

First race was pretty meh, imo. Second one was possibly the best of the year, or at least up there. Just super frustrating what happened with Chaz. He maybe should have let Broc just go but on the other hand I don't know why Broc was being as super aggressive as he was.

Quiet achiever of the year goes to Thomas Randle. Fifth in the championship in the end? If Tickford can start next year off how they ended this one. They might be able to put up a good challenge the T8 machine.

Well that was certainly an eventful season ender. Congratulations to Will Brown on a well earned championship win. Commiserations to Mozzie for what should've been a race win, but **** happens, and a lot of **** happened in that race.

When are they going to put the NASCAR style safer barrier at turn 8. There's a way to improve the safety for the drivers that could put an end to these concussions... USE IT!

... and Jamie doesn't do himself any favours putting conspiracy theories into 'the keyboard warriors' heads. It makes them sound guilty*. :dunce:

* and just sound guilty, I don't think for one second that Broc would intentionally take someone out. Edit: I would never have even thought of it being done deliberately until Jamie said it.
