SimcoeAce and I had a very intense first 2 laps. He started in front of me in 2nd, I passed him at turn 8 on lap 1, then I goofed up on the final turn, and he passed me before turn 1. Good stuff man. There would be some turns where I'd definately be catching up to you, then a few turns later you'd end up pulling away again. I'm really liking the close level of performance, from all of the people in this group. Very close racing, where mistakes/accidents realistically cost you. I imagine our little group might have some fun races, whenever GT5 finally comes out. I'm looking forward to it.

OH Lofasz any time we race you take a pic of results screen & post it please.

Will do, please try to remind me though.

PS: Almost forgot. My pit times were as follows: 1st = 7.5(:sly:), 2nd = 7.9(:yuck:)

Well, that first hit was unnecessary - I approached the corner thinking "I'll give him lots of room" & then I just ran right into you! :dopey: Of course that gave my team mate the opportunity to take the lead! :mischievous:

I then smacked into you twice more when you spun out in front of me - which cost me dear as I had to pit (21.3 secs :indiff:) & then still twice more (14.xx secs each) for gas before the end of the race. :ouch:

The first few laps were cool though, racing pretty close together with no problems. 👍

Sounded like a great time out there last night guys. Sorry for a no-show on my behalf , as I had some personal things to attend to , would have like to been there. Oh well , we have next week. Lofasz , congrats on the win 👍 ,wow , Vdubbs , what a team-mate , thanks for picking me up , appreciate it.All others involved , nice job 👍 . Zeroduck1 ? - very un quacky of you , did you mess up on your firing order and cross a few plug wires ? ( LOL ). Catch you all again , have fun out there !!!!!

Are you guys having practice races at 10.00 pm G,M.T every night?

Not every night, no.

Looked like a good race everyone. When's the next race?

The actual Bahrain Grand Prix will be scheduled this coming week, I'm currently thinking Sunday 21st December and then taking a brief break for Christmas before getting stuck into the championhip properly next year.

Sounds like a plan. I am out of town/ at family holiday stuff From Christmas until the 2nd.

That date is fine for me, for the first real GP.

Does anybody want to race tonite (saturday) or tomorrow, on a track other than Bahrain? Something we don't usually race? I was thinking something like Monaco, Montreal, Sepang (the 2nd one), Monza (might have lots of passing), Suzuka, Sao Paulo. I think it would be fun, with at least 3-4 people in the race. Just another practice GP. We can do less than 20 laps. Anybody interested?

Just ordered F1:CE, is it not too late to join the PAL league? I presume not given thread title, I'd like to join Team Aguri if possible. Can't say for definite when game arrives, what with Christmas post. Should be here by end of the week though.

I think there still is some seats available.

Yup, welcome to the club 👍

Hey, my mate just recently bought a PS3 so is there any chance I can reserve the space in my team for when he gets F1:CE?

Sure, within reason, but I somewhat doubt we will be getting enough PAL drivers to fill the grid anyway.

Unless Sureshot & Kakundoo's mate's real names are M. Schumacher & F. Alonso, they're going to have a steep learning curve to get up to speed for a F1CE online championship! But I salute their sense of grit & self-confidence! 👍

The actual Bahrain Grand Prix will be scheduled this coming week, I'm currently thinking Sunday 21st December and then taking a brief break for Christmas before getting stuck into the championhip properly next year.

What kind of time GMT are we talking for Sunday? Did I see 2200 for the practice race? That'd be a good regular time.

Yup, its 22:00 GMT currently for all PAL races as it seems the most agreeable time for most of us.

Do I need to know anything about how the planning goes prior to race-off? I should get the game about Thursday, so I will have a fiddle about with it on Friday. My PSN is in profile.

A break down of how this works (not just for you Sureshot, this is for anyone else who is wondering):
-First of all I post the date and time of the next race on the first page of this thread.
-I send out PMs (private messages) on this forum to each driver (non-attending drivers and reserve drivers included - its easier for me to send PMs to everyone rather than work out which drivers are turning up) with the game name and password.
-The race is then hosted usually about 5 minutes before the race start time and we usually wait about 5 minutes or so after the race start time for people to join the lobby. F1:CE does allow people to late join as well, but usually this is preferrably avoided because it causes a burst of lag when people join and it also sometimes gives unfair advantages (as the late joiners take the place of one of the AI drivers)
-After the race the results are posted here and I will stick them into the table format as on the first post.

I would advise you to play about online with it, especially with hosts who have collisions on, because the "lag bubble" in F1:CE takes some getting used to and is a frequent cause of accidents in this game.

Heh, but thats where the fun is! When I first started the last F1:CE Online Championship, I had little experience of the game and was learning most of the tracks just before we raced them. The only reason I did well was because I was the host/organisor and I turned up the most consistently (as well as GT4 Genius of course). I was basically using this as a way to learn the tracks to a super-fast pace so I could tackle the single player better, as I was having trouble at first getting stuck into the career mode.
I feel this time around I could probably keep up better but unfortunately this time around I will also be racing a lot less.
The key to this championship will be who turns up the most then it will be who drives the best.

What's the lag bubble like compared to GT5:P?

A lot bigger, its to the point where you can take people out quite easily without realising its your fault at all, because you look visibly so far apart. Its why I ask people to always keep tabs on their rival drivers just in case they have taken them out even in supposedly clean passes.

No one else showed up to PAL practice race.

It was on Friday....

Guys, this upcoming Sunday is going to be tight for me. I'll be out of town for the weekend snowboarding :sly:. I don't know if I will be back home before race time. I know my teammate Sumpington will step up with a good race for the team in case that I don't make it.

I'll be at the race on the 21st. Although I should be snowboarding too! :) Have fun!

I'm glad the first race is Bahrain - probably the easist track in F1CE. It it were in Melbourne or Monaco I'd be up ****creek without a paddle. :ouch: Hmm... those Santas are proliferating at an alarming rate!

A chance for a reserve driver I see. I think Suede53 is the next in line for a drive?

Indeed, Bahrain is a great track to start on to get warmed up. I think the 2006 season has a nice balance of tracks to it though it is missing some very key ones.

I should be around for the race on Sunday. I was wondering if anyone wants to meet in Home before hand, at about 21.30? Just to see what could be done, maybe an unofficial GTP_F1 club, I'm not paying for a real club! Any thoughts on what we could do, race around the apartment? Arrange a suitable time for the next race? Etc.

The Home servers seem very unreliable right now, I've only been on it once for about 5 minutes before I was once again seeing error messages. I doubt we could reliably use it for much of anything until its been going a few months and they've improved it.

Anyway, Home feels just a bit too silly for me. The only reason I'll use it is for a laugh and because its free, but I don't think I can ever use it seriously, its too...well..pointless and feels like wasted time.

Way off topic...

I'm supposed to be back home around 8:30 pm EST time, but I can't rely on that because traffic is unpredictable. I will confirm my participation on Sunday, no later than 4:00 NY's time.

Could somone tell me how the cars handle online? I'm assuming they're rather understeery since you can't change the set up, I'm assuming they have neutral camber?

That's what it feels like, yes. It also feels like the car is topped off with fuel, IMO.
