2024 NFL Season

It is interesting the difference a year makes. Last year they were talking up Bobby Slowik as the next hot coach. Maybe last year Stroud was so good that Slowik's playcalling was overlooked? I understand they have had some injury issues but good coaches figure out ways around it. Has Slowik let last year go to his head? To me the best coaches adjust to what their players do best instead of trying to fit them into their system. @JohnBM01 have you noticed a difference in his playcalling? I ask because don't watch them much and I am genuinely curious to know if there is a difference between this year and last year

I never really paid attention much to how the play calling is last year compared to now. All I know is that if CJ Stroud is on the field, he'll give the Texans the best chance to win. One complaint fans have is they think Bobby Slowik can be too passive or not trigger-happy. You know... settling for field goals than go for touchdowns. You could even say lacking a killer instinct. Last year is looking more like an overnight success, and 2024 is seeming like midnight struck on the Texans. If we took down the Packers and Lions, we'd be 8-2 and up the AFC standings. Instead, we're 6-4. Heck, we could have been 9-1 if we didn't have that clunker at Blitz24 and kjb's Jets on Halloween.

The Houston Texans are not an S-Tier team... yet. They got to learn to execute better all around to really be taken seriously as a Super Bowl contender. They are A-Tier at best or B-Tier at worst. We got to improve a lot. On the YouTube channels devoted to the Texans, I said if we lose at the Cowboys on Monday Night Football next week, I "demand" coaching changes. Still a ways to go, but this team can be much better even with this recent funk they've been in.

It is time to welcome Week 11 of the 2024 National Football League season. Allow me to take a look at some of the many games coming up...


* The NFC East is in vogue this Thursday night for Thursday Night Football. It's the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Washington Commanders.

* Chicago fired their offensive coordinator. Will it help the Bears defeat the visiting Green Bay Packers this Sunday?

* After fans and media outlets 🤬 on my Texans blowing a 23-7 lead and failing, Joey D's Detroit Lions will face a much easier AFC South team in Detroit- the Jacksonville Jaguars.

* Omnis' Miami Dolphins got a nice win at the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night. Now the Dolphins will see a lot of black and silver on the other side of the field, when the Las Vegas Raiders visit Miami.

* Blitz24 and kjb will see their New York Jets welcome and host the Indianapolis Colts.

* Fezzik's Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Baltimore Ravens in lovely Pittsburgh.

* Kansas City has been tested nine times, and they passed all nine tests. Can the Buffalo Bills finally down the almighty Kansas City Chiefs this season when they host the Chiefs?

* Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Bengals will head from the Midwest to the West Coast and take on the Los Angeles Chargers for Sunday Night Football.

* Texas pride is on the line on Monday Night Football. The floundering Houston Texans will visit the even more floundering Dallas Cowboys. Somebody's season is going to be saved after this match as both teams need a win.


* BYE WEEK: NYG Giants, ARI Cardinals, TB Buccaneers, CAR Panthers

• CHI fires OC, Shane Waldron; replaced by Thomas Brown
• DAL QB, Dak Prescott, will require season-ending surgery (hamstring)

It was 26-18 last night as the Philadelphia Eagles won at home over the Washington Commanders. The Eagles improve to 8-2, and the Commanders fall to 7-4. They are the only two teams with winning records in the NFC East (DAL 3-6 and NYG 2-8).

It’s never easy but the Steelers just about hold off the Ravens in the battle of the AFC North.

Also, I know it was only against the Jags but those Lions are just scary good.

Jets almost won and then they remembered they were the Jets. Up by 2 on their 2nd to last drive with 2 timeouts left, they call one timeout because they couldn't decide what to do on 4th down (they ultimately kicked a FG to go up 5), then they gave up 70 yards in less than 2 minutes allowing a TD (plus burning their final timeout on a 2nd and goal situation for the Colts). On their final drive, Rodgers throws a backwards pass and then acts with no urgency as they lose 13 yards and 15 seconds. Ultimately he gets sacked to end the game. Ullbrich is not a HC, Gardner should be traded before the 2025 draft and Aaron Rodgers should be cut at the end of this year regardless of result.

DOWN GOES KANSAS CITY!

The Chiefs were finally bested. All it took was a 30-21 victory by Buffalo at home to sink the Chiefs. Any would-be perfection attempt by the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs were halted by the Buffalo Bills. Let's face it, though. The Chiefs seemed very vulnerable despite their incredible run. Therefore, something like this seemed inevitable.


All congratulations to Buffalo Bills and all other winners this week up to and beyond the time of this post!

I saw some of the Sunday Night game between the Cincinnati Bengals at the Los Angeles Chargers. I didn't see a lot of the second half, but I was feeling good about the Bengals... until the Chargers denied the cats from Cincinnati. The "next gen stats" say the Bengals now have a 10% chance of making the Playoffs with this latest loss. Sorry, Bengals Nation.

After the Minnesota Vikings took down the Tennessee Titans recently in Nashville, I saw a graphic from the Vikings' Facebook fan page that they defeated all four AFC South teams this season- including my Texans. Vikes are no joke.

Texans at Cowboys TONIGHT!

Two teams going in two different directions. Both teams need wins. Texas pride is on the line. Let's set this one up proper.

Let me hype this one up as a native Houstonian...

