Ah, ok. Never did qualifying online before.

When you set up a race on-line , on the set-up screen it give you the option of , random , ranked , qualification. In this league , we qualify. So if you want a good grid position you usually have time to turn in 2-3 laps , so try to make one of them a good one. 👍

i can deal with that looks like there was some miss understanding on my part i do remember seeing msg about relief drivers but when the practice races and first race started i wasn't listed as a relief driver so i assumed someone had dropped out i'll take the blame for that i apologise to all involved ZERODUCK1

Ah, ok, no problem, I had just switched you and RACECAR because you were racing for the team's points, so although you were a relief driver, you did count as being on the team, it wouldn't have made sense for you to be in the relief drivers list but scoring points at least not for me,
Well, this won't happen again because I'm officially going to annouce the:

NTSC GP2 Championship!!!!
This series will run alongside the NTSC F1 World Championship, racing at the same circuits at the same time. Teams, drivers, rules, points, etc will all be exactly the same.
The idea behind this championship will be to run as a feeder series for drivers who can't currently find race seats in F1. Anytime a driver from F1 quits, the top ranked driver in the GP2 series will be offered the drive (this also goes for temporary drives too, an example being RACECARs seat just now).
At the end of the season, the top 5 drivers from GP2 will advance to F1 and the bottom 5 drivers from F1 will be demoted to GP2. There will be some allowances made for drivers that switched half way through the season though, so if a GP2 driver jumped to F1 half way through the season, he won't be demoted back to GP2 because of lack of points though its not impossible for this to happen. If this is the case, only 4 GP2 drivers will be promoted and only 4 F1 drivers demoted.

The number of demotions and promotions will depend on the number of drivers in the GP2 series, if there are only 7 drivers, for example, only 3 drivers will be promoted/demoted. It will be roughly a half of those participating, basically.

I am wondering whether to make this a seperate thread so whoever will host this can organise it better.

Because the GP2 will start a little bit behind, it will hold both the Bahrain and Malaysian GPs close together (though I'm not sure when exactly, this will need to be decided).

So, I'm looking for volunteers to organise and host the GP2 races! (NTSC only)

The time stated in the OP is for the qualification session, isn't it?

Due to another on-line commitment I will be regularly hopping into the PAL lobby at about 9:50PM GMT

Yeah, that should be fine I think, though you might want to be careful doing that because when players join the lobby it seems to have an effect on the race, sometimes causing lag. You're probably best saying you'll late join when you can and just giving up any positions that the AI you've gained control of has gained (as in, if you late-join into Schumi's Ferrari and you're in 1st, let all the other players past, as you haven't really taken the positions yourself).

Also be warned that when qualifications starts it might not be so obvious, so if you don't see any other cars on the track, don't get worried!

I thought the races always start at 10pm? I don't want to be joining after the race starts...

No, the qualifying starts at 10.05pm, and the race follows that. The rule goes that we wait 5 minutes for anyone who is a little late then we qualify/race. So although it says "race start time 10.00" it really means thats when everyone should try to get online at.

Ah, okay. Given that...

How is that relevant? Beware, I may be asking a dumb noob question.

You can use either, there's no such restrictions. Good to see you back. 👍

So, is no-one interested in the NTSC GP2 championship? I obviously can't host the races myself, so I'll need a volunteer to help organise it and host each race, hence why I think it might be best starting a new thread for it. But if none of the reserve drivers are interested, we won't bother.

That was a quick reply...thanks.

Could we also do a PAL version of that GP2 season? Maybe when the PAL slots are full, and there's a few reserve drivers, maybe.

Yeah, I would do a PAL version, but the interest is no where near as high as for NTSC. Even though we have many drivers signed up already for PAL, most of them don't regularly turn up, whereas the NTSC grid is consistently full it seems, along with having 4 drivers waiting to grab one of the slots.

Yeah it's a shame that there aren't as many PAL drivers.

