TEXANS ARE IN!!! The Houston Texans won 23-19 at the Indianapolis Colts . Two key moments to this game was CJ Stroud throwing a touchdown pass on the first play of their first drive. Also, there was Indianapolis dropping what was a sure 4th and 1 conversion late. DeMeco Ryans and CJ Stroud now will see if they'll enter the Playoffs as a Wild Card or as the 2023 AFC South Champions. Now, if you'll excuse me... (happy dance!)

Congratulations to all other winners from this week!

Absolutely incredible!. Was up till 6am here as I couldn't sleep after watching that. No way in hell did I expect the playoffs this year. Future is bright with CJ. Under the lights he stood up and delivered.

I feel dirty saying this but I'm rooting for the Titans later!

I was looking back at my past posts to this thread, and I said that I'd call the Texans as the "Turnaround Texans" if they did well. Well, they're 10-7 this season after going 3-14-1 last season, so what does that tell you? Even I had the Texans going 7-10 and perhaps not making the playoffs until 2024 or 2025. My... how things change! As of the time of this post, we might be the AFC South Champions. My prediction of 7-10 can be flip-flopped, making us 10-7 instead of 7-10.

And as usual, DeMeco Ryans gave another goosebumps-inducing victory speech after last night's win. Marc Vandemeer (radio voice of the Houston Texans) even called Indianapolis as what I call it often times- the Texans' House of Horrors. He even said something about "the curse being lifted," since we usually stumble playing the Colts in Indianapolis. How is this for a nice phrase from somethinh I heard this morning- "Stroud Proud?" All around awesomeness for the Houston Texans after last night's win.

As for everybody else, if your beloved team(s) have one last chance to make the playoffs, make the most of today. If already in the playoffs, you hopefully can enhance the offer.

Enjoy today's action!

With the Titans win, that means the Bills and Steelers are in?

People... I don't know what to think right now. Houston Texans- 2023 AFC South Champions! I didn't even see the JAX at TEN game because I was asleep. I read a stat saying that the Houston Texans are the first team in NFL history to win their division with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. We went from 3-13-1 in 2022 and dead last in the AFC South, to 10-7 and winning the AFC South in 2023. What a turnaround! I even called the 2023 Texans as the "Turnaround Texans" on their X/Twitter.

No matter what good and bad your team(s) go through, you keep believing and hoping for a great season. Anything can happen. It takes hard work (and sometimes some luck) to have a successful season. I'm absolutely proud of my Houston Texans in 2023. I've followed this team every year since first watching football regularly in 2002 (the same year the Texans joined the NFL). Never before have I seen such a Texans team with so much heart and hustle even for a "rebuilding" team. Wins weren't pretty, but we still win. This may be one of the most improbable seasons in team history for the Texans.

The Houston Texans will host the Cleveland Browns in the Playoffs. Hopefully your favorite team(s) also made the Playoffs after today's results.

You had one job Washington, one job! Oh well, looks like the Lions will play the Packers in the first round.
Nah, it was always going to happen (as soon as Rams made the playoffs anyway.)

I was rooting for Washington more than I have in a long time. No bigs, my Browns V Lions Super Bowl hopes are still alive

First time the Panthers have been shutout since 2002
And after going 21yrs between being shutout, it only took them 7 days to get shutout again...

I mean, next year has to better, right?

Probably.

I was on X earlier today and a lot of Jets fans were upset that they won because it prevented them from going higher in the draft and it allowed the Pats to get their franchise QB. I thought that was dumb I actually wanted them to win. If this was Belicheck's last game I was hoping he would go out with an L. Besides I don't trust the Jets with high draft picks that hasn't worked out to well for them😁

Tua totally sucks. I hope they trade him for Justin Fields or something. I mean Tua is just trash in crunch time. He’s so bad.

