Nobody is holding a gun making you stay so pack your bags and maybe you can catch a flight to Mexico with the illegal border crossers
What you described is exactly what happens when "brain drain" occurs in authoritarian nations. The Soviet Union for example suffered heavily during the Cold War when many of their most educated professionals, scientists, and educators left and went to Europe and the US.

They did pack their bags and leave, and a couple decades later the USSR collapsed both economically and technologically. They no longer had anybody who knew how to do anything specialized.

Do you want that to happen to the US? I'm not sure how things are economically in Appalachia but I can afford to leave and I do have highly transferrable certifications. That could be one less good guy for America.

lol. lmao.

Oh no, the Trumpsucking vermin what would respond to criticism of their bronzer daddy with personal attacks utilizing pejoratives spoon-fed to them, such as "TDS" and "NPC" (and the irony of the latter should be lost on no one), felt like they weren't welcome and noped out.
So you're saying you wanted Harris in office she's so dumb all she knows how to do is laugh, and she thinks it's OK for women to continue committing murder of babies that will never have a chance at life! Let me ask you this what do you think GOD tells these murdered children. After you answer what would you tell the children if they could talk to you?

If the illegal border crossers are getting planes, the "wall" would seem superfluous...

... and one of the people you're addressing is not even a US resident, given away not only by the flag under their name but the content of the message you quoted.

it's educated people like you
Heh.
she thinks it's OK for women to continue committing murder of babies that will never have a chance at life
Oh, you're a pro-women-killer. That tracks.

Probably the same thing he tells all the children he allows to die from preventable diseases and lunatics shooting up elementary schools: nothing.

Yea, I can still blame voters for electing the insane guy. Yes. Regardless of your criticism of the Democrats, the insane guy is insane.

At this point, whatever ignorance is getting taken advantage of is their own responsibility to clean up. It's not like the information isn't out there for them. I don't know what you want me to do about the bad guys other than vote against them. There were actions that could be taken, not anymore.

By lying to them and scaring them? Yea. The Democrats told the truth, but half the country has their fingers in their ears. I suppose you want them to lie and scare people? At some point, you really do become as bad as what you're trying to fight.

There was no "enough". Harris did basically everything right. It wasn't enough. At some point you have to stop pretending that the problem is with the people actually trying to do the right thing and realize that the the problem is with the people trying to do the wrong thing. The American people just didn't believe the threat. Now it's too late.

I don't know what you wanted them to do. What gamble didn't pay off? I just saw a group of people (formed from democrats and republicans) trying everything they could think of to stop the lying asshole from winning. Nothing worked because too many people are tuned out.

I'm getting pretty pissed at people blaming the folks working hard to do the right thing for the fact that scumbags are good at tricking idiots. You need to start pointing the finger where it belongs - on the bad actors.

There is no such thing as productivity anymore. Did you not notice? The autocrat and his cronies won.
Wait we the majority did keep the liar from getting elected. I for one am glad to see that Obama is completely out of our White House

As @dylansan suggested, turnout was lower overall, with Trump getting 74m votes in 2020 compared to 72m in 2024, while Biden got 81M vs Harris's 67M, a spectacular underperformance by 14M votes, holy cow. Fourteen million people just...didn't. They either didn't like her or they didn't care anymore, because Trump's numbers didn't increase either. The map is going to be a complete reversal of the previous one with simlar margins in the opposite direction, while all other states are tigher wins for Harris or bigger losses.
Not all of the votes have been counted yet, so it will be closer (probably under 10M), but that doesn't change that take away. California is at 55%. There are 3 swing states currently where Harris received more votes than Biden in 2020 - Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina (barely).

Soooo, Richard Gere is leaving the USA for Spain... to be closer to his in-laws.

Wonder who else are leaving.

Oh. Why did they leave?
Research suggests that individuals with a higher tolerance for ambiguity—who are comfortable with uncertain or complex situations—tend to lean toward more liberal political views. Liberals are often open to nuanced or abstract perspectives, supporting ideas that may not have clear-cut solutions.

Conservatives are generally characterized by a higher need for closure, which implies a preference for certainty, order, and structure. This trait drives a desire for clear boundaries, predictable outcomes, and stable frameworks. In political terms, it manifests as support for policies or ideologies that emphasize security, tradition, and social order.