Houston hates Dallas. Dallas hates Houston. The Dallas Cowboys have long been heralded as "America's Team" with their many great teams that won it all. Even the (then) Houston Oilers) always had a problem with those Cowboys in the DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth). Since the Oilers became today's Tennessee Titans, Houston was devoid an NFL franchise. That all changed in 2002 when the Houston Texans joined the NFL. While the Texans lack the history and appeal of the Oilers, they still put Houston on the map and a passion for taking down the Cowboys (as well as the Titans). Even the Texans' historic first win in their first-ever game back in 2002 was a 19-10 victory at home against Dallas.

History, however, has been none too kind for the Houston Texans. The Texans are 5-10 all-time on Monday Night Football, and they have never defeated Dallas in Dallas (0-3 all-time) in regular season games. This is the Texans' first Monday Night game since 2019. As we play our 16th MNF game, Dallas will play their 86th or 87th- 2nd only to Miami (89 MNF games for MIA). Dallas has a handful of injuries including a different QB other than Dak Prescott. They also have been winless at home this season- 0-4 at home.

Throw out the record books in a rivalry game, but both teams need a win. A win for the Texans will help regain their confidence and would help them to regain the trust of those who believe the Texans can still be an AFC threat. A win also proves Houston being the better NFL team in Texas. A win for the Cowboys means what little hope they have of making the postseason or turning things around for the future will be restored and bring happiness to many dejected Cowboys fans.

* After Dallas got throttled by the Houston Texans at home, Dallas hits the road to take on the ballin' Washington Commanders.

* Speaking of my Houston Texans, they go from one rivalry to another. It's the TNT (Texans 'n Titans) rivalry as AFC South foes Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans clash in Houston. This is Houston's first look at the Titans.

* Formula 1 will race in Las Vegas this weekend, but the Las Vegas Raiders better rev up their engines and go full speed when the Denver Broncos visit Vegas.

* Sunday Night Football this week features the Philadelphia Eagles going out west to meet the Los Angeles Rams.

* Monday Night Football is the "Harbaugh Bowl." Or Har-Bowl. Or... whatever you want to call it. Anyhow, the Baltimore Ravens will be at the Los Angeles Chargers.

So now the other shoe has dropped. The Jets fired their GM Joe Douglas. I liked Joe but has made some bad choices. Zach Wilson being the most obvious one. But even with they didn't have to hand him the job with no veteran backup. Then the trade for Rodgers last year and not having a good backup besides Zach Wilson who the organization lost faith with. Then the trade for Reddick and letting a lot of the defensive line contributors go. That has hurt the run defense. He has made some good picks but overall the things I mentioned let to his firing. Now the Jets start over. I hope anyway I don't think the new GM and coach whoever they maybe don't need Rodgers on the team. There is speculation that Woody Johnson will be the ambassador to the UK again and his brother will take over. I think what Woody needs to do is find a football czar who makes good choices and rebuild this team. Hopefully Jordan Travis will be fully recovered and they can add another QB and start over.

Something I usually like to do is look at various media outlets to gauge the full story. What I usually do is visit the different "Locked On" podcasts of different teams on YouTube. I also look at various other podcasts and major media stories on teams. You get a better idea of just what each game is like. Maybe part of seeing both sides of the story coincides with my past ambitions of Broadcasting and Journalism in college and a past ambition to be a sports anchor.

So having said all of this, I been seeing a lot of post reactions from my Houston Texans taking down the Dallas Cowboys 34-10 this past Monday Night in Arlington, TX. Most of the Texans talk is about if this can maybe help rebuild the Texans' confidence in being an AFC Championship threat and possible Super Bowl contender. Dallas, meanwhile, being chewed out like mad. The reaction of players along with Jerry Jones' comments have really made "America's Team" look like trash. And if you know anything about sports reporting, nobody loves clowning on the Dallas Cowboys like Stephen A. Smith. He surely threw his punches at the Cowboys after their failed on Monday Night against my Texans.

Do some of you like seeing stories and games from both perspectives?

How 'bout dem Texans? The Houston Texans have never won at the Dallas Cowboys (0-3 heading into tonight). While it wasn't pretty, the Houston Texans did very good to take down the Cowboys 34-10. The Travelling Texans made sure to show up at AT&T Stadium and support the Texans. It was an awesome win for sure. It would have been disaster if the Texans failed on national TV on NFL Monday Night Football to the (then) 3-6 Cowboys. Hopefully the Texans can build off of this win and improve the team overall. Feel good win for Houston and Texans fans; sadness and despair for the Dallas Cowboys.

It's 31°F and snowing in Cleveland between the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Cleveland Browns. This is at or below freezing weather. Cleveland had a 10-3 lead at halftime, ballooned it to about 18-6. Pittsburgh came roaring back to lead 19-18. Cleveland scored a touchdown late but missed the two-point conversion. In the end, Pittsburgh's chances of victory were iced over. Pittsburgh fails 24-19 on a below freezing, snowy Thursday night in Cleveland.

So your fears were confirmed, Fezzik. Sorry, mate...

The Houston Texans hosted their rival Tennessee Titans. In a back-and-forth shootout, the Texans ended up on the losing end of this shootout. Titans didn't play like their 2-8 record signifies. The Texans, meanwhile, just felt cursed all game long. CJ Stroud threw his first interception ever against a division opponent. Too many penalties sunk the Texans on this day. The final in Houston is 32-27, Titans. Great shame when the Texans had a chance to maybe clinch the AFC South Championship before their Bye Week after their next game.
