2024 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar ChampionshipSports Cars

So maybe they've figured out a way to keep the deck lids attached now.
Y'know, considering that teams pedigree, I kind of expected more from them than they've shown this year so far? Maybe it's just me.

Were you expecting immediate wins? 😬 😄
From what we've heard from those inside Ford Performance was that the car was being worked on all the way up until it's very first race. It had only done wind tunnel and track testing. However, what was new was complete dirty turbulent air. It never ran on track with 20 other cars. They simply didn't have the time to come up with every scenario to test.
Remember that the GT40 was a failure when it came out before it was turned into the beautiful majestic creature it is known as today.

Wasn't expecting wins or even really close to the front but it's certainly not Multimatic's first rodeo. Season's early, of course.

I am watching the Laguna Seca race right now. I started watching around 50 minutes left in the race, due to some bad weather here in Houston. So I missed a lot of the action prior to this mark. Classic Laguna Seca madness here.

Had a great time at Laguna Seca

Aaand another instance of a Penske Porsche GTP getting tangled up with a GTD car for no reason.

#6 Car was given a drive-through penalty.

Edit: #4 Corvette gets itself spun out of the GTD lead, and the #85 JDC Porsche has spun, causing a traffic jam.

It's amazing that the #14 Lexus is still running. It's clearly quite wounded, and the steering wheel if off-center as well.

Edit: The #31 Cadillac spins the #5 Mustang Sampiling Porsche into the wall. Bruni out of the car.

Edit 2: I acknowledge that this downtown track is short and tight, but the level of driving today in both classes hasn't been great.

Edit 3: After a nearly two year drought, the #10 WTR Acura takes the win in GTP and overall! The #77 AO Racing GT3Rexy gets back-to-back victories in GTD Pro!

Now, back to Germany.

(Richard) Westbrook said: “To be honest, the track is not suitable for racing with prototypes in the top GTP class. It was like being in a bumper car. The damage to the vehicles worsened lap by lap. It was unacceptable – simply unacceptable. I found it frustrating. I have such fond memories of the times we competed on the beautiful Belle Isle in Detroit.”

Yeah, I don't think that track was even appropriate for an MX-5 series. I can't believe they put a field of prototypes and GT cars on that nightmare.

***Chip Ganassi, making a rare Friday appearance in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship paddock amid a NTT IndyCar Series race this weekend, told Sportscar365 that he’s “optimistic” of remaining in the GTP class next year. Ganassi denied that he was at Watkins Glen for meetings. Sportscar365 believes that CGR has not yet been ruled out to run one of the Acura ARX-06 cars next year.

***It’s widely believed that Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti is poised to take over CGR’s Cadillac effort with a two-car operation next year, in what’s likely to result in a significant driver shakeup, with Ricky and Jordan Taylor understood to be on long-term Acura contracts and Louis Deletraz and Filipe Albuquerque tied to WTRAndretti.

How does this happen? Wayne Taylor gets both of his sons back together for 1 season then will have to compete against both of them next year when they get moved to CGR or MSR.

Strange but given Andretti's Cadillac F1 effort and CGR's Honda tie up in Indycar with Honda, it makes sense.

That would also mean one of two things:

- A reunion between Wayne Taylor and Max Angelli (since he's with Dallara)

or

- A full Andretti take over of the WTR effort.

Remember Herta getting a few drives this year in said car...

if the streams on imsa tv don't work for you too delete all imsa.com cookies and then try it again.
(they change something on their backend/infrasturcture and that broke the player for the streams)

I don't see him in an Acura seat period considering its all he's ever wrecked lately.
Perhaps GM will move him to Europe to help fill in the 2nd Works Cadillac Hypercar? That's the only thing that would really make sense imo.

That 2 car team will most likely be run by JOTA if the rumors are true. The way the announcement is worded it seems like he is done with Cadillac too.

Is there any live coverage of the IMSA race in the UK? I'm sure Daytona was shown live on the IMSA website in the UK, but it doesn't look like WG will be...
