2K....4K, what's happening?

This is the DF video that was mentioned, check around 8:50 mark :

When you output at 1080p, you have the choice between frame rate or resolution the narrator says. So if your Pro outputs at 1800p, this option is greyed out. So I guess it's normal. Maybe try to output your Pro in 1080p and check this option again, it should change then.

Earlier in the video he also mentions if you output the Pro at 1080p then all menus and replays will be in 60 fps as well.

Are you sure about that? Digital foundry has a vid on YouTube and they were getting the 4k option instead of the 2k option in the settings.

Yes, I'm very sure of it. I can definitely tell the difference in picture quality when it is greyed out compared to when I set it to 1080p and can ajust those two settings.

Is there anyone on here who has a pro and a 4k hdr compatible tv? What do your settings say when going to the display options menu? Is there a "4k" option or is it just "2k"

PS4 Pro, 4k LG TV with HDR, 2k framerate greyed out
I guess that's normal then for everyone who has a 4k tv. I would have thought it would have a "4k" mode in the options but perhaps "2k" is the highest quality mode after all. Thanks for the responses everyone.

I believe 2k is another term for 1080p so no I don't believe that's the highest setting. There should be an option that shows "4k" but it doesn't come up for me. The only option available is "2k high frame rate mode".
That's not quite true, and even if you have a 4K TV, not all inputs may support it. Crazy I know, it was a minefield when I was looking as I wanted all inputs to be fully HDMI 2.0b compliant. Anyway, just to be clear:

HD = 720p
Full HD = 1080p
2K = 1800p
4K = 2160p

I was mainly just trying to figure out if everyone who has a 4k tv and a ps4 pro was getting "2k high framerate" option like I was. Seems like that is the case. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on the best experience.

PS4 Pro just don't have enough GPU and Memory bandwidth to handle modern games in 4K. I've try the game in HDR on my 4K set and the image looks very clean and I didn't feel like I was missing something. I think they did a pretty good job with the checkerboarding technique.

I'm playing on a 4k HDR projector with regular ps4. The PJ does some upscaling . Will I see a significant difference using a ps4 pro?

Is it a 4K or 4K HDR TV?
I have a 4K HDR TV with PS4 Pro and it is running GT Sport in the highest quality possible
My PS4 Pro runs it at 2k on my 4k HDR TV but thats only because I have the signal split into a capture card that only does 1080p. If I unhook it then I get the full 4k HDR experience. Check your settings for your TV, sometimes you have to change to game mode or something similar to enable HDR/4k on a particular HDMI port.

I'm currently in game mode but I'm still getting "2k"

2K is the highest native resolution that the Pro can output GT Sport at and that image is then checkeboard to 4K on your Display no external processing. SO you are most definitely getting your 4K, but the device is telling you what the raw image internally it outputs before upscaling that and sending the signal to your TV. I think that 4K owners are getting a raw deal here, as they can't choose between quality and performance modes, since 4K mode will lock your replays at 30 fps. I'd take the super sampling over having to watch replays at half rate.

Like I mentioned before, I have a 4K TV with HDR with the pro. It is grayed out and that's the way it is supposed to be refer to my earlier post :-) like posted above 2k is 1080p... since we have pro and 4k, it is recognized and setup automatically and we have no options to adjust frames or pixels

sane here but follow this:
1 go ti screen settings in ps4
2 set 1080p
3 go to gt sport and set quality Image on the pro support options and save.
4 come back to screen options in ps4 and set auto or 2160.
After this,in gt sport the option remain on quality.

In the Video Output settings, if you go to the very bottom and select Display Settings Assistant, it shows a summary of your output at the end. Mine shows HDR on and Resolution 4K.

4K tv no have option to choose anything , just 1080p do. But downsampling from 4k to 1080p could look better i think .all other games that uses downsampling on pro gives us perfect AA with it. And GTS looks like its no have AA at all even on downsampling. I wonder whats going on with that?
All lines have visiable jaggies all over. Yrs picture its so clear and great but gt6 had its solved, why new game cant?
New forza have its solved even on much weaker system .
If i stop replay and go with camera around cars i see jaggies all over on all lines here and there. Its on ps4 pro 1080p tv quality mode 2k downsampled.

Same here on my Pro and LG 4K HDR TV.

Also, when I checked my TV display output in game mode while I was playing GTS, it quoted 2160p i.e.4K.

I have a Sony HDR 4K Tv.
The very first time I booted Sport up I am convinced there was a screen with two boxes to click asking if I wanted to prioritize 4K quality or Frame rate.
I choose frame rate thinking I would go back and try the other option later..... but I have never been able to find it again.
I've run the 'Display Settings Assistant' many times but it hasn't appeared since day one.
In the section just above the Display Settings Assistant mine says '2K Output Mode for Playstation®4 Pro Console' with 'Prioritise Frame Rate' greyed out below.
Does anyone know if it's possible to un install the game and then load it up again to re-create a day one install without losing my progress/save?

So does anyone else remember getting the choice of prioritizing 4K quality or Frame rate on the first boot up of the game?

You cant choose notin on 4k output just on 1080p u get 2k choises. I didint find any differences visualy or in fps so i left quality.
To choose on 4k tv first u must select output to 1080p on ps4
On 4k tv you allready getting best quality . just replay are 30 fps. 60 fps replays only on 1080p performance mode

Same here, PS4 Pro + Panasonic 4k, option to change is greyed out. I would think it is either supposed to be greyed out on 4k, or it's a GT Sport bug.

Thanks - that has answered my question perfectly!
When I did the first start up, and downloaded the day one patch, I did it on a normal TV, not HDR..... then I later moved it onto an HDR TV so I no longer get the same options.
It all makes perfect sense now!

Same here PS4 Pro + 65 Samsung KS9500 thought i was missing the 4K but i think i'm getting the best it can offer for now.

Thanks.

Please advise me hear, I have a standard PS4 hooked into a 4K HDR tv that’s also upscales and I do get the HDR confirmation as game boots up, What I would like to know if I buy a PS4 Pro what will be the benefits if any.

I don’t need it for 4K streaming of other things like Netflix in purely looking at what it will do for gaming only.

I am very happy with the image quality as it is currently, But if the Pro does prove to be vastly superior I may get one.