Wild Card weekend:

Saturday - Browns @ Texans, Dolphins @ Swifties

Sunday - my Steelers @ Bills, Packers @ Cowboys, Rams @ Lions

Monday - Eagles @ Bucs

So it looks like the Lions are playing the Rams because the NFL scriptwriters command it. I will say nice things about the Packers if they beat the Cowgirls though.

I also can't wait to see Baker absolutely roll Matt Patricia's sorry ass defense.

But I think the Browns, Dolphins, Bills, Cowboys, Lions, and Bucs win.

Dolphins win in an icebox game against the Chiefs? I don't see it.

True, I guess it is supposed to be pretty cold this weekend. But the Chiefs' receivers can't even catch a cold, I'll be curious to see how they manage.

My prediction?

Browns, Swifties, Bills, Cowgirls (it pains me to even say it), Lions (barely, really tough call) and I bet either CFP championship contender could be the Eagles right now

So I'll take the Bucs for that one.

Welcome to the NFL Postseason! If your team(s) made it this far, congratulations! The teams in the Playoffs have a chance to go to the Super Bowl to become Champions and hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Who will become Champions of the 2023 NFL Season?

Let me explain how the Playoffs work. You lose- your season is over, so WIN OR GO HOME at this level. There is no 3rd Place Game, we have no series... it's a one-shot deal. Every team you face at this level will give their best effort. So be ready for whatever teams throw at you. Get it together and survive, and the winning team is Champ.

On the other end of the spectrum, best of luck with their new teams to all the coaches and the personnel who got fired from Black Monday or afterwards. I know full well about a coaching carousel. Remember when my Texans went through about four coaches between 2020-2022? We finally got it right here in Houston with DeMeco Ryans. If my team eventually got it right on the coaching side, I'm sure you all will be fine also.

That's all from me. Let's look back at the regular season or look ahead to the postseason.

Seattle Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll, stepped down as coach of the Seahawks to take on an advisory role. The 72-year old has served as Seahawks' coach for 14 seasons. That makes it another coaching vacancy to be filled.

THIS JUST IN...

Bill Belechick is leaving the New England Patriots after 24 seasons. Wow... this "End of an Era" thing is impacting college and pro football! Love or loathe Bill Belechick, this guy has been one of the greatest-ever coaches in the NFL. Most of his damage done with Tom Brady as his star quarterback. I wish Bill Belechick well in his time as the Patriots' head coach.

I've requested Monday 12th February off from work so I can watch the Super Bowl live 🏈

The last few years I've watched it on catch-up after having spent the following day avoiding spoilers. But even if one is able to avoid spoilers, it's not the same as watching it live - and watching it live may require a few late-night beverages to be had, hence a day off might be in order.

My old boss was great as he knew I watched the Super Bowl and didn't expect to see me until after lunch on the following Monday. My current boss is not quite so understanding😒

I've done this a few times, but more often than not i still end up just nodding off at around the half time break because it's usually 2 - 2.30am by then.

But it's easier now i work from home as i can more effectively burn the candle at both ends as far as slow starts to Monday mornings go. 👍

Question to our US members: Do teams/fans really care that much about winning their division and/or conference? - other than it's gets them into the post-seasonal play offs.

The way it's always been framed to someone outside of the US, who watches the little coverage we get on UK free-to-air channels, is that it's all a build up to the superbowl and that's all that really matters.

You can't compare it to the British football (soccer) league, as that has four (and more really) sequential leagues where the top and bottom teams can be promoted/relegated at the end of the season and the teams/fans tend to fixate more on that. There is the FA Cup in which the same teams compete but, other than for scheduling, operates as a totally separate entitity to the leagues and that's purely a knock out competion, in a similar but much larger vein to the NFL post-season. So comparison to us is difficult.

It depends. Lions fans are overly hyped and excited that we won the division, and I'm one of the people that who's over the moon because of it. Are 49ers fans excited about winning the division? Eh probably not.

Patriots Nation, meet your new head coach- Jerod Mayo. I know very little about Mayo, but he'll be the new head coach of the New England Patriots according to reports.
