I know that in the Premier League they go by number of tickets sold, but tickets sold and number of people/fans in the stadium can differ as you can by a ticket for the match and not turn up to watch it, for whatever reason.

Switzerland 1-0 Cameroon
Uruguay 0-0 South Korea
Portugal 3-2 Ghana
Brazil 2-0 Serbia

Crazy second half between Portugal and Ghana after a goalless first half, Ronaldo put Portugal ahead with a penalty but Andre Ayew equalized soon after, Joao Felix and Rafa Leao scored in quick succession before Burkari scored late for Ghana for a nervy finish for the Portuguese, big mishap from Costa in the Portugal goal in added time almost lead to an incredible finish to the game but Portugal hung on.

Another goalless first half in the game between Brazil and Serbia but Brazil came alive in the second half with Richarlison scoring both, the second goal was easily the goal of the tournament so far with a beautiful side volley. Serbia made it tough at times but they didn't have a shot on target, Embolo scored the only goal of the game for Switzerland, Uruguay-South Korea cancelled each other out but it was a game short on quality.

Cristiano Ronaldo is now the only male player to score in five World Cups.

1st round of group-stage has been completed with Spain having the best performance.
With a devastating attack scoring 7 out of 7 shots on target, almost 1000 passes completed with a success rate of 94%, huge possession and no chances allowed for their opponents Costa Rica.
In one of, what has to be, amongst the most dominant performances in the history of the world cups.

I have the Wales v Iran game on in the background, and it's only the 2nd game I've seen in the tournament, the only other one being England v Iran... so I'm technically more of an Iran fan this time :ill:

Iran seem to be running Wales ragged, and I saw the disallowed goal... it was almost harder to not score a legitimate goal than how they managed to stuff it up. Iran have just hit the post twice in the same move, and Wales are looking bereft of ideas.

Iran scored two goals in stoppage time after Wales had their Goalkeeper sent off and Wales also spent the entire 90+ minutes passing to Iranian players anyway.

Ooft. A sore one for Wales... they were absolutely played off the pitch by Iran, could have been 3 or 4-0 easily.

This added time thing is a bit silly now though. Iran scored in time added on, and then scored again in the time added on to the time added on due to the first goal...

...and as for Wayne Henne-BruceLee... deary me :ouch:

Iran were the better side by a country mile, sad for Wales though.

Not really. It's highlighting just how much pathetic time-wasting actually happens in this sport and is making it not worth it any more for the players. This sport has too many pathetic actions in it as is, and a few crackdowns will only improve the game. Diving and faked injuries just need to be ignored/punished more and it will soon be stamped out. This extra injury time will suck early on until the players get used to it and it will reduce when they realise they don't want o paly to the 112th minute.

Fantastic game (judging by the highlights replay). Sadly compromised by the political situation is Iran. The internet is flooded with praise ... and condemnation ... from Iranians for this team. Hard to know what to think.

Vintage England performance - complacent, defensive, unadventurous and uninspired.

Somebody should explain to the players that you have to actually kick the ball forwards in order to score goals. 🙄

No attempt to bring in Phil Foden in the second half to actually try & win the game. Content with a draw and the single point. 🥱

Wales 0-2 Iran
Qatar 1-3 Senegal
Netherlands 1-1 Ecuador
England 0-0 USA

Tough day for the home nations with both putting in dire performances, Starting with Wales who were awful and kept giving the ball away, so many players had an off day and Iran deservedly won but the goals came late with Cheshmi in the 98th minute and Rezaeian in the 101st minute, Wayne Hennesey saw red for Wales after a bad lunge on Taremi, bad day for Wales.

After the impressive and enterprising performance over Iran in the first game it was a reality check for England, it was also back to the dismal summer nights in the Nations League too, lacked ideas and uninspired plus Southgate somehow left Phil Foden on the bench, Maguire was England's best player which says a lot, England still top of the group though and in a good position, Wales need to beat England by four in the last group game.

Qatar are the first team out of the competition after their defeat, Dia, Diedhou and Diang with the goals for Senegal and Muntari with Qatar's goal, Gakpo got Netherlands goal and Enner Valencia equalized for Ecuador to become the top scorer with three. Netherlands and Ecuador are both on four points with Senegal on three.

First WC Finals win for Morocco since 1998, which incidentally was the last WC Finals game Scotland ever played...

Canada loses to Croatia 4-1 and has been eliminated from advancing. Morocco is in a really good position now as they only need a draw to advance.

Tunisia 0-1 Australia
Poland 2-0 Saudi Arabia
France 2-1 Denmark
Argentina 2-0 Mexico
Japan 0-1 Costa Rica
Belgium 0-2 Morocco
Croatia 4-1 Canada
Spain 1-1 Germany

Canada follow Qatar out of the tournament after that big defeat, two losses from two means they are out, Kramaric with two for Croatia, Belgium were pretty woeful against Morocco who deserved the win, Belgium weren't great against Canada either so they haven't really turned up yet.

Spain Germany just finished and it was a good game, Morata with Spain's goal and Fullkrug with the German's equalizer which was deserved, point gives Germany further hope after Costa Rica perhaps surprisingly beat Japan earlier.

Forgot to do a roundup for yesterday, but basically we saw goals from the world's best with Lewandowski, Mbappe and Messi all scoring.

Cameroon 3-3 Serbia
South Korea 2-3 Ghana
Brazil 1-0 Switzerland
Portugal 2-0 Uruguay

Two great games earlier, Cameroon came back from 1-3 down to draw, Ghana were 0-2 up thanks to Salisu and Kudos but Cho Gue-Sung scored with two headers in three minutes before Kudos got his second and Ghana's third to win the game.

Casemiro scored the goal of the tournament so far in an otherwise drab contest, Bruno Fernandes scored twice for Portugal including a late penalty, both Brazil and Portugal are through to the last 16 with those wins.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the schedule for the final group games.

Tuesday.
Ecuador v Senegal (3pm)
Netherlands v Qatar (3pm)
England v Wales (7pm)
Iran v USA (7pm)

Wednesday.
Poland v Argentina (7pm)
Saudi Arabia v Mexico (7pm)
Australia v Denmark (3pm)
Tunisia v France (3pm)

Thursday.
Costa Rica v Germany (7pm)
Japan v Spain (7pm)
Canada v Morocco (3pm)
Croatia v Belgium (3pm)

Friday.
Cameroon v Brazil (7pm)
Serbia v Switzerland (7pm)
Ghana v Uruguay (3pm)
South Korea v Portugal (3pm)

No more 10am kick offs, still plenty to be decided in most of the matches, Last 16 starts on Saturday.

US advances with the 1-0 win today over Iran.
England, Senegal and the Netherlands also emerge victorious today.

Saturday: Netherlands v. USA
Sunday: England v. Senegal

The US squad is so poorly coached. They could've easily gotten an insurance goal but they played defense for the entire second half. And even then Iran had a bunch of opportunities.