Conservatives tend to find little value in discussion since discussion is only needed when one doesn't have all the answers.

One of the two people that you replied to isn't American (hi, @Sprite), but I'm sure you knew that already.

And suggesting that someone who previously expressed disdain to leave North America...only to stay in North America isn't the witty rebuttal you may have fooled yourself into thinking it is.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'd wager I know what camp you stand in because...none of what you said makes any sense but probably sounded amazing in your head.

...And did you really use educated as a pejorative when responding to someone else? "Pejorative" means a word expressing contempt or disapproval; a negative connotation (a word suggesting something), by the way.

They're already writing articles on it.

One thing that will be interesting to see play out is how Trump manages to carry out all of his contradictory proposals. Cut inflation while instituting sweeping Tariffs? Yeah, sure buddy. Reduce the deficit while massively slashing tax revenue? Boost the economy while deporting potentially millions of, you know, workers? Ok, right.

But he could also just do not a god damn thing and his supports would still love him and think everything is dramatically improving, so I'd guess he'll just be supremely lazy.
Honestly, if the people at the Wharton School would have a spine, they would have revoked Trump's degree as soon as he uttered the words that tariffs will be paid by foreign countries. Unless I win the jackpot, I will never have the funds to send any of my girls to an Ivy League school but if that's the level of knowledge their students come out with, I don't they're worth the price anyway :)

Trumponomics belongs in the same place as Trickle-Down-Economics, I agree.

I do think that Trump will apply himself to energetically grifting on a massive scale, rather than simply lazing on his fat backside. And seeking adulation from other wealthy grifters.

Hey, its cool that the media waited until after the election to report about what implications Trumps tariffs could have. Not that it would have changed many (if any) minds but still. Would have just been nice if they did their job...
They reported that tons earlier. Nobody was listening. Harris explained it too, and it was in ads. Nobody was listening. That's the take-home from this entire election. Nobody was listening. Not just to Harris, to Trump as well. The people that listened to either of them voted for Harris or are out of their damned minds. The rest didn't listen.

==============================

Silver linings about Trump winning

1) He's old as dirt and lazy. So he might not get done all of the terrible stuff he has planned.
2) He's incompetent, and he likes to have incompetent people around him. So he might not get done all of the terrible stuff he has planned.
3) If he does do some of the terrible stuff he has planned, his supporters will be worse off, so he might be as unpopular after 4ish years as he was last time.

If the democrats were to keep the house, I wonder how many times he'd be impeached (properly).

One of the main things he has hinted at, which people are doom-and-glooming, is a national abortion ban. This would be a massive deal to me, and I'd basically pack up my family right away. But I do wonder if he'll actually do it. Donald is not all that pro-life. I don't think he much cares about the issue, and it was a big headache for him. Part of me thinks he would just leave it like it is so that he doesn't stir up unrest. The American people do not like abortion bans, even in the south. And while what the American people don't like is somewhat immaterial at this point, it is a headache for Trump, and he is lazy and hates to be disliked.

There's reports that may already be happening a much smaller, interstate scale as stories have been shared that doctors have left red communities b/c of their strict anti-abortion measures.
she thinks it's OK for women to continue committing murder of babies that will never have a chance at life!
Ah yes, because this is so much better.

From 2019 to 2022, the rate of maternal mortality cases in Texas rose by 56%, compared with just 11% nationwide during the same time period, according to an analysis by the Gender Equity Policy Institute. The nonprofit research group scoured publicly available reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and shared the analysis exclusively with NBC News.

Abortion healthcare is not, "Kill the baby for ***** & giggles". When the baby is no longer viable, an abortion must be carried about, but these laws are so strict, medical personnel are hesitant to carry it out.

I cannot get over the fact that people abstained or voted for Trump over Gaza. How are you feeling about sending a signal to the democrats?!? Even if they got the signal, it's irrelevant. You played yourself. Israel must be thrilled.

Famine I'm not the one that combined my post! The wall will keep them from illegally entering without proper papers like it's supposed to be proper and simple! The only thing Obama's flunkies have done is raise the prices on everything and send our tax dollars for one murderer and one crazy guy to blow only to beg for more. How do you think your country will do when you have to start paying your share into NATO. I think all NATO members need to payback payments that Obama was too weak to enforce
