Yup, they drive basically like me too. Sometimes when grinding that 700pp race, I would neglect to pay attention to the weather and find myself spinning like crazy once the rain kicks in.

I must either be quite ahead or behind, what happened? Did something happen with the Glickenhaus car while it was pitting?
Spun out due to rain at the Porsche Curves. Narrowly avoided going into a barrier, then narrowly avoided a Ferrari that spun out and was going backwards at considerable speed.

Ah, gotcha. Cheers.

And that rain is mighty significant now!

It was one of the first cars to encounter La Manche de Porsche Curves. As it span across the track an LM GTE Ferrari behind it also caught the river and wiped out at a trillion mph - between the 709 and the barriers...

Yeah, the Ferraris (and any sane team) have to go for wets now. At minimum the bottom half of Mulsanne and the Porsche curves are drenched, which are probably not the best places to be running slicks on a wet road.

they are aimed at bringing the field together. As Alex Brundle said: This new approach to bring all 3 safety cars into a single merged queue will avoid cars gaining and losing minutes, and bring the field closer together, rather like IMSA (Daytona, Sebring) and unlike traditional Le Mans.

Opinions are divided about whether this is good or bad.

Given that's there's 1 safety car for each of the 3 sectors, I feel like a good compromise would be for the safety car period to be disengaged at the "next sector" once all the cars are gathered up, rather than at the beginning of the next lap. Given the length of La Sarthe, this current method is pretty crap.

My Motor Trend + subscription is paying for itself today. Apparently “endurance racing” means 24 hours of everyone driving like it’s the last lap of a green/white/checkers race at Charlotte.

I'm slightly annoyed, did they put out the safety car just because it was raining? I mean you don't even need to change to wet tires if the SC pops out immediately whenever it starts to get wet and stays out there until the track dries.
Thats not racing.

Why even have the race at this point? Are they going to run the safety car all night long so the cars don't have to worry about using their headlights too?

Fun fact: I shut my stream down right after that post.

Anything else?

we aren't even 4 hours in. Most of the field is still fine. It'll settle down for the long haul.

I mean, I'm in agreement. What did I miss to create the safety car? Just some slip and slide? It's super lame, we don't need to baby them through. I might've missed something but this is not racing.

There were active slow zones and track repairs going on when the rain shower hit and multiple cars crashed at once. Instead of trying to run with slow zone and monsoon zones they went safety car.