It's only a time factor for me and another I know of. Australian time of 8.00am Monday mornings is impossible,👎 even if I took a sickie every Monday. LOL

Yeah, the Australian/European time problem is annoying. Either side generally finds it best to race at night, but the opposite side doesn't like driving in the mornings for the other. (As in, Australian races at night would mean European races in the morning, and vice versa).
Its a shame because it limits the participation for each others events, though it isn't too different for the North Americans or the Japanese.

Yer it is a real shame, but there's nothing we can do about it. Might see if there is any interest in an Aus/NZ and equivalent time zone championship.

I'm just now catching up on this thread after the holidays but I'm definetely interested in the GT2 championship. If no one else is willing, I'll step up and be the host for the races. I assume that they will be run at the same time as the GT1 races (Sunday @ 10)? Same lobby?

Hmm, I might have got confused and thought you meant you might not be able to make it to the race on time.

We got our wires crossed. I suppose the point I was trying to make was.

What time do I need to be on-line? Given the other on-line commitment I have on a Sunday night, I don't want to be sitting around for ages. The race starts at 10PM, right? Given that, I presume I can easily turn my PS3 on and go on-line 5 minutes before hand?

You usually want to set the room up at least 15 min. before race ( I do it a 1/2 before race ) , that way it gives everybody a chance to enter room , and you can account for all who are there. Just sit there and BS ( LOL )

I'd be interested, but there's never a guarantee that I'll be able to show up and host on a regular basis.

Real shame that many can't join because of the time zone differences, perhaps instead of merging all the championships into one thread we can create different threads for all time zones, it'd be alot easier.

Yeah, let me know if you have much interest, I'll happily organise a PAL-Oceanic championship with the tables, PMs, etc.

Yeah, thats the what I was thinking of, it will run exactly the same as the current championship, just with different drivers.
Would you mind organising a thread for it? I think it would be easier than having it all in this thread and it might spark something interesting in this sub-forum (you never know, we might see further feeder championships being created if this gets any more popular).
I can provide the cleared tables for you to edit, then all you need to do is upload them to imageshack or photobucket and edit the first post, or I can create and edit the tables for you and host them on imageshack and send you the image links?

Either way, I would prefer it to be in a seperate thread for someone else to take full control of the organisation of, this F1 championship is work enough on its own.
However, I am willing to provide help and tips to anyone who feels up to organising it and will of course point new drivers to it when they come.

Yeah, that should be fine, I think . No, it should be fine, I doubt there will be an issue with it.

Perhaps, but it isn't too bad at the moment, I do however think any more feeder championships or other related championships should go in seperate threads so other people can organise them, I can't possibly organise all of it and keep the rules up to date and relevant, edit the tables, send out the PMs, sort out any arguments, sort out driver attendance and answer everyones questions.
But I don't mind organising all of the different regional F1 championships, as they all use mostly the same rules and its only 2 (3 if we get a PAL-Oceanic series) races to monitor every weekend.

Ok, just though if it got a bit hectic here we could setup seperate threads.

Can the person hosting the races please send me a PM with the name of the server and password. I'm now in the championship I think, just got to know what team I'm in.(i don't mind, any team will do.)

Ardius or whoever is hosting the race will send a mass-PM around with details prior to the race.

Yup, I will usually send the PMs out unless I'm not around, in which case it will normally be the race host (which is Kakundoo btw).
I didn't place you in Jaguar because I want that seat if and when I can ever make it to a race :sly:

It's race day!!!
I'm really looking forward to this race as I have sorted out the problems that hindered me during Bahrain, all I need now is to keep my head, forget the past and look forward to getting back into the championship by earning some decent points.

Btw, is there any chance we can host this race maybe an hour earlier as school starts tomorrow (:(). If it's too late to change then don't worry, i'll still be able to make it.

Unfortunately, no, unless all the drivers can agree to the change? I don't want to confuse people again, not everyone has the chance to look in this thread before the race time.
I will be sending out the PMs shortly.
